DL Splash Mountain the Same as WDW?

The one thing I DO NOT understand (and is different between the two) is when Brer Bear is caught in the rope trap, why, oh why, in Disneyland's version, is he holding his shirt and not wearing it? Last trip to wdw i made note- he was wearing his shirt. At DL, it is dangling in his hand.

Wow, that's a very good question. I actually never noticed, but after you mentioned it, I had to look it up on youtube, and you're right! Very strange indeed. The scene in Song of the South where Brer Bear is hanging by the rope, he is most certainly WEARING his shirt! I have no idea what the Imagineers were thinking when they made him hold his shirt in DL's Splash. :confused3

I'm so excited, I'm 30, and about to watch the cartoon for the first time! My mom was cleaning out her sister's garage for her, and found the old VHS, and is forwarding it to me!

And, for the record, I like Disneyland's version better. But wish we had a playground like WDW's. Of course, now my kids are all big enough, it doesn't matter!

Huh, good question. I'll look for this next month when we ride!!

Disneyland vet here - went to WDW for the first time since Splash has been open this past Oct. While we liked WDW's splash better - probably due to the ride vehicles - DL is more thrilling. I believe I read somewhere that there is a 2 or 3 degree difference in the big hill (DL being slightly steeper) and that seems to make a ton of difference in the thrill factor.

Yes, you are right. I just looked it up, and the angle of DL's s drop is 47 degrees, whereas WDW's is 45 degrees.

My family and I grew up on DL's Splash Mountain and last summer went to WDW. We found that the ride was quite a bit different than we remembered so we are anxiously awaiting our return to DL in February. Thanks for posting all this info everyone!

For many years DL's logs did not have individual seats. You sat in each others laps similar to Matterhorn. It is my understanding that some people, especially foreigners felt this to be highly improper. This is why WDW's is side by side and DL's was reconfigured such that each person has their own seat and backrest.

I have found a great way to compare ride length and layout. If you find two videos on youtube (WDW + DL) of the ride that start and end as the ride does, it's pretty simple to compare.

Those 2 degrees seem like a big difference. I can handle the WDW version, but the DL one has me tied up in knots on the drop. :scared1:
