Hi all , I frequently see 30 minute wait times for DL railroad - why is this ? Aren’t there 4 trains running at any given time ? I think this will be a great way to start our first steps for family into DLR , but curious why the wait is so long , thank you

Nope, there's not always 4 trains going. The number of trains is based on the projected crowds for the day. So, some days there may be only 2 trains going, so the trains are every 15 minutes. And then if people aren't disembarking at a certain station, the line will be longer because there's less room.

This is one of the reasons park reservations will always be around. And why the Disney experience is forever changed. Disney is now able to anticipate any lower than average crowd day and adjust capacity down. So they get the advantage of lower crowds rather than the guests.

The wait time is an estimate. It depends on where the next train is when you join the queue and how many people are ahead of you. I have found the Tomorrowland station to be among the least busy (maybe because it’s a little hidden) but Main Street is my preferred station because it’s a much more pleasant place to wait and watch the sights of Main Street, plus the station itself is really interesting. Lots of people get off at Main Street so even if there are more people waiting, your chances of getting on quickly are higher. New Orleans Station is the worst, really long waits here so I always avoid it.

Lately it seems they list the wait time as around 25-30 minutes at all stations, regardless. We waited less than 5 minutes last Saturday for a train around 4pm. Tomorrowland station is the easiest one to board from. Shortest lines. Toontown is the worst.

It's like that because they don't know how many people will get off the train. Earlier this month, I walked on to the train and had it start in a couple of minutes when it was 30 minutes posted wait. But when we got to some of the other stations, there were also people who couldn't get onto our train.

Does anyone know if you can ride the train first thing in the morning at Main St? Or does it open a bit later? TIA!
