Hi :wave2: .. I am hoping to book a trip to DLRP for DD for her b,day in January, She keeps asking to stay at the "pink palace" so i would like to surprise her. she says she would rather stay in the Hotel than go to WDW.

I would rather not go in Jan as when we went in December it was very cold however this is the only time I'd be able to afford the DLH, and if we are cold we won't have far to go to warm up and hopefully the crowds will be low so we want have to stand in lines to long and can keep moving to keep warm.

How have people found Jan?

Does anyone know when the prices, special offers etc are out for Jan?

what offers are usually available for DLH?

We usually stay at NYH which I love how does DLH compare? with them being the same star rating i have assumed that you are paying the extra just for the location.

If you can visit during the week then, yes, the parks will be so quiet you will hardly have to queue for anything. But the weekends will probably be busy as always.

I've stayed at the HNY but not at the DLH, so I can't do a proper comparison, but I from the photos I've seen the rooms look very similar in size and amenities. I think you may get a few more extras, but on the whole you are definitely paying for the location!! Oh - I've just remembered you will also get a character breakfast in Inventions. :)

The brochure for bookings from early November should be out end of June, beginning of July. It will probably still be the case that you can only do the 4 nights for 3 offer at the DLH and not the 3 nights for 2.

I actually like going in the winter anyway, but I really wouldn't mind if I was staying in the DLH. I would be happy getting freezing cold and then having only a very short walk to my room in that gorgeous hotel to warm up again!! I wish!!! :lovestruc

Last year the January prices and offers came out in June. We are staying at the DLH this time - almost solel because it was such a trudge having to catch very busy buses with two small boys. I think with children, being very close to the park is extremely useful when they get tired, hungry, cold or moody!

What a wonderful surprise for DD if you can arrange this.
Have a look at trip report here and scroll down to Liav and Jody's January 2005. Although this is CC it will give you a flavour of the DLH and going in January :goodvibes

Hi :wave2: Thanks for all your advice.. I have had a think about it and i am thinking of canceling our trip to wdw to go to DLRP instead. You may think that this is crazy however we have only booked a week at wdw and my DD is more keen to go to DLRP and stay at DLH. The size of wdw makes me feel that it is to much to mange in a week and that is all we can afford as we are going to California next year( Which wiil include a visit to DL). so i am thinking of leaving WDW till 2008, when we can book for longer. I originally booked wdw as a week did not cost much more than 4 nights at wdw however we have booked for September for wdw which is when my DD goes to school for the first time and i feel that it is too soon to take my dd out of school as she will have only have been there for a couple of weeks.
In January she should be more settled in school(hopefully) and it won't be such a worry to take her out for 5 days.
The only problem is that I go to uni and i will probably have a lot of work due in in January however i suppose i can use the Christmas break to get it all done and hand it in before I go.

we have always said that when we go back to DLRP we would stay at DLH.

I guess with the cold we know what to expect and at least it won't be as busy as when we went the week before Christmas.

Also just have to say that i think that the castle a DLRP looks so much more magical than all the others.( I thought this before i had ever been to DLRP)

I guess the best reason to go to DLH rather than wdw is that is where my DD wants to go.

sorry if i have rambled a bit, I have had a lot to think about and I am interested to what you think.

I see that January might be more difficult for you, but I really do think it would be wise to avoid taking your DD out of school in September, if you can. My DD started school in Sept 04 and then we took her out for a week at the beginning of the following February, and afterwards she settled back in no problem. But by then she was very familiar with the school, her teachers and had made good friendships with her classmates.

I can think of no better reason either :)
Just think you'll have the original park to look forward to in 2007 and then WDW in 2008. Now that's worth planning for :goodvibes

wideeyes, I don't think that is crazy at all. Like you said, your DD would rather go to DLRP and who could resist staying at the DLH? :) I agree that there is far too much to do at WDW in a week, especially on a first visit. It will still be there for you in 2008 and you will have all that time to plan! :goodvibes
I also agree with you about the castle, the one at DLRP is just so so beautiful! :thumbsup2

ok this is what I am thinking..
DLRP..January 23rd--25th/26th January not sure if we will go for 2 or 3 nights. we have been before so could manage with 2 nights, and if it is not busy we should get every thing done. I will see what the difference is in price.. will also see how much CC is however probably will not book for it as I don't think DD will really care to much.. if we do go CC it will probaly be for me :rolleyes2 It would be fantastic...hmm It is my birthday 5 days before DD..hmmm I wonder... :rolleyes1

I am thinking of wdw in febuary 2008 however will have to see what my schedule is like than, If not than June after I have finished my final exams( gosh it does not seem to far when i write it down).
