DL Annual Pass

As DVC members, we get a discount on Disneyland Resort annual passes. According to the members website, they can be purchased "at any Disneyland Main Entrance ticket booth."

Has anyone tried purchasing a DL Annual Pass through Member Services? I believe having the voucher in hand would allow me to make reservations with an AP discount, just like at WDW.

That is a new one on me, although I haven't been keeping up on the DL resort lately as we are blocked out during summer. In the past, the DVC card got me ZERO at DL, but we used to just get money off at the Disney Store (10%). Maybe since the opened DVC booths at DL they are now offering discounts. Hopefully someone else here knows better.

You do get a DVC discount on Disneyland passes. However, I have read on the Disneyland side of disboards about cm's at Disneyland not knowing about this recent perk. I am going this week and plan on getting a new AP (old one expired in April). Per another DVC members advice, I printed out the information on this perk from the DVC website so I can show them that if they balk. People have been getting the discount but having to be persistent about it. I don't know for sure if you can do this through member services, I have only heard about people getting them from the ticket window in the main entrance area between the two parks. As far as needing an acitivated AP I would call the DLR properties directly to see about this. AP discounts at Disneyland are harder to come by, they don't offer them as far in advance as they do at WDW. I have usually ended up getting about as good a deal on Expedia since they often offer the stay 4 nights get one night free deal from time to time.

I asked before our last visit and member services. They said I had to get the DVC APes at DL. I ended up doing an upgrade from a park hopper.

I found that most folks at DL were not really familar with the DVC discounts. (I went in July). I had brought along a print out of the assorted discounts (I had several different ones --Disney Visa, AAA, DVC, AP ) because I was having trouble remembering which discount went with which card.
It turned out to be really handy as I had to show the print out (from the DVC web page) to CMs for every DVC discount. It wasn't any problem to get the discount once I showed them the print out.

It just seems like it would make a lot of sense to me for the wdw annual pass to work at disneyland. We'd probably go to disneyland every once in while if it did. It is hard to go to disneyland and buy tickets when you already have a paid for pass to wdw. I't even pay a small extra amount. It seems like there are people in the middle of the country that could go to either park, but probably not so many people that it would be overwhelming to the system.

I recently upgraded a 5 day hopper at DL to an AP using the DVC discount! YEAH! I have copied my post that I made on the DL board below. In all, the CA DL workers seemed to be either unfimiliar with the DVC discounts, or just refused to honor them at all. I heard many, many times over the week that, "We don't honor DVC discounts anywhere in DL". So I agree with the above posters, bring your printouts and carry them with you.

I did exactly what I planned on doing on the last day of our trip. I upgraded our $169 Hoppers to APs with the full credit of $169.00 towards the AP price with the date retro back to the first day we used the hoppers! So for those wanting to do that - it worked like a charm

HOWEVER - for those wishing to use the DVC discount on the AP upgrade be warned that when we upgraded we were told by the AP processing center that you had to go back outside of the park to the ticket window and purchase your AP there. They were the only ones who did DVC discounts. Well, OK then - so back outside we go (after standing in a line to get into Disneyland AND another at the AP center). Since, as advised earlier in the week we waited until we were ready to leave on the last day there to upgrade so we would not lose out on the enchanted fastpasses, it is no so late that only one ticket booth is open. I have no idea what would have happened if all were closed. This was around 10:00 PM at night. So - we wait in the ticket booth line, only to be told (quite rudely I may add) that Disneyland does NOT honor ANY DVC discounts! WHAT? After some convincing, the lady finally decided to "let me have the discount" So, after quite some time purchasing the tickets it was BACK IN LINE to get into Disneyland and then BACK in line AGAIN at the AP processing center where all went smoothly.

So - basically my long story is for DVC members to go outside FIRST and bring a print out from the website with you about the discount other than that all went as planned!

I agree! We live in Denver so the difference in air travel time between the two parks is only about an hour. The sad thing for us is that when we bought our 400 points back in January, our DVC sales rep told us that when we used points at Disneyland we got free park tickets (not ap's just hoppers). We were thrilled (and stupid to believe it). I couldn't believe that with all my previous research, I hadn't stumbled on this great perk. So we increased our points from 300 to 400. I had always thought we would never use points to stay at Disneyland because everything I had heard indicated it wasn't a great deal. When I mentioned this to our sales guy that's when he told us about the free tickets. So we thought, well the money we normally spend at the Disneyland Hotel we can use towards more points, how fabulous. When we returned home I told a fellow Disneyland visitor who is also DVC about this. I asked her why on earth hadn't she told me this. She told me its Disneyland Paris that you get this free perk. I called our DVC rep and he said no, I assure you its also Disneyland California. He even gave me the page number in the DVC handbook this was on. Of course he also didn't even remember who I was and this was only 2 days after we had been in there, buying on the spot, easiest sale he had ever made, or so he said. I finally called Member Services and found out he was indeed wrong. MS told me they would have him call me back, I never heard. I don't think he intentionally lied he was just wrong and a slick salesman if I ever saw one. . I should have called him back and just laid into him but I was more mad at myself for not remembering the old saying of "if something seems to good to be true it probably is!" So we are going to Disneyland this week for six days and I am buying ap's for all 4 of us (and paying cash for Paradise Pier). We really want to see the 50th fireworks etc. After this trip however, we will likely only return to Disneyland only every two or three years for short trips.

It was $20 off a new AP. So instead of $209 for a Deluxe AP, it was $189, and instead of $329 for a Premium AP, DVC members paid only $309.

There was no discount for a renewal.

A Premium AP at DL now costs $349, and a Deluxe AP now costs $229 (I learned ticket prices went up on 9/1). I wrote to Member Services as soon as I learned about the new ticket prices, but they haven't gotten back to me yet, and they haven't updated the website.
