DL anniversary starting park

I'm planning a 2 day trip to DL for the first time. Our first day coincides with DLs anniversary (July 17). I know I want to start in DL one day and DCA the other and hop in the afternoon. I don't want to miss anything special for the anniversary so I'm debating if I should start in DL or if we should hop there so we're there in the afternoon. Or if I should double hop (start there, and double back in the evening). I want to book our reservations, so any advice would be much appreciated!

If it were me, I would start at Disneyland on the 17th. I am not sure if they are planning something special or not, but it wouldn't hurt to start there and hop back and forth later in the day.

Start at DL. They usually have a cavalcade on the Disneyland side and it's possible it will replace the Mickey and Friends cavalcade at noon meaning you would only be able to see it if you start at DL.
