Folks,

Anyone been to both locations (CA and FL) and can provide a general restaurant comparison? Example at WDW restaurant A compares to DL restaurant B. Interested in both parks and hotels.

Only been to WDW and have enjoyed places like Le Cellier, Wispering Canyon, Via Napoli, etc. Have no clue about any DL restaurants so looking for a general comparison.

Thx in advance.

imo I dont think there is a comparison period!...The closest thing I can think would be Pecos Bill to Taste Pilots Grill in DCA..we have a plaza inn but its nothing like wdw Plaza Inn...and maybe Chef Mickey to DL Goofy Kitchen...thats about all i can think of right now

I think there are tons of comparisons....I'll work on it when I am back at my desktop

I'd say Club 33 is the best restaurant in DL (Private Though) ... I found Le Cellier's (WDW - Epcot World Showcase) Steak to be just as tasty. :thumbsup2

I've been to DLR many many times, and WDW twice. First of all, there are obviously a lot more options at WDW, so it does make it a little hard to compare.

IMO, the table service restaurants at WDW are superior to the ones at DLR, although I haven't eaten at the Napa Rose or Carthay yet. However, I feel the quick service restaurants at DLR are better in general. The Hungry Bear and Plaza Inn are favs in DL. Over in DCA, we like Tast Pilots Grill, Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, and the Paradise Garden Grill

Thats a tough one for me, I would say IMO a close comparison would be WDW California Grill kind of compares to DL Napa Rose. Except NR does not have the amazing views that you get at CG.

Goofy's Kitchen kind of compares to Chef Mickeys.

We have our favorites at WDW and our faves at DL and overall its hard to say that they compare, because they are all different.

Some thing you might want to check out in your reasearch, if you haven't already is Hydroguys thread on dining at DL for WDW vets:

and also for more general overviews and tips, Hydroguys DL for WDW vets:

Both are super helpful!

Le Cellier and Steakhouse 55 (steakhouse 55 steak is amazing)
Chef Mickeys and Goofy's Kitchen
I'm trying to think of all the restaurants that might come close but am coming up with blanks.....so here's this....

Best Counter Service/Bang for the Buck:
Plaza Inn on Mainstreet (Chicken, mashed potatoes,Green beans, biscuit)

Best Restaurant on property:
Napa Rose

Best Counter Breakfast:
Riverbelle Terrace

Best Themed Restaurant:
Blue Bayou

I thought of another one.... DL's Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is similar food to WDW's Hoop Dee Doo Review but without HDDR's big vaudeville show. They serve the food in the same type of family style buckets and the main entrée is ribs and chicken and pretty much the same fixins' on the side.

The entertainment at BTRBBQ is a bit more mellow (at least when we went there) with country singers coming out and singing songs but not such a big production as HDDR.

I believe Via Napoli in EPCOT and Naples in Downtown Disney in CA are both Patina Group restaurants - so I would expect them to be pretty similar.

Never been to WDW but it is interesting to hear about all of these comparrisons

ok that got me for comparison...even though the food is completely different...BB and San Angel Inn are restaurants inside of a ride...

The counter service at China and Mexico pavilions in Epcot are very similar to the cucamonga grill and Lucky chinese restaurants in paradise pier.

There's nothing in WDW to compare to it, but I had to put in a plug for Ralph Brennan's at DTD. It's an awesome restaurant - great food, atmosphere, and service. I highly recommend it.

I would say that Taste Pilots grill in DCA is like Electric Umbrella Restaurant in Epcot.

Just ate at Napa Rose on Friday ... IMO, much better than any of the signature restaurants at WDW (and I'm a big fan of Jiko, Narcoossee's, and Flying Fish). On the other hand, there really aren't any other restaurants of that caliber at DLR, whereas WDW has many signatures.

Overall, however, the quick service food at DLR is mostly much better than at WDW. Which is why Napa Rose is the only table-service restaurant we've eaten at in California.

One of the biggest differences is the shear number of choices at WDW compared to DLR. DLR has far fewer TS compared to WDW, so there is more variety at WDW. To me there are very that I would say are directly comparable (e.g., in terms of ambiance and food).

Among my favorites are:
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - great food and ambiance. In terms of "feeling" I would think of this like Raglan Road (but the food is very different).
Naples - great pizza. As others have said, this is very much like Via Napoli, but VN's ovens are neater looking. I've been twice: once was awful, once was great, so hopefully it will be good on the third try.
Big Thunder BBQ - lots of BBQ. It is kinda like HDDR. There is a "show" but it's not an big as HDDR. Still there is singing.
Market Place - sandwiches and Monte Cristo sandwich. This is a way to get the famed sandwich without having to get a Blue Bayou table. Nothing very comparable at WDW comes to mind.
Carnations -I haven't been since it re-opend, but I guess a close comparison would be the Plaza.

I haven't had a sit down meal at DCA, so I can't really comment on those places.

Overall, I would say go to DLR with an open mind and enjoy what is there. Something's will remind you of WDW, other things will be very different! :)
