I want to start planning a West Cost trip for next May - I know a long way off but I am a planner!

I know nothing about West Coast. Is DL close to Legoland? Sea World? I want to stay about 10 days and need ideas what to do w/ 6 ds, 4ds, and 3 dd.

Thank you so much!

Legoland is about 1 hour from DLR and is about 1/2 way between DLR and Sea World. Sea World is about 2 hours away (but could be much more with bad traffic or a little less with no traffic). You may want to split your stay so that you spend some time at a hotel at DLR and then move to a hotel in the San Diego area.

Other San Diego area attractions to consider are the San Diego Zoo, the Wild Animal Park (another zoo owned by the San Diego Zoo), and Balboa park (lots of museums - some of which can be fun for kids). There are also fun things to do like see the seals at Children's Pool in La Jolla, or if you like the outdoors you can hike around the cliffs at Torrey Pines or explore Coronado Island. And of course, the beaches are always GREAT.

I hope that helps.

Michele

It's about a 1 hour drive, possibly a little longer with traffic. There is a lot to do in the San Diego area - Legoland, Sea World, SD Zoo. Perhaps split your trip between there and DL.

Yes Yes!
Do it all! We did SeaWorld, Legoland, 3 days at Disney, and Hollywood in 8 days and it was worth it!! and easy to do!!

We spent 2 nights in North SanDiego and the rest of our time at DLR. We flew in and out of SanDiego.

Oooo....I get warm fuzzies just thinking about that vacation.

San Diego is amazing. I love living here. I would highly encourage you to try and do Sea World and the Zoo. Legoland depends on the ages of your kids, as I think it highly overpriced ($62 for an adult  ) and not very much to do. Most days it is only open from 10am-5pm. Again, if this is a once in a lifetime thing, I would skip Legoland to do more Disney, or Sea World, or just a day at the beach in La Jolla or Carlsbad!

I would also split stay the two areas. You will spend far less time driving, and traffic is a killer.

EDIT: After reading the ages of your kids, they would probably love Legoland. Be aware that Legoland has very strict height rules on their rides, and can be hard on families with more than one small child.

Yeah,
I'm glad you editted....
We loved Legoland...We have a 7 year old Lego Nut in our house and even his teenage siblings LOVED watching how excited he got. Our whole family loved the ease of this sweet park. It was fun visiting a park that was so different than what we were used to.

When our children were younger we did Legoland. They really enjoyed it. It is geared towards kids in your age group. We went on the weekend to avoid the big crowds at Disneyland. Also, do be sure to check their calendar before you go. The park closes on some Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the hours may vary.
