Dixie Chicks

I love the Dixie Chicks. But I think Natalie has a big chip on her shoulder and needs to get over it already. As for the song, I don't care for it too much.

All I'll say is - if there is anyone out there who didn't listen to "Home" because they were mad at Natalie for saying the President is an idiot, time to forgive and forget. Great album - go get a copy today.

It's OK. Not a big fan but they do have some decent songs and the newest one isn't too bad.

That's what I was thinking as I was listening to it today. Why stir things up again? :confused3

I don't really care for the Dixie Chicks.....never have.

Dixie Chicks = Chopped Liver of Music.

The comments about the president, etc... dont play into that since I never actually heard the comments that were so controversial.

I used to really enjoy the Dixie Chicks. I even went to their concert a few months after they made the comment about the President. I was really torn about going but I couldn't get rid of the tix and DH really wanted to go. It was a very good concert but I never clapped (my own silent protest.) I still listen to it on occasion but not as much as before. I don't mind people having their own beliefs but I also don't find the need to put some of my money in the pockets of those who go out of their way to stick their foots in their mouths.

As for the new song, I'm really not fond of it.

No kidding!

I saw them in concert twice. They were great!!! Home is a wonderful album. Looking forward to the new album. Haven't heard the new song yet, but she's so right in these lyrics:

"And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over "

I love the Dixie Chicks and I can't wait for the new CD. I really liked the new song and I have to say I've never gotten the protests or "dislike" of them because of their comments. They have said things that millions of Americans have and the fact that people boycott them because of their opinions is just ridiculous to me. Toby Keith has a song that I don't like because of the opinions and comments it has but I still buy Toby Keith Cd's because I like the music. He's entitled to his opinions just like anyone else. Personally I don't care too much about an artists personal beliefs I just listen for the music.

I agree with the if they come off the station gets changed or the radio goes off. I will never listen to or support them again by purchasing their music, concert tickets, or listending to their music.

I never liked them. I've always turned them off because I just don't care for their songs or the way they sound.

I never had any problems with the Dixie Chicks or their comments. I do think they should have let it go but if that's where their creative hearts lie right now so be it. Our local country stations are playing it but the DJ always announces something like "in 30 seconds the new Dixie Chick song" so those who don't want to listen can change the station or hit the mute.

If they just get rid of Natalie they would be fine.
The other 2 sisters are the ones w/the talent (and class).
Will NOT be listening to anything they have to say or play.

“I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should”

- Lyrics, "Not Ready to Make Nice," Dixie Chicks

“I’m not ready to forget,
The hurtful words that Natalie said
In a land so far away
When American troops were ready and set
No I’m not ready to forget!!"

- Lyrics, “I’m not ready to forget,” charlie,nj

March 2003 -

Natalie Maines told a London audience on the eve of the Iraq war, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
