I can't find this anywhere:surfweb: so I am hoping that someone could help me:confused: ! Do the divers at Coral Reef get tipped? How do you pay for the diver and the personalized menu? I appreciate any input you may have.:yay:

no they don't get tipped and in 2007 it was free for both services...I'm not sure about 2008 as I know they were talking about charging for it

here is mine from Dec 16th

Word on several threads was the Sign program was cancelled for 2008--was overwhelming the divers and the restaurant.

I thought they were discontinuing the diver signs for 2008, but I was able to arrange a diver with a birthday sign for dd for our trip next week! We had a diver with a birthday sign for ds in June and he loved it!

Do the guests get to keep the signs? This is so cool!

yes!!

our waiter chased us out of CR to personally hand it to us!!! its just a printed piece of paper laminated

we just did ours in december 2007 & it was still free, but rumors are they arent doing it anymore....If your going to do it..make your ADR & call & leave Debbi a message & she will call you back with the info!!

How do you arrange this, we are going in June for our sons graduation from high school and this would be really cool.

Good morning miller2470! That's funny I was about to ask the same question when I saw your post already there! I can't wait until we leave!:mickeyjum

You call the Coral Reef and talk to Debby (I think that is her name). You need to do ASAP because I heard they were reducing the number of divers on a daily basis.

Thanks Kimis, I will call them today.:thumbsup2 Flyingwithtink, I love that picture of your daughter, great minds think alike huh?;)

That is really cool!!

How far in advance should someone call about the peronsalized menus?

1) If you do get a diver and/or personalize menu, there are free.
2) But, you can toss them a tip of about 5-clams.

Do they still let people sign up/pay/whatever to *be* divers? My sister & her dh did that when they were at WDW several years ago. She loved swimming up to tables w/ kids & waving at them!

yes...if you look at my post #2 the one holding my sign is a Disney diver...the others in the pic were the divers that pay...there were several in the tank when we were there

I booked our diver 2 weeks ago for Feb. They are not discontinuing the service, nor are they going to charge. They decided to just limit the number of divers per day. I believe they are doing 2 at lunch and 4 at dinner. Here's what I did:

Call the Coral Reef, and talk to a manager, or leave a message for one.

I dealt with Reginald, but many people have dealt with Debbie.

You MUST have an ADR.

They will check availablity for you, and if a slot is open, they will ask what you want on the sign. Mine will say "Nemo & Friends Welcome the Turner Family to WDW."

I am also getting the personalized menu. The manager will have you email them up to 4 family photos to put on it.

That's all I can think of! It's pretty easy, really, as long as you get a spot!

Good luck!

Thanks . . . If I knew how to dive, I think that would be a really fun thing to do to spread the magic . . .

I called to get my DH one 2 days before we left. You just have to email them the pics and anything you want to say on the menu.

Reginald returned my phone call and he was wonderful.

Disney Kim---I loved your pictures! You guys are a cute couple! Where did you get the mickey heads heart? I thought that was cool. Good luck with the menu? It shouldn't be a problem. I have heard of people only giving a few days notice. I booked my diver and menu in Dec for Feb. I can't wait to surprise my dh. Enjoy
