Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

GREAT Star Tours pics. Cute ones of the kids over there. Very creative! Wow. Someone slept in the lawn chair....can't be very comfortable. :rotfl2:

When I was showing my mom my pictures, I said, “Look, Mom, the Muppet Show doors!” My mom, being the one to introduce and raise me on all things pop cultural, took one look and said, “Those aren’t the doors on the Muppet Show, that’s the Happiness Hotel.” My dad had to get in on the discussion, and said, “Yep, that’s the Happiness Hotel -- see the British flag?”

So, I stand corrected -- I had to take a picture of the Happiness Hotel set from The Great Muppet Caper.

Hats off to Mom & Dad.... they're right!! (At first I thought they were the dressing rooms from the Muppet Show, too!)

Before we left Chelsea was reunited with her main man Bo!

128.jpg

Awww, such a cute couple! :lovestruc

I feel the same way about MuppetVision 3D... I wish it could get a face-lift. Unfortunately, now that Disney no longer "owns" the Muppets, I'm afraid they will eventually get phased out of DHS. They've already been cut from the parade....

Bring on the zebra domes!!! :cool1:

Kathy

sounds like you had a great day so far! Love all the pictures and the stories to go along with them! Never been to Brown Derby so looking forward to hearing all about it!

I can't wait to hear about Brown Derby!! I've never been there before and want to know if it's worth the money/TS credits.

Those pics with Chelsea and Conner are hilarious!:lmao:

haven't said much lately, but just reading along, pretending i'm there with you! i totally remember the happiness hotel! really cool that you got pics of it! looking forward to your brown derby meal. ray and i are playing with the idea of doing deluxe dining next trip. i don't think we could eat 3 big meals a day but i would LOVE to be able to do a few 2TS meals and that would come in handy for that.

I so love DHS! :lovestruc Once again I must say, Connor cracks me up with his expressions :lmao: and I will never again be able to look at Bo without thinking of Chelsea. We enjoyed Muppets 3-D a lot but we did see it before Mickey's Philharmagic, I'm not sure it measures up but I do love the Muppets nostalgia! (and I would have gotten the doors wrong too)

We love DHS as well! The whole ambiance of the place is so fun! I love Muppets nostalgia, too -- it makes me feel like a kid again!

I know what you mean about the Muppet Show. We walked right in but the preshow felt like it lasted FOREVER! Then the actually show was sooo very lame! It was of the only things we were totally disappointed in! Uggh! It DOES need an overhaul! I used to LOVE watching The Muppet Show on tv as a kid--it's a shame!

I do think they need to redo the film -- maybe even make a new digital print of it...

Awww, what great Chelsea and Bo pictures! I am happy you didn't get put in Mickey jail!

I have a very unusual 1st name. Last trip to wdw there was someone with the same name in line behind us. I kept doing the same thing as Connor.;)

Looking forward to more!

Thank you! I was very pleased we eluded the authorities! I know anytime I hear, "Jackie," I jump and look around -- I guess it is just instinctual!

It's sad but poor Connor looking around every time the dad spoke to the other Connor had me cracking up. It's weird hearing your name, I can imagine how he felt!
We haven't seen Muppets in a couple of years and just looking at the doors made me want to go back just to have a look see. Even though it needs a spiffing up I'll bet it still has some charm!

Hearing your name is weird, and I was cracking up myself. The dad looked at us in an odd way, so I had to explain that Connor was a Connor as well!

The Muppets do still have oodles of charm, and we did laugh at all the right places. As I get older, I feel like I have more and more in common with Kermit and his exasperation at the others!

WHO doesn't live this line every time they visit the toy store??!! :rotfl2:

STOP THE MADNESS!!!

VERY Sweet DHS post today! GREAT AT-AT pics. I am going to have to follow your lead at Christmas... I will tell the Mickey Police, "but CP did it!!??"

SPEAKING of Starwars, have you heard about the touring live orchestra performance with original video and footage set to the music? Look up Star Wars in Concert... it starts in CA this October... comes east by Christmas I imagine...

And on Christmas morning! I have a hard time believing that any hunk of plastic is so valuable that it warrants that many twist-ties!

I did see that about the touring live orchestra -- I quickly looked to see if Atlanta was listed -- not yet, but my fingers are crossed! I think that would be so neat to see!

What a way to end my evening....reading more about your most wonderful trip!! I really can't wait to hear about your dinner at Brown Derby!! I just LOVE that restaurant!!

Okay the phots of your kids at the AT-AT are awesome!!! I love the line about Mickey Jail (what a place to get stuck at)!!

I can honestly say I have never been in the Muppets gift shop, I'm totally going to have to remedy that this trip and check it out!!!! I heard there are some cool sites in that store!!!

Can't wait to hear more Jackie!! Great update!

Thank you! We loved Brown Derby as well! Yes, go take a peek in the Muppets gift store -- it is really fun to look around!

Great DHS update. Looks like fun was had by all and Mickey jail avoided.

Thank you! Yes, I was relieved that I avoided getting in trouble at Disney! ;)

Too funny!:rotfl2:

I'm gonna look for the Happiness Hotel...so many fun facts learned on the DIS.

I was cracking up while I was taking the pictures -- my kids are constant sources of entertainment for me!

I have learned so much on the DIS -- things I never would have noticed!

Love the rule breaking photos!

Not that I encourage that sort of thing. Really. ;)

I also now have this great visual of you all playing Star Wars, running around the house with Connor's various weaponry. :lmao:

Thank you! Yes, I am pretty sure we have enough weaponry to recreate most battle scenes from any of the original Star Wars movies! LOL!

The Muppets are looking scruffy?!? Say it isn't so!! :scared: That's disappointing but it will remain one of my faves.

The Great Muppet Caper-- now there's a movie to add to my Netflix queue! :thumbsup2

As others have said, C & C's expressions in the pictures - esp the At At thingamabob are priceless! And how cute you were having an anxiety attack at possibly breaking the rules. I am the same way!

Can't wait to hear about your Brown Derby dinner! popcorn::

Yes, the film is beginning to show signs of its age :(. It will always be one of my favorites, too!

I should add The Great Muppet Caper, too -- I loved that movie as a kid -- when we went to London, we always joked that we were going to end up at the Happiness Hotel! LOL!

I don't like getting in trouble at Disney. ;)

Brown Derby was a lot of fun!

Glad you were able to stay out of jail! LOL I bet a ton of people go beyond the rope!!!!

I bet they do, but knowing our luck -- we would be the ones caught!

The Happiness Hotel! I had no idea! Your parents are GOOD!

:rotfl: Oh, too funny!!!

Glad you were able to avoid it. :goodvibes

I should have noticed the flag as the give-away, but I was so fixated on those doors!

Yes, a stint in Mickey Jail, while adding something to the TR, would not have been fun!

Great update Jackie-can't wait to here about Brown Derby...

Thank you! Your DS will love Star Tours -- total immersion in a galaxy far, far away!

Brown Derby is delicious and fun -- definitely consider it!

Sigh. I was so hoping for the Brown Derby meal in this update! I am so excited about reading it!

I agree, Muppets need a rehab. I love the 3D show but it's looking a little sad at this point.

Ahh, Chelsea and Bo. :lovestruc

Nope, Brown Derby is two updates away still. :rolleyes1

It makes me sad when attractions start showing their age. :(

Chelsea and Bo -- I hope they last! LOL!

I love the Happiness Hotel picture and the tiny Mickey shorts on the line.:lovestruc

CP breaking the rules?! Unbelievable.;)We maybe did the same thing. The pictures are really cute.

Glad Connor made his Star Wars weaponry decision. Good job staying awake.

Can't wait to hear all about HBD!!

Thank you! Yes, every now and then, I live on the edge! LOL! I thought Connor would never decide on a purchase -- I could feel myself aging while he hemmed and hawed! Brown Derby coming up soon -- after an afternoon at AKL update.

Love the pictures with the AT-AT and the ones of Chelsea with Bo!

Great update!

Thank you! We had fun that morning at DHS! :goodvibes

Glad you didn't end up in Mickey jail. :rotfl:

Hearing about Connor going from toy to toy at the store reminded me of DD, she is so indecisive. Now I know what I put my parents and DH through. I wish she could just make a decision, but I never can, and she is only 3.

I was pretty pleased we avoided the Mickey police, too! Connor has always been the most indecisive of all of us -- I don't think he will ever change either.

:lmao: I love the pictures of Connor and Chelsea...those kids take the best pictures! Their facial expressions are priceless! :rotfl:

Thank you! They do love the camera! ;)

Great updates!!!!!!!!!! All caught up!!! Can't wait to hear about your dinner at Brown Derby too!

Good stuff!

Thank you! Brown Derby was my favorite meal of the trip for several reasons!

Fun post CP !
First off I'm glad to see that Charles seems to be hanging in there with you on this day.

Thank you! We were pleased to have him around for a little bit!

:thumbsup2 to your parents for knowing Happiness Hotel ! I would never have figured that out, now I have to go check it out. I agree with you on the Muppetts needing an update. "Muppett Vision 4D - taking 3D to a new level" was ahead of it's time but now it's time has come and gone, I'd rather have it the way it is than not at all though it's still a nostalgic favorite.

I agree! As many times as I watched The Great Muppet Caper, I should have recognized the Happiness Hotel -- it has been about 25 years though.

Mickey Jail:lmao:

I hear Star Tours in CA is getting an update, wonder if FL will too.

That would be awesome! I have heard whisperings about Star Tours being updated, so hopefully after Space Mountain it will be next.

Looking foward to hearing all about ceramics at AKL that one is new to me.

All the activities at AKL were so neat!

There you go again, living life of the wild side, breaking Disney rules. You must have been feeling rebelliousthis day.

I agree with you on the Muppets. We love the show, but it is looking a little old and dusty. Hopefully it will get a quick rehab soon.

Can't wait to hear about Brown Derby.

Very rebellious! LOL!

I hope it gets some sort of a cleaning!

Brown Derby was yummy!

I love the AT AT pictures. Your kids are doing a great job of posing.

Thank you! :goodvibes

Woo I'm all caught up!!! Can't wait to hear about Brown Derby! Love that place.

We fell in love with Brown Derby the minute we stepped through the doors! :lovestruc

Great update! Love the AT AT pictures you rule breaker you!! I see lots of pictures like that!!
Awww love the pictures of Chelsea and :lovestruc Bo! You were going to make a shirt for her! How cute!! :goodvibes

Tracy

Thank you! Chelsea has grown up so much just in the year since we saw Bo -- it was amazing to me!

The Muppets definitely need a facelift. The effects just aren't the same anymore.

The waiting area for Star Tours is great!

Did you find there were more activities for kids at AKL than other resorts you've visited?

We had a lot of fun at both Muppets and Star Tours.

We have never stayed deluxe with the kids before so I don't really know if AKL had more kids' activities than other deluxes -- I can say they had tons more than any of the moderates!

I can't believe you are leaving in 15 days! How exciting!

Hi Jackie! Just catching back up! I LOVE that you guys broke the rules and risked Mickey Jail for a good photo op!:thumbsup2 Thanks for the Star Tours pictures, I don't ride, it makes me sick! I was smiling when I saw Chelsea and dear BO were reunited! I can relate to the star wars arsenal as we have one of those as well!:goodvibes

Thank you! Having two boys I can imagine that your arsenal is quite extensive!

What great photos in this update! I love the pictures of the kids in the Star Tours line - and the fact that you were so worried about getting in trouble. I'm the same way. The funniest comment was about the Disney police getting you! Can you imagine being thrown out of Disney? Oh the humiliation! :scared1:

Thank you! I would be so crushed if I was ever kicked out of Disney!

Love the pictures from Star Tours....I'm with Diane, I also get motion sickness on it... Jasmine and I did ride last year though, we had split up from Peg and family and Jas and I were lucky enough to get Dream Fastpasses getting on RnRC, Jas said "Mom, we have to ride every ride that's on here" I of course said OK. We ended up on the same "ship" as Peg and family so we were able to share our good news with them. I just closed my eyes for most of it and I was ok.:cool1:

I am a huge chicken when it comes to riding roller coasters, but rides like Star Tours have never bothered me -- I guess because I know we are just moving around in one spot. Glad you were able to ride it with your Dream Fast Passes though -- how fun to have gotten those!

GREAT Star Tours pics. Cute ones of the kids over there. Very creative! Wow. Someone slept in the lawn chair....can't be very comfortable. :rotfl2:

Thank you! I know how I feel after dozing off for just a few minutes in a pool chair, so I can't imagine sleeping in one for awhile! :sad2:

I feel the same way about MuppetVision 3D... I wish it could get a face-lift. Unfortunately, now that Disney no longer "owns" the Muppets, I'm afraid they will eventually get phased out of DHS. They've already been cut from the parade....

Bring on the zebra domes!!! :cool1:

Kathy

I did not know that Disney doesn't own the Muppets anymore!!! That's almost tragic! I wonder what will happen to them now!

We discovered that one can never have too many zebra domes!

sounds like you had a great day so far! Love all the pictures and the stories to go along with them! Never been to Brown Derby so looking forward to hearing all about it!

We were having a blast! Brown Derby was great! Definitely a repeat restaurant!

I can't wait to hear about Brown Derby!! I've never been there before and want to know if it's worth the money/TS credits.

Those pics with Chelsea and Conner are hilarious!:lmao:

Hi, Dawn! Brown Derby was delicious -- I can't wait to share it with y'all! I even took a bunch of pictures in there! :thumbsup2

My 6-year old son is just starting to get into Star Wars so I am so excited to take him on Star Tours. It looks like fun! I'm sure we'll spend lots of time in the gift shop as well. LOL! Boys and their toys....

Make sure you hang around for the Jedi Training Academy as well -- it's fun to watch even if DS doesn't get picked to participate!

Loved the update......I am so glad that you didn't get caught and thrown into Mickey Jail.....we would miss you!!!! :( I agree that the Muppets are looking a little forlorn....I hope they can do something about that!!!! Can't wait to see what is next!

Oh No.....Not Mickey Jail.......(although I suspect it couldn't be that bad, could it?????).

Love your latest update and pics. I also love Star Tours and agree that the Muppet show could use a rehab. It's such a great show, but its dated. I think they don't rehab it because its so good at absorbing crowds. Maybe its just that 3D rides are hard to rehab. IDK :confused3

Sorry it took me so long to get over here to read. Crappy, busy week....you know!

Wait.....no ToT FP's for you????? What gives?

Surely Mickey Jail is a step above other jails, right?

I hear ya about the busy week -- today was my first day back at work, and I can already tell that next week will be a doozy! Yick!

:lmao: Yeah, I decided to skip ToT this year (again!). ;)

When does school start in Georgia? Seems early for us northern folks.

ToT has to be on your list for next trip....If I can do it, so can you. I recommend watching the Youtube videos of it first. :thumbsup2

The first day back for students is next Thursday. We do get out on May 21 though so I guess that is the trade-off.

I did ride ToT back in 1998 with my brother. It dropped once, I shook for 30 minutes afterward and managed to buy many things in the gift shop to document that I had lived through the experience.

Next Thursday! :scared1: Are the kids ready????? My kids got out June 4th and they go back August 27th.

I will admit.....30 minutes of shaking is not good. I don't think the ride is as bad as it used to be. The first time I rode it was 2002 and I thought a couple of those drops were nasty. It's definately not as bad now, but once you get that nastiness stuck in your brain, its hard to go back with an open mind!

Hey Jackie. I came back to find that I was 15 pages behind!111111111

As I hurried away, I could hear Connor saying to his sister, “Nice going, Chelsea.”

...

Chelsea was complaining of a stomach ache (probably from eating all that steak at dinner), so as we walked towards World Showcase, I told her, “Look, you have a reputation on the DIS boards for being bright and sparkly. I need you to be bright and sparkly.” ;) Luckily, her stomach ache seemed to disappear as we walked through Mexico and Norway.

Both of these had me laughing!!

Soon we arrived in Italy and spotted Anita, Marc, and Baylor. Let me just say that they are as funny and nice in real life as they are on the DIS boards. We had such a great time with them! Anita had brought a lot of goodies for the kids to play with while we waited for Illuminations to start. I especially loved my pink light-up ring. We took some pictures to commemorate the event.
A dismeet :cloud9: I have yet to have a dismeet

Of course this was after Connor informed them all that I was a Disney Freak and then was stunned when Anita and Marc spoke the same DIS language as his own mother.
:rotfl2:

Caribbean Beach Resort -- after we stay there, we will have stayed in all of the moderates.
Are you going again in October???

I thought I quoted your DHS morning too but its not here
We always head to TSM too but never as quickly as you got there. I guess that is where the stroller slows us down. I am not a fan of the muppets 3-d but the kids LOVE it. Love all your pics of the SW props :thumbsup2 After seeing all of them DH said he wants to go back and actually go to DHS on a SWW. We have been in June twice now and didn't go to DHS on a weekend? What is wrong with us???
