Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Wow! I think I'll be dreaming about that bread basket and dragon drink tonight. They look delicious!!!

Uh, oh...the KP drama will continue?

Wow I can't wait to eat at Rose and Crown again...it looks like you guys had a great meal!!!

We did -- I would head back there in a heartbeat!

I love Chelsea's pictures...she is having such a great time!! Love the Alice and Wonderland one, too cute LOL!!!

We are big Alice fans at our house.

OOOH...the KP saga continues...should be interesting to hear the rest of the tale LOL!!!!!

Luckily we get to take a break from it until our last full day.

Hope you are having a great weekend CP!!!!!!

We did! Hope you are still having fun on your Michigan trip.

Now I know what's in it and it's even more enticing. I'm not usually a fan of peach, but I think the other flavors without sound like they would balance it out.

I'd love to get a ressie for our first night there, but alas, all booked up. I can get lunch the next day I'm trying to decide whether or not I should.

The peach wasn't overwhelming at all!

Did you decide yet?

I can't recommend Rose & Crown enough. It's so delicious!

It really is!

Cute pictures! Poor Connor with his Kim Possible envy going on. Hope you get to sneak in one more mission before the week is over. How long do they take to do? Did Chelsea like them too? I really know very little about them!

We did manage to do "some" on Friday. Chelsea really liked them, too. They take about 30 minutes and are very interactive and cute. I would definitely do one on your Epcot day.

Dinner looks nice, esp the beverage! I have never eaten at R&C. I always think about it but have never made it there.

It was a very nice relaxing meal with a great view!

And regarding Key West one of my college friends got married at the Marriott there and I was in the wedding. This was when Grumpy and I were married but pre-kids. I think we spent like 4 days there. It was nice but I'll second the debauchery and public drunkeness and some just downright weirdness! LOL! We did a lovely sunset cruise and saw Hemingway's house. Most of the weird stuff we saw after the sun went down! This was a while ago though, back in 1995.

I guess we won't plan on being out at night too much. We are always such early-to-bed people on vacation that we probably will never see any of Key West's infamous nightlife.

Poor Connor, he just can't get away from Kim Possible - so frustrating! Sometimes they just can't let things go, can they? Glad Charles was able to calm him down, Dads can be so good at that. "Oh-oh" on the plan to do it another day, doesn't sound like it will have a good outcome.:scared1: Loved the review of Rose & Crown, we'll be eating there on our trip too! Looks yummy, and how nice that you got an outside table. I'm really enjoying your report, you're a great writer!:goodvibes

Thank you so much! Yes, thank goodness Charles was there to deal with Connor. He is always able to put a stop to the temper tantrums so much better than I can. You will definitely enjoy your meal at Rose and Crown.

Fist of all, a Happy Belated birthday to Ms. Chelsea!! Chelsea, I hope you had a wonderful day! :wizard:

She did have a great day and even used your cards that you had made her to write thank-yous today!

I really like the Rose and Crown - the atmosphere was fun and I remember our food being very good. Yum!!

We had a great time there!

So you're heading down to Key West, huh? Fun! It looks like a really neat place. I'm interested to hear about your plans for that trip as well! :thumbsup2

That's the plan right now (there is still a little part of me that is hoping to convince Charles to do Disney again, but everyone is so excited about KW I don't see that happening).

Thanks for the review of R&C, we will hopefully get our ADR there for our October trip. The food looks great and so does the drink. My DD hates birds though, so do you think we should make sure to eat inside? I didn't even think of that!

I can't wait to hear how your ADRs go tomorrow! There was only one bird that paraded up and down the walk on the other side of the railing. However, there are two or three other rows of tables that are not right on the water. You could request one of those and then the birds won't be anywhere near you.

Chelsea is so cute knocking on doors and "trying on" dresses. Sorry about the KP drama, the world/World can be a cruel, cruel place.

She cracks me up when she gets into a posing mood.

Connor was definitely disgruntled with the world/World.

Your Welcome :goodvibes Glad to hear the rest of the night went smoothly and you had a great time . I def will do that , Rose Crown and Royal Pub it is !

This trip had its fair share of drama (at least a little bit every single day).

Not that I'm enabling or anything :rolleyes1

Welsh Dragon

3/4 ounce melon liqueur
1/2 ounce green crème de menthe
to taste orange juice
to taste pineapple juice
Method of preparation:

Mix all ingredients together, blending well. Pour over ice. Enjoy!

Oh, yummy!!! You know this would be the perfect drink to have to celebrate St. George's Day on April 23rd -- it being a Welsh Dragon and all!

Great update Jackie! I am glad to hear that your DH helped get Connor calmed down! Chelsea is so cute with the Alice dress! Your view from Rose and Crown looked GREAT! That Welsh Dragon looks YUMMY!!!!:goodvibes

Thank you! I really miss the days when Chelsea would have actually worn the Alice dress! The view and the drink were just wonderful!

Hi CP
I've been reading your TR but amit I don't read all of the comments. I just saw eanesmom's post re. Key West. I spent two weeks down there in March, please feel free too PM me if there are any questions I might be able to answer.
Lynn

Oh, I am going to PM you tomorrow with some questions! Thanks, Lynn!

Oh Jackie,

I have been on the go all weekend and I saw your update this morning. I didn't have time to comment or I would have been late for church.

I am glad you waited then.

I love that drink you had at R&C. That picture of Chelsea at dinner is absolutely adorable.

That drink really hit the spot! Thanks -- Chelsea knows how to turn on the smile for pictures.

I am soo glad you got a rest, but what a bummer to have Conner still upset over the Kim Possible missions. Cute song, by the way. And, yes, I have heard it before. My kids aren't THAT old!

I used to love the show before this trip.

I love all your R&C pictures. I had an ADR there for September, but canceled it when I decided to go "deluxe" because I wanted to add a signature - Flying Fish. I hope that I don't regret canceling because I have never eaten there. Oh well - there will always be another chance.

I have heard such wonderful things about Flying Fish -- I bet you don't even give a thought to Rose and Crown while you are there!

I may have to try R and C..........just for the drink.

FYI Jordan -- there is a bar on the inside where you can order the drink to go. :thumbsup2

Wow! I think I'll be dreaming about that bread basket and dragon drink tonight. They look delicious!!!

They were so good!

Uh, oh...the KP drama will continue?

On Friday -- the day we return to Epcot.

Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind, I heard Charles asking Chelsea what time they should wake me up. I opened my eyes to glance at the clock and it was about 4:30 -- time to get up and get ready to head back to Epcot for dinner, Test Track, Soarin’, and our Illuminations DIS meet.

I love DW naps!!!

Your update made me very grateful that I kept KP a secret from my kids.

Well, Connor did get to finish his Norway mission -- he just wanted to keep doing all of the other different ones.

Thank you -- she was playing the "Look at what a charming child I am in comparison to my pain of a little brother" card. LOL!

What happens at the end of the KP missions? I wonder if it's even worth it.

:lmao: I feel a connection with Chelsea. I have a younger brother too!

BTW the Welsh Dragon looks yummy!

OK...had to catch up! Missed a week!!! Ready for the next update!!!! Did the drink do the trick and calm your nerves a bit??

Love the picture of Chelsea with the Alice dress, she was really getting into the spirit of the UK for sure!!

Poor Connor, it's so hard to understand schedules, boredom for others, that you can be fascinated, despite others disinterest, as well as the fact that some things are just too much in the heat, when you are his age.

Oh my gosh, was that a totally inappropriate run on sentence or what?

The Welsh Dragon had peach schnapps, melon liqeur, green crème de menthe, orange juice, and pineapple juice. It was soooo good and just what I needed! You can order it from the bar inside to go if you want (I read about that on somebody's TR or on the drinks thread).

Not that I'm enabling or anything :rolleyes1

You either do another one or turn in the phone. It is very cute though.

:lmao: I feel a connection with Chelsea. I have a younger brother too!

Me too! So I remember only too clearly how she feels sometimes. :lmao:

BTW the Welsh Dragon looks yummy!

It was very yummy!

OK...had to catch up! Missed a week!!! Ready for the next update!!!! Did the drink do the trick and calm your nerves a bit??

Yes, the Welsh Dragon worked its magic quite well! :thumbsup2

Love the picture of Chelsea with the Alice dress, she was really getting into the spirit of the UK for sure!!

Most definitely!

Poor Connor, it's so hard to understand schedules, boredom for others, that you can be fascinated, despite others disinterest, as well as the fact that some things are just too much in the heat, when you are his age.

Yes, it is difficult to understand, and Connor is easily consumed by games like that. :sad2:

Oh my gosh, was that a totally inappropriate run on sentence or what?

That sounds delicious, too!

Looks you had a lovely dinner at Rose & Crown. We really enjoyed our meal there too, although I went with the Magic Star cocktail - I am a sucker for a glow cube. :rotfl: I like to put them in my drinks around the house once in while.

I will second or third what has been said about Duval Street in Key West, with kids I think I would limit it to a day time excursion. My DH and I went before we had DD and really enjoyed all Key West had to offer. We did one of the trolley tours and loved it! We stayed at one of the hotels a little further from the beach and Old Town, but we got a great deal and they ran shuttles to their private beach and Old Town so we didn't touch our car when we were there. It was great to sit on our balcony in the morning and have breakfast and read and then head to the pool or beach. We'd usually head to Old Town for a late lunch and some beverages and then stroll and tour. It was an awesome vacation. Send me a PM if there is anything you'd like more details on. I am sure you guys will have an awesome time. Sometime it is nice to try something new, we tend to get stuck in vacation ruts, before DD it was Las Vegas, now it is Disney. :upsidedow

Hm...that Welsh Dragon looks like something I might enjoy! And I love the fish and chips! Well, I've never had them at Rose & Crown, but I've had them at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop CS, and I thought they were supposed to be pretty similar.
:lmao: about the Kim Possible theme haunting you...

I am so glad that your nap helped and that you awoke somewhat refreshed and ready to RETURN so the scene of the incident...EPCOT!! Now, may I point out that this is another great example of why doing CS is such a winner?? I mean if you hadn't made the ADR for R&C, you could have easily picked a DIFFERENT park and avoided even the possiblity of reopening any wounds that might have festered during the "break" back at the resort!! :rolleyes1

It did appear that once you first got back to Epcot, everyone was having some fun and enjoying themselves, smiling for the pictures and just glad to be at Disney!!

I intentionally waited to reply, because my young Buddy, Connor, seems to be garnering at least some sympathy from the masses!! :yay: I certainly didn't want to jinx that bit of unexpected "luck"........therefore, I have held off in telling you what a great update and I am glad that y'all were back on track and enjoying everything that Disney has to offer!!! :thumbsup2

As to not stop the wave of sympathy coming Connor's way.......may I suggest.....

[Connor, still suffering under the cruel disappointment of having only solved one such mission, was becoming progressively more and more unglued. When I asked him what was wrong, he said, “It’s everyone doing the KP missions. I can hear the KP ringtone, and it’s not fair that everyone else is having so much fun!”

Ah, the bitter injustices of the world/World. :rolleyes1

How hard it is to learn life lessons while on vacation, especially while at Disney World..........when it is clear that the only goal of this young child was to only have as much fun as everyone else was?? :sad1:

Yep, having been on a QS plan could have helped out a good bit in the situation. Just, by being able to grab a bite at an CS place, in any park, at anytime and removing the temptation of KP before it even arose that evening!!...........POOR CONNOR!!! :sad1:

One of these days I'm going to have to make it to the Rose and Crown. It looks lovely, and your desert sounds fantastic.

The pic are too funny though. Chelsea is such a ham for the camera!

YUM!!

Um, you have no idea how lucky I am that I'm missing half the ingredients - otherwise I'm not sure I could resist trying this drink right now. I really should go back to work this afternoon instead. I LOVE Midori - so looking forward to trying this concoction!

:welcome: I am so glad you are enjoying the TR! I love the title Ravenous Beast Woman -- I will have to remember that one! Charles is a type 1 diabetic as well -- it's been tough. I think Charles was just not feeling the Disney magic this trip! :confused3

T1D is a real trip! :headache: DH just started on the pump which has been pretty good. Does Charles check his glucose often? I have to nag DH to. :sad2:

His sugars are ALWAYS better while we are in Disney World (and he consequently feels much better!). I think it must be all the walking and *ahem* me reminding him to check his glucose every couple of hours. Gotta keep those diabetics healthy!

PS. I must try the dragon drink!!!

Okay, so I was officially 30 pages behind in this TR!:scared1: I know, life has been busy. I must admit, I didn't read all of the replies, just some of them. But wow, you've been busy. Your giraffe pictures are absolutely fantastic!! I have never had that kind of encounter on the safari. Hopefully, something will happen in November when I take my older sister for the first time! I'm sorry for you for your meltdown, but you know what, we all have to have them sometime. I can remember a few in my trips to WDW. I love the picture of Chelsea with the Alice dress, and the one with her knocking on the door! Ooh, that dragon drink looks wonderful! I'm wondering if I can go in to the bar and just try that. We won't be doing TS this year (to my dismay), so I won't have the opportunity to eat in. Loving all the updates, keep them coming!:yay:

Finally all caught up again...

Sorry about the KP situation! I can certainly understand how frustrating that would have been for everyone. Fortunately Zachary was OK with stopping after one mission. I was really lucky - it could have been a bad situation for us too.

I love how close the giraffe was during your safari with the animatronics! :rotfl: That sounds like something one of my kids would say.

Sorry you had your little moment in China... but I can understand that too. Heat, hunger & indecisiveness all at once can create a bad situation! :scared:

Can't wait to hear about your Epcot evening. popcorn::

Connor -- My nine-year-old son. He will be in the fourth grade this year, and I often find myself having conversations with him that include references to ninja jijitsu, video games, and the inevitable, unanswerable questions like, "What would happen if monkeys tried to take over the world?"
**************************

I LOVE THAT! I thought my 9 year old only asked questions like that! CONSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

I am subscribing! I was at AKL the month before you and LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!

First, Connor turns ten in September, so he is right at the end of having to order off the kids' menus. Since we were on the Dining Plan, he had to -- this was the first of many times when he would express his displeasure at having to do so, and let's face it -- the kids' menus at Disney are abysmal. Connor was standing there reading off his choices: Garden Salad with Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, or Peanut Butter and Jelly.
***************************

I am thinking that Connor and my son would get along great! My son (who was on the verge of turning 9 in May) also was very upset with the fact that he had to order off of the kid's meal. There were even a few times I gave up my adult meal and ate his kid's meal because there just wasn't anything he liked on the kid's meal!
