Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

...Chelsea, Connor, and I headed to Asia for the much-coveted Expedition Everest Fastpasses. On our way back we paused to examine the warnings:

I am sure that if this were really a hotel, I would have dithered around about staying here, too. ;) & I'd have been right behind you for ressies-great theming, location and access to food-I've also thought Disney needed an Asian themed hotel...

Chelsea and Connor indulged me with posing at the ricksaw:

I saw bless their cooperative little hearts-they really do seem like lovely children...:goodvibes

We chatted for a couple of minutes. The whole time Connor was tugging on my arm and making strange animal noises. I was secretly mortified. For a year and a half I had been filling my PTRs and TRs with witty stories of my son, and here he was acting like a toddler or worse. :headache: It really is quite amazing when they decide to do this stuff isn't? David is 6 5/6 and is also extremely intelligent with an almost dry-erudite sense of humor for his age can also go to the other extreme-acting like a 3 year old if he is too tired, hungry or wanting something not forthcoming-I really think they were related in a past life...

Before we entered, Connor showed us what he expected to see the bats doing:

OK this is cute...:goodvibes

Ok please forgive my following TWILIGHT joke if you take your TWILIGHT very seriously like my dd..."Look it's Edward Cullen taking a resting mulling over his relationship with Bella...":lmao:

This one was my favorite one -- he seemed so content to just hang there with his wings splayed out.

The kids wanted to ride Kali, but I was not in the mood to get wet that early in the morning, Um-excuse me but will you write me a note so I can get out of doing Splash M in the morning?
so where would we head next?

Where are you heading next...:surfweb:

Connor wasn't too sure about this whole "Tigers in the Forest" warning:

Luv the expression on Connor's face... :lmao:

How awesome that you ran into Anita!! Our kids always seem to know when their antics will annoy us the most, don't they?!

Your tiger pictures are wonderful. The bats... I'll pass on them, thanks!!

Kathy

I dunno where the heck I have been but I'm here now and all caught up. The create your own ears are really neat. I LOVED the Tusker House breakfast when we went as well. Great job so far!

Just got caught up on the updates. We have never done a breakfast at AK and we have never done the jungle trek so two great things we may have to try. Thanks for the info and pictures of them. We found the Boma juice in a store. It's by minute maid, orange/guava and something else. Green container frozen juice. takes you right back there....

I'm glad Connor is comfortable at WDW.
That is the one place in the world EVERYONE should be outgoing :)

Just discovered your TR, read the whole thing, and laughed out loud A LOT. I was having a "I wish I was back at Disney--real bad!" kind of day, and this was just what I needed! BTW, we were at AKL too June 6 to June 8th and "our spot" at the pool was the one right in front of your balcony (the deck area between the bridge and the slide entrance). It was our first time to stay there as well, and it was such an amazing experience. I am hooked on AKL now--I wish we could stay there every time!!! Great TR--keep it coming!!!!!!

I completely agree about the breakfast food at Tusker House. :thumbsup2 That's too bad about Charles having to go back to the room. :(

Awesome pictures during your walk! I love to watch bats - they're pretty cool. Just as long as they're not flying near me. ;)

Looks like the boys and I are going to drive down and meet Chuck halfway and spend a weekend together. The boys and I will probably spend a couple of extra days exploring. I think somewhere north of Atlanta would be about halfway for both of us. Do you have any suggestions? I'd like a smaller city/town that has lots to do - maybe a lake and some museums? I was looking at Gainesville?

That's great, he's so inquisitive!

He loves learning which I am so thankful for. He was cracking us up last night because we were at a friend's house for the Fourth, and one of the kids was hesitant about walking in the grass in the dark. Well, Mark (DH of my friend) said, "Don't worry -- there might be tarantulas, but it is all good." Connor piped up, "Tarantulas are only found in South America and we are not in South America." LOL!

Ha! I'll tell my DH.

They are really so very neat!

I feel the same way about my son. Especially when we take photos in the same area of the park, or the same attraction, it's really amazing to see the changes.

You know, I don't really notice the changes from day-to-day, but when I see the photos, I am like, "Oh my goodness, they are growing up!"

Connor would like a copy of that!

I don't even know what these things are!!!

I'll just apologize for him right now.........
You know I don't let him keep that wagon parked at home! :headache:

:lmao: I can see why the wagon isn't allowed at home! Some of those things look downright dangerous!

Is this Southern?

I used some context clues to try to determine the meaning but decided to go to Webster to be sure.....:rotfl2:

Verb: dither - act nervously; be undecided; be uncertain fret - be agitated or irritated

I didn't think it was southern -- do y'all not use that word in Kansas?

Brother, you have to know the whole story.....

but of course you will have to wait until Wigd gets to that day in her TR! :thumbsup2

This sounds promising! :lmao:

Where are you heading next...:surfweb:

They are pretty cooperative when they want to be.

Your DS sounds so much like Connor -- Connor has a very dry sense of humor as well!

Love your Twilight joke! :rotfl:

Great report!!! I am enjoying it!!!!!

Thank you so much! :goodvibes

Luv the expression on Connor's face... :lmao:

Me too! I told him to act scared and that's what he gave me! :lmao:

How awesome that you ran into Anita!! Our kids always seem to know when their antics will annoy us the most, don't they?!

Yes, they do! They seem to have special sensors!

Your tiger pictures are wonderful. The bats... I'll pass on them, thanks!! Kathy

Thanks! The bats were really neat though and you didn't feel like they could fly through the bars or anything.

I dunno where the heck I have been but I'm here now and all caught up. The create your own ears are really neat. I LOVED the Tusker House breakfast when we went as well. Great job so far!

Hi, Kat! :welcome: Thanks! Do you have a trip planned soon???

Just got caught up on the updates. We have never done a breakfast at AK and we have never done the jungle trek so two great things we may have to try. Thanks for the info and pictures of them. Both were super fun! I will have to put the juice on the grocery list -- Chelsea will be thrilled! :thumbsup2

I'm glad Connor is comfortable at WDW.

I agree and I am so glad my children feel at home there!

:welcome: I am so glad you are here and that my TR eased your Disney Blues! I know what you mean about wanting to stay at AKL everytime -- I am having a hard time wanting to stay anywhere else!

I completely agree about the breakfast food at Tusker House. That's too bad about Charles having to go back to the room.

I felt bad that he had to go back, but he needed the rest. I could tell he was just drained.

Awesome pictures during your walk! I love to watch bats - they're pretty cool. Just as long as they're not flying near me. ;)

My feelings exactly!

Looks like the boys and I are going to drive down and meet Chuck halfway and spend a weekend together. The boys and I will probably spend a couple of extra days exploring. The only thing I am sure about with Gainesville is Lake Lanier is there -- there is quite a bit to do there. I am not sure about museums though. I think Dahlonega is near there and they have a whole gold-panning thing going on there -- I am sure there is a museum attached. I hope that helps a little. :goodvibes Now Atlanta, itself, has quite a bit to do -- Zoo Atlanta, the Carlos Museum, the High Museum, the Center for Puppetry Arts, the Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coke, the Cyclorama...

Beautiful pictures of the animals! The bats kinda freak me out, but this is the second TR I've read recently where there was a comment about how cute they were. And they are behind bars? I like that! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I love the pic of the tiger drinking water - GREAT shot. And Connor's bat pose, it reminds me of your last TR. :goodvibes

Where are you off to next...hmm...my guess is the Lion King Show???

:surfweb: I love sitting here reading your posts! Connor reminds me of my 7 year old...he is SUCH a drama king when it comes to fish smells, he will make himself throw up, so we have to avoid it....Also, he cries alot when scolded, its nice he is not the only little boy this way!

Jackie, Tell Connor that we have a Tarantula named Rosie living in our basement for the summer(in a aquarium). She's our classroom pet. I would hate for her to get loose in the yard......

Have you done Nemo before? We have yet to see it.

Yes - I have seen it twice. It's really good. My last time was 6/2008, so I'd like to see it again in September. The presentation and puppeteering is so unique and they really DO sing. It is not just a soundtrack, but sounds like it is cause the vocals are flawless. Plus they are running around and singing.

Ah, thank you! I think she is going to be absolutely gorgeous, but all moms, I am sure, think that about their girls. I can see her becoming a teenager although it is hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that she will be in 7th grade this year. :scared:

Yup - this is the changing year. DS 16's friend who you met on my TR has a sister who just finished 7th grade. I saw her in March and then I saw her in June. I reacted like :scared1: See looked so different in two months, yet it was there happening all along. Same thing was Chelsea. It's all happening beneath the surface waiting to shock an unexpecting parent!

:

Sorry MeMom - didn't mean to get you choked up.

Loved your update. Something that always amazes me about your TRs is how you and your family seem to stop and smell the roses along the way - and remember to snap some pics, too. You make it seem like you're the only ones in the parks! Just seems so relaxing!

I love that Connor is comfortable chatting it up with the CMs. Sounds like he was very interested in the topic, too! :)

:wave2: Hi, I was in the mood for another friendly TR and I decided on yours.

I started with the PTR and read all of it until now. You did a great job! :thumbsup2

It was so fun following along with all your families adventures.
You have adorable kids, cute pets and I do believe a converted "WDWfan" husband.

I enjoyed all the little Disney touches you added along the way.
We do alot of the same thing in prep for a trip.
I will have to borrow some of your ideas like the Mickey sundae. :)

I was so happy to read about the Tusker House bkfst as it was on our list of ADR's. I can't wait to go next year.

Hope you can use another friend on this ride.....

Great pics! I love AK too, it is so photogenic! And the bats are super cool. So unusual and interesting!

Too funny on Connor during your DISmeet. Isn't that the way? I have had those moments too when you are like "what has gotton into you child???"

Allyson

Oh and poor Charles having to miss out on AK. He isn't seeing much so far in this trip. It is more like a Mom and Kids trip. I hope he gets out with you all soon!

Haha, this just made me laugh, thinking about Connor that DIS-meet..... It was a different story when it was HIS DISkid-meet. :rotfl2: I know off topic but I was thinking and it just popped out!:rolleyes1
