Actually--it's a moment in history, so yes, I am definitely interested in it. I remember when Charles and Diana got married some people I worked with and I got up at like 4 a.m. and went to work to have tea and scones and watch the wedding. It was a lot of fun! Although the British monarchy does not play such an important role in policy in the UK anymore it is interesting to see what happens to them.
I don't know if I'll watch. Too early, and I'm sure it will be replayed often enough, but I'm interested. I remember when Charles and Diana married as well, and when she had her kids. In fact, I was a huge Princess Diana fan. I had several of those books that Waldenbooks used to sell with tons of pictures of her. I even had scrapbooks that I made with cut out photos and news articles about her. Mainly I just loved her style!

It was so sad when she was killed. Since then, I haven't followed much of the royal news, but it will be interesting to see how the wedding goes. :bride:

I went back and forth with AI and Survivor. It's getting so close with each show. I have no idea who'll win either. But with Rob getting 2 votes last night I have a feeling someone will switch things up and he won't last much longer.
I'm sure not getting up early to watch the wedding but I'll see the recaps later on in the day. Can't wait to see her dress.
Add me to the list of people who are in need of a Disneyland fix.
I'm planning on going once more before my pass expires in June.

So am I the only one who could care less about the wedding Friday?? You'd think with all the hoopla that we were all british.....I just don't get.......it really doesn't mean anything to the americans does it?? :confused3

I'm not sure why where you're from means you wouldn't be interested in world events :confused3 I may not get up to watch it live, but I'm sure I'll catch it some time during the day. British, American, Canadian, whatever, it's a moment in history that many people are interested in watching take place.

Sarah - I'm trying to vote, but I have to wait for a confirmation e-mail from Disney Family so I can log on :thumbsup2

Beth - Are you ready for your trip yet??? Do you have the weather all charted out :rolleyes1 I hope Noelle feels better today (and that no one else feels unwell!!). Take lots of pics, 'K??? If you feel like a little side trip to, say the Anaheim area next week, we'll do lunch (or at least ice cream :upsidedow) C'mon, you know you wanna!

Wendy - Sorry you didn't get in for the marathon (yikes, I'd probably be sighing in relief ;))

OK, back to work............

Naw, you're not alone. Heck, until you mentioned it I had no idea it was Friday. I just knew that it was "soonish". I'm more preoccupied with the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Round 2 starts tomorrow and I want to see my Sharks kick the patootie out of the Red Wings.

I think we're in the minority.........

I guess I didn't look at this as being historical, as I tend to look at the "royals" as being celebrities. Just another huge wedding. That may be wrong, but I wasn't raised on following all of that. As most, I'm sure I'll see my fill of highlights & pictures. I admired Diana, but long after her marriage was over & she was out doing her charity work. The day she died was a sad day & pointed out a real issue with paparazzi for anyone in celebrity status.

Didn't mean to annoy anyone, just my ramblings. I was a horrible student in school & history & all that stuff was not of interest to me. I don't tend to be very political......so was just asking why this was such a big deal.

Just having a rough week & should have maybe kept to myself.....sorry again!

No need to not say what you think. What fun would life be if everyone was the same? A Diva should always speak her mind!

I'm aware enough that it's happening. That's good for me ;) Besides, I get home from class after 9 tonight (hoping to get out early) and then start work at 5a tomorrow. I'll get up early enough to get ready for work, but that's it.

BTW, putting a shameless plug out there, lol. I have a thread for requesting signature graphics now, so whenever anybody wants one at all or a new one, check it out. They are fun to make and I love seeing them around the forum: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2710531

Aw Sherri, That is exactly right on. :thumbsup2

Laurie, We all have different opinions and that is just fine. Life would be boring if we all felt the same.

Just like me from AI. I love Scotty the most. I think most ladies here would not vote for him. Oh well......I still like him.

I hope you get some sleep. You so sound like you are deprived of it, and nothing good comes from that. Please take care of yourself too. I know with all of your children that does come hard to do, but you need to try.

Now back to the wedding. As for me, I love this kind of stuff. So romantic and so historical. I mean, just think about it. Prince William goes back to 100s of years of royalty. Back to cutting off of heads, just because they felt like it. Back to overthrowing each other, cuz they were jealous. Back to King Henry the IV and Peter and Catherine the Great, and more. It's just crazy. Heck they were crazy. Too much interbreeding if you ask me. LOL! Things have changed of course, but if you have ever seen Buckingham Palace, the Crown Jewels, The Tower if London, the Royal Guards, all carrying on with tradition from years gone past, it is just fascinating. To make matters more interesting, is that the Prince is marrying a commoner. Ooh....just like us! LOL! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
There is still hope for us after all. :lmao:
(LOL...can you tell I love history?)

Cheryl, I love how you celebrated Charles and Diana's wedding. Now there is true devotion. Seeing how I will be watching Luca, and on the road tomorrow, I will probably have to catch up later on the wedding. princess:

Bridget and Kathy, Getting back to this marathon thing coming up. If you win, there is a fireman with a Tiffany necklace waiting for you? How much is that necklace worth may I ask? Youza... :woohoo:

Wendy, so sorry you didn't make it. Keep trying! :cheer2:

Beth, How dare Nicole getting sick. I hope she felt good at school today! :thumbsup2

That's cool Jess! :cool1:

I didn't make it in. :sad1:

Sorry :( One of the groups I almost joined didn't make it in either.

I for one am staying up to watch the wedding! I have been studying British history for many years now. It's my history too - my ancestors have been traced from the 1700's-1100's there. At least the 1100's is where the trail ends. BBC has the festivities starting at midnight our time. I will see how long I last! :rotfl: someone will be a zombie tomorrow....Prince William is just a few weeks older than me. I told my mom lots of times while growing up that she should have sent me away to elite schools so I could have been a contender for his bride!

Three day weekend for me!!! Tomorrow night our church is hosting a family movie night so I will be taking my kids and our youth pastor's 4 kids. Should be a fun night! Saturday I have my sewing tutorial for my Singer House Party I was selected for. Singer already sent me tons of free goodies, and after the tutorial I get to borrow their newest machine. Eeee! That night is firepit night at my pastor's house - always a fun time. Lots of stuff to do, as usual. Summer needs to get here quick so I can just have fun and not worry about lesson plans :P

Beth - Are you ready for your trip yet???
No! LOL I spent hours today packing and I am still not done. It's exhausting packing for 6 people for 8 days!!

Didn't mean to annoy anyone, just my ramblings.

No worries. And I'm sorry you've had a rough week. I hope things get better for you.

Exactly. We won't all agree. No big deal.

Neat! You go girl!!

Beth, How dare Nicole getting sick. I hope she felt good at school today! :thumbsup2
Noelle ;) is doing okay. Better, sore throat still though, so we'll see. Thanks for asking.
Enjoy your time with Luca tomorrow!

Prince William is just a few weeks older than me.
Wow, I feel old!!!!!! Enjoy your 3-day weekend!!

Nighty night, ladies! :hippie:

I'm with you! I love this history making stuff! I may not be British, but I have watched the Prince grow up as I have been growing up. It's great to see him try and lead a some what normal life despite his history. Who can say their grandma is the Queen?

I can LOL. My husband used to call the daughter "the queen" and I was the "queen mother" and best of all he was "servant". She was like 6-9 maybe and one day he asked her a question and she said, " well, servant I am the queen so we are stopping at the store and you are getting me a beef stick and candy bar." And he did :). (He drove her to school and picked her up 99% of time. Being retired had some major perks. Bragging on husband now bear with me-- he would also give her a small bowl of cold cereal while he fixed her hot breakfast-- spoiled i know but in a sweet caring way. :) )

Ok back to the wedding of the century. Yep I am going to be watching. Gotta see what head piece she will pick. I like the flowers idea then changing after wedding. Or heck no crown or head piece if she does not want. It is her day and she should have final say :).

Nightie Night Diva's

Good morning Divas!

Wow, what a beautiful wedding. I didn't plan to be up to watch it, but stuff happened.

Good morning everyone!!

I think for me the reason the wedding is such a big deal is it is a real life fairytale! :) It is the last little bit of real fairytale magic that all us "commoners" can watch and say hey wish that was my life! Even if we probably really wouldn't want to have to deal with all the BS they have to deal with it is still fun to think about sometimes. Esp for us Disney fanatics who have grown up with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and such and all wanted a prince to come rescue us this is something that we can watch and dream about.

I did watch Diana's wedding and like many I thought she was so beautiful and such a neat person. I felt so bad for her with everything that went on with her life and cried when she died and watched her funeral. I was a teenager when she got married and an adult most of the time she was an adult. She really wasn't THAT much older than me. I think she was 18 or 19 when she got married and I was 15 I think. So it was definitely neat to relate to her.

I didn't stay up this time but I think Shane may have tivoed it. Don't know if our tv will have gotten the whole thing or not but I think Kate looked very beautiful and actually more sophisticated than Diana did. And I agree I love following the whole history of the monarchy even if they are more just figure heads now.

Anyway on to other news I have to say I was quite shocked by Idol last night. I won't spoil it for those who may not have watched it yet but I was NOT happy with the results! Knew that that would happen eventually but am pretty bummed about it.

Katy had her last day tutoring yesterday and got a certificate of appreciation so she was excited and they got a little celebration at school. I will admit I am glad to not have to get up at 5:30 any more and take them separately although starting next year I am going to have to do it anyway when they go to separate schools so I won't get to rest for long LOL. Then last night we went to Katy's orientation and she didn't have a lot of choices for electives but she picked an art/computers/spanish. They apparently switch it up every quarter. Her only other choices were choir or band and she is not into music. All the rest of her classes are already pretty much set and she got into the Honors classes so she just doesn't know her actual schedule of what she got when until the week before school starts when we pick up the schedule.

Today I have to run in to work for a few but otherwise not much else going on and Shane is working a LONG day. Left at 5 and won't be home till midnight. And then he is helping a friend do some work on his house tomorrow so the girls and I are on our own tomorrow and then Sunday is when Shelby is meeting her two friends and we are going to the movie.

So that is pretty much our weekend.

Hope everyone has a good day and has some fun plans for the weekend!

Beth I know you are super excited!!

Morning. Can't think. So tired......
MorningCoffee.jpg

I went to bed at midnight, and woke up at 4 a.m.! :faint: Not planning to, it just happened. Just wide awake after only four hours of sleep. I did watch some of the wedding, but I was so tired and my eyes so sleepy, I could barely focus. lol
She looked lovely though, and I hope they are happy together. It made me a bit sad to watch it, thinking of Diana and how it was a shame she wasn't there. Just as a fan of Diana's and as a mom myself, it's sad to think about her missing from his big day. :(

Well, lots to finish up today! Even though we don't leave until Sunday morning, I want to get as much done today as I can so I'm not rushing around stressed out on Saturday.

TGIF!! Have a great one, ladies!!! :)

A Diva should always speak her mind!

Hmmm.. tag fairy?? Where are you????

And you do such a great job!!

Bridget and Kathy, Getting back to this marathon thing coming up. If you win, there is a fireman with a Tiffany necklace waiting for you? How much is that necklace worth may I ask? Youza... :woohoo:

Let's see.... SF Firemen.. in Tuxedos.... holding a Tiffany necklace on a silver platter.... PRICELESS!!

No! LOL I spent hours today packing and I am still not done. It's exhausting packing for 6 people for 8 days!!

I hear you on that! I am the family packer and we only have 3!! Good luck!

Last night, 3 of my close friends and I hosted a fundraiser for the African orphanage that we worked at last September. We had brought back lots of African crafts, jewelry, etc. and sold it to raise money. We were hoping to raise between $2-$3000 - I was so shocked when we realized that we raised over $7000!! We are committing half of that to make sure that all the kids get a glass of milk 5 times a week for a year (milk is a luxury item and the kids do not get it). In the meantime, we are buying goats so that as they mature, the kids will have their own supply. I am exhausted but so happy this morning!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks Cheryl. This wasn't a high pressure fundraiser (I've done those!) and we did not have big ticket items to sell so it was heartwarming to see what we raised.
