Diva & 27th Anniv Trip w/1500+ Pics, Photopass starts #765!!

Remember the bags I made.....posted pics earlier of them in the report......people picked their stuff to put in the bags & take home with them......I heard of a number of them state they were going to take them home to their kids. Michelle brought the fresh fruit.....which I thought would make a nice addition......a healthy snack back at the motel rooms.

You know, only one baby chicken peep got grabbed........all the others remained at the end of the party.

I usually eat them once a year and prob only one they are SOOOO sweet, literally straight sugar! but my Mom loves them and the minute they hit the shelves each year she will juggle her whole days meals to eat them and not totally spike her blood sugar, I can't imagine lobving them that much!

We tend to eat so much "junk" at DL that we carry bananas, oranges, apples & the like in our backpack so we know we eat something good at least occasionally LOL.

I love marshmallows, but not peeps.....gross!

I have bananas in my room to have each evening........also helps with leg cramps which I've been known to get after being on my feet all day.

I am loving your trip report and can't wait for more. Looks like a lovely group of ladies having a great time. I particularly like the picture of you at the "Partners Statue".

I understand you must have felt at loose ends being there without the family but I have just the cure for that. Practice. :goodvibes Just keep taking your "ladies only" trips and in no time you will be an expert at traveling alone.

Nice pictures too.

Thank you.....they really were a great group!!

I think going away for 8 days as my first escape probably wasn't a bright idea, but by the end of the trip.....I was feeling pretty good. (and I agree....need to keep going on these ladies trips) ;)

Always love reading your TR's Laurie, keep up the good work!

Hi Cathy!! Thanx!! Love doing them.....so glad I have people that love reading them!!

As always Laurie you take so many pics. I didn't get the shutterfly info from Beth but I am so glad you are posting your pics on here. There are so many new ladies this year that I am not quite sure who some of them are but it really makes me feel like I am there with you posting so much. THANK you for that!!

And Sherrie Laurie is right. In years past we have always had lots of fun stuff (used to be strictly desserts) but it is nice because most people don't usually eat much of the stuff on the table AT the party but rather take it in the bags and I know I usually bring most of it home for my kids but a lot of the gals take the stuff into the parks for little snacks like the gum or life savers and such which is nice. Also when we have done exchanges in the past some people go above and beyone. Like the first year we did tote bags and some people did JUST the bag but you could add to it and some people put fun stuff IN the bags and same wtih last year. People decorated pillow cases and then some put stuff IN them and it is really fun because I know I got a whole bag of fun stuff for the park. A poncho, sunscreen, lip balm, kleenex etc. So it makes it really fun!!

I LOVE the meet and greet and think it is a great way to kick off the trip and also meet the new gals and I love the exchange and it is just fun! I also love all the group meals, photos and rides that we do and the scavy hunt is mom and I's FAV! We both really like puzzles and such though!

And Laurie I don't blame you one bit for being upset about the whole card mess. I would be too. I have had that happen before where they put holds on my cards and I know it can be nerve wracking. Esp when you are on a tight budget! I am glad it all got worked out!

That is why I am glad that mom and I can go together because then I don't worry about it. Rather than splitting the room she usually pays for all of it and then we split other things like I buy my plane ticket and I pay for all my meals and other things and that is one thing she gets because she is usually picky about where she stays and whereas I would usually stay in someplace much cheaper she usually wants to stay in someplace closer and a little nicer so she agrees to pay since she doesn't want to make me have to split it since it is more than I would usually want to spend. It works out well for us.

Anyway I am off but can't wait for more. :)

You know me......lots & lots of pics!!

I'll try & finish up day one this morning....but have to go feed the kiddos.

Wow Laurie - you took great photos! I am loving reliving the trip through your report!

Thanx Bridget!! That was the one thing I did a lot of.....picture taking....just wish I would have had the opportunity to do so during the scavy hunt.....but I was too busy working the puzzles.....lol

So after everyone got thru the snack table, we got the attention of the group for a special presentation. Melody designed & decorated the group t-shirt all during the time her sister was terminally ill. Sadly she passed the week before the trip & we wanted to let Mel know how much we loved her & appreciated her. People were asked to bring gift cards or cash to put on a "money" plant. She was very surprised & touched by it.

Love ya Melody!!

Next up was the picture frame exchange. If you wanted to participate, you were asked to bring any size frame (store bought, homemade, decorated, plain, whatever) wrapped up. Some were in wrapping paper, gift bags, totes, etc. The people that brought a frame picked a number from the hat & the number would indicate the order they picked their package. This was a game that got pretty wild at times. Frames could be stolen (of course, no one knew exactly what the frame looked like.....you couldn't open it until everyone had one)

So how it worked: Lets say #1 picks the pink tote......#2 can steal it, making #1 pick a new one. #3 steals the package from #2 & now it's unavailable for anyone else to steal it. The package belonged to the 3rd person to hold it.

I will say that it looked like Jen had her package stolen the most.....she must have had some great looking totes, bags, etc!! :rotfl:

Here are some of the frames......I was really disappointed with my camera this trip......it usually does well in low lighting & with movement.....but I noticed it had a "rattle" to it & think maybe the batteries are a bit loose. All I know is, only about half of the pictures came out good enough to post here. :sad2:

Capri ended up with my frame!!

221.jpg

The frame I got was from Jill......it was a beautiful shadow box with a couple pins, a used parkhopper, a FP, etc. I would have sworn I took a picture of it, but can't find it.......really disappointed I didn't....because it was awesome!!! On the flight home.....most of the stuff came loose, so I can't take one now......heavy sigh!!! Jill did say, I saw supposed to add a few of my own things to it.....so I will have to give the poor thing a make-over now......darned ol' luggage throwers!! (at least the glass didn't break).

We called everyone over for a group picture with our frames:

After taking the picture.....we realized we still had a few ladies missing.....so here's the complete group with their frames!!

People started to head out shortly after the exchange. The committee & a few others stuck around to help with the clean up. All in all, I would have to say the Meet-n-Greet party was a success!!! Seemed like everyone was having a good time & it was a great way to kick off the weekend!!

It looks like the M&G was a huge success! I was really bummed to miss it this year. Darn work!

It would have. But we ended up going over someting pretty important in class that I'm glad I didn't miss. I'll just live through your photos and make sure I'm there next year.

I love all the pics you take unposed and the whole M&G seems like the perfect kick off and way for everyone to get to know people and make plans!
