Ditch my October ROL dreams?

Hi there.

I'm doing a Universal/Disney split stay with four nights at Universal then moving to Disney on Oct 23rd. I'll be at AOA for five nights then POR for six nights.

My plan three months ago, back when I did my 180 ADRs, was to check into AOA then have an evening at AK with a Tusker House ROL dining package and a spectacular few hours experiencing all the wonderful new night time offerings that were due to be unveiled. Hmm.

Since then ROL was 'delayed' and the night time Kilimanjaro Safaris haven't had the greatest reviews.

I want my first evening at WDW to be special and in an ideal world it would be spent at MK but it's a MNSSHP night so that's not happening.

Should I give up hope of ROL on Oct 23rd (I don't know how 'special' a night watching Jungle Book would be given the feedback)? My back up plan at the moment is to do a Star Wars night instead and go to HS.

FYI I have 14 day park hoppers with all the extras.

Well by some reports on this board ROL is due to be back up by the fall but, you never know. If you really think that without it your night wouldn't be as special then I'd do the Star Wars night and do AK night later in the trip. If it will still be special without it then go ahead with your plans. The worst case is your AK night gets delayed but you still get a special first night (since HS is guaranteed to be special). Hope this helps!

Lol, this reminds me how we were about the 7DMT when we were there the March before it opened. It was so frustrating seeing the cars whip around the track with what looked like sand bags for passengers while waiting for our BOG reservation. We were so hoping for a soft opening on that trip. Alas, we had to wait until our next trip to try it.

Yeah, I would. It may be up by then, but I would plan as if it wasn't.

The Sunset Safari gets great reviews ... At actual sunset. It's the nighttime safari that gets worse reviews.

As a regular, I enjoyed the night experience as something different.

EE at night is still the best night ride at WDW, and has been basically a walk-on during the Jungle Book show.

The Tree Awakening show is also quite amazing.

But, I'll vote for your a Star Wars plan ... Only since I missed it (by a few minutes and security doesn't let you into the park) this summer

Yep Star Wars is here to stay. We will be likely seeing similar shows at DL and DLP.

Several rumors suggest September is when RoL will debut. However Disney doesn't want to announce anything until they are absolutely sure. Some of the big issues with RoL have been resolved but I believe some still exist.
