Just read that the distress signal went off on the Magic. Whats the story?
(It was on another cruise board)

Where did you read this?!!!!I hope everyone is OK! If it is true we probably will not hear from anyone on board. If there is an emergency I am sure no one is going to the Internet Cafe.
I just re-read the post and relized the cruisers who just got BACK would have been the ones to have reported any problems.
Any 3/23 cruisers know what this was about? Maybe a drill?

I was there, sleeping. I know of nothing that occured on board that morning or any other day of the cruise. But I will tell you that I heard the horn blow about 12 times sometime that morning but I know of no event that went with it. Would be interested to know what happened if something did.

After experiencing the 3/9 fire cruise, this thread sends a chill up my spine. Has anyone heard anything about this alleged distress signal?

We were on the Disney Magic from 3/23 through 3/30. I'm not aware of any problems during the early morning hours on 3/30. There were no alarms or announcements onboard the ship, and there was no evidence of anything unusual after we got up in the morning.

I bet that someone just put in the wrong date and meant the day of the fire. At 4:30 AM on Saturday, the Magic would have been almost to port, or possibly even in port if it arrived early.

The posting on "another cruise board" which imgoingtodisney referenced was a report from someone who observed the Disney Magic at 4:30 a.m. on March 30 from "from Jetty Park at Port Canaveral."

I just checked the Cruise Critic Board for Disney Cruise Line.

There was a new thread that asked if anyone knew of a problem and there haven't been any replies all day from it. The person that started the thread said they were at Jetty Park, which is at Port Canaveral, and was awakened by alarms and saw a lot of activity Saturday about 4:30am.

The thread was started on 3/31 at 1:02pm and there have been no replies yet.

Thinking it might have been from the Carnival ship that has a similar schedule to the Magic, I checked that Board on the Cruise Critic site and no mention of anything. I also checked the Royal Caribbean Board and also nothing.

I was on the cruise and woke around 5 am, not by any alarms and we were docking at canaveral, nothing out of the ordinary . Heard no mention of any alarms or anything the following morning at Breakfast or on the bus to the airport.
