Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here. My parents want to tent when we go to Disney while DH and I want to stay at resort. They are very athletic hardy people. If we stayed at Wilderness Lodge is there anyway they would be able to walk from their campsite to the Lodge? (A few mile walk would not phase them.) (Or even run, if they went for a morning run and wanted to use our shower for example). If they are going to have to get in their car to come to our resort we might stay elsewhere (thinking about OKW). I'm guessing they would wind up in the 2000 loop. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

For folks who habitually take morning runs, the distance between Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge isn't very far...at least...not that far from the Wilderness Lodge's lobby to the Settlement/Marina end of FW.

There are a couple of other options, too. You could stay in a cabin at FW while they tent camp, OR...if you prefer the Wilderness Lodge, bringing or renting bikes or golf carts might also be an option.

Lastly....if you're just meeting each other to head off somewhere else...many of the boats and busses service both FW and WL...so you could take a bus or boat between the resort and the campground.

it would have to be a bike because you cannot drive the golf carts to the WL from FW and vice versa. I would take the boat to the marina and then catch a FW bus to the site. it would take about the same time and not nearly as much physical work. Id recommend the cabins, but we love the cabins.

If they are in Loop 1500 I would say it would be about 1/2 mile from the loop to the entrance of the path, then 3/4 of a mile to a mile to Wilderness Lodge.

If they are in Loop 2000, I would say a total of 2 miles. If they have bicycles, they could bike the entire way. They can not take a golf cart on the path, even personal golf carts are not allowed.

If showers are what they are wanting, Ft. Wilderness has great comfort stations. They would not "need" to shower at your room.
