We are going down in Oct. with a 32' toy hauler. My husband is in a wheelchair and we had originally thought that the 100-500 loops would be best since they are the closest to the marina, etc, plus we want a preferred site. But since reading through some of these threads it seems like the 1400 loop or near there would be best size wise. We need a little extra room to move the wheelchair around the camper and drop the back door. How far of a walk is it to the marina, settlement, etc. from this loop? Is it doable or will it get old quick? Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I'm no expert on site size and specific loops. I would suggest that you stick to your preference of being close to the marina. When you fax in your loop request, I would, very politely, explain your circumstances and leave it up to the staff to find just the right site for you. I would think that FW would do a good job at finding a good size site for you and keep your need to be close to the marina in mind. If you get to the site that they assign and find that it won't work, just go back to the check-in and tell them.

Good luck and have a great trip!

We were in Loop 300 in Dec and had a wheelchair. It worked out ok and there was plenty of room in site for a large RV. The 700 loop also is as close to the Marina and has large sites as there many Motorhomes in that site. We usually pushed the wheelchair to the Marina/Settlement area rather than taking the bus. Although I am old, it didn't get old for me, we were pushing a 16 yr old and were there for 10 days.

Thanks for the help. What loops do you all feel have the larger sites?

We just returned from the fort today, we had spent the last two weeks there, my dd is in a wheelchair...we stayed in the 500 loop...511 to be exact and the site was plenty big to get her chair around etc...but the walk to the marina, not fun, we scoped it out and I would go with the 100 loop, it is doable in a wheelchair, very close to the marina as close as you'll get. Now I don't really know if the sites are big, I seen plenty of big rigs but I don't want to give you false information, I just know if I ever go back we will be in the 100 loop because transportation with a person in a wheelchair is very trying to say the least and I will get as close to the marina as I can. That being said be aware the fort is VERY spread out.

We were in the 100 loop, and there were certainly some big rigs near us! It is a very convenient loop - a short walk to everything.
