wondering if anyone can help us we are trying to decide if it would be a good idea to join and buy into the disney vacation club befor our next cruise and buy the points instead and use them toward the cruise we know once we buy we will have the points for 40 years does any one know what the cost would be for a 1 bedroom studio for 2 weeks we knowafter we no longer go to disney world we can give our 2 children half the points each ty

Actually Disney is getting ready to open Saratoga Springs and if you buy into that resort, you'll have points for 50 years, all the other resorts are less than 40, if there are any left....you can purchase as little as 150 points(minimum) up to 2000 points.......you can go to www.disneyvacationclub.com and get additional info as far as the cost goes or you can call them directly 1-800-500-3990.....Andy

If you are thinking of giving the points to your children in the future, you probably want to think about purchases one set of points for each child. For example, if you have two kid, buy two sets of 150 points. You can't split them up later on. The contract has to stay as it is.

DVC has five distinct seasons, over which the point costs for any given room will vary. If you want to pick a specific time of year during which you normally travel, someone could easily give you an estimate.

Also, you might want to be a little clearer on the room type in which you are interested. DVC has Studios and 1 Bedrooms as two different classes of accommodation.

A studio is basically an enhanced WDW Deluxe resort room. Studios are a bit larger than the standard room at the Grand Floridian, AKL or any of the other deluxes, and they also feature an in-room kitchenette.

The One Bedroom adds many more amenities. The 1B has separate living and sleeping quarters. The main bedroom features a king bed, and master bath with a whirlpool tub. The room also has a full kitchen, dining area, sofa bed in the living room, balcony, washer / dryer, and much more.

Both types of rooms will sleep 4 adults. It's just a question of how "deluxe" you want your accommodations to be.

You answer depends upon:

1. The resort hotel.
2. The type of room you want.
3. The time of year you will be visiting, and
4. The specific days of the week you will be staying.

Without ALL of those items, there is no way to give you an accurate answer.

For example, Sun to Fri in OKW Studio in September will run 60 points.

However, a 12/24 to 12/29 stay in a 1B at BCV is 310 points.

As you can see, your answer will vary greatly depending upon the time of year you want to visit, room type, and the other info listed above.

You're welcome to try the point calculator as Deb & Bill suggested if you want to just plug in your own dates.

I've never booked a cruise myself, but I know you would need to provide additional info to get an answer there as well. We would need to know the duration of cruise you want, class of room, number and ages of travellers, etc.

It also costs more money to go on a cruise with points than it does to buy a cruise for cash. People have rented their points out in order to pay for a cruise and still have money for the shore excursions beside. There even may be an incentive for buying points while on the cruise. There seem to be some references to that on the cruise board.
