Hello! I am wondering if you folks might know of a fellow DISr who has a black lab service dog? I am sure her siggie used to have a pic of her and her dog standing in front of a sign (maybe in Epcot)? Reason I am asking - and I am not even sure if I am recalling correctly - a poster on the Cruise boards is trying to find the thread about a cruiser with a black lab service dog cruising DCL and some of her experiences....and I am wondering if it is the same DISr. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES.

DCLFun (Kathy) will be along within the next few days. Skye is a black Lab and Kathy works for DCL and has cruised many times (as part of her job).

You are probably thinking of Lynda and Cash who posted quite a bit on the DCL boards about cruising with her SD. Skye and I have also cruised often,...in fact we will be on the ship this Sunday for four nights. :-)---Kathy ( and Skye )

Wow - thanks guys! I am going to zip over to the cruise boards and suggest the poster visit this thread for the great info. You guys rock :thumbsup2

OMG that is the CUTEST picture of your black lab -- I LOVE THE EARS!

Oh my gosh, that second pic is even better, she is gorgeous! - although her people aren't bad to look at either, you're a very photogenic family. How do ya get her to wear those ears? they don't seem to bother her at all. If you get a chance, please tell her I said to keep up the good work!

This is, by far, the best picture I've seen in ages! I love the way she seems to be smiling, as if to say "Hey, look at me! I'm shaking paws with Pluto!" I'm partial to labs, since I have a yellow. Mine is sweet as can be, but so not bright sometimes. :rotfl: Loveable, adorable, but sometimes goofy and very exciteable. I can't imagine she'd ever be anyone's helper. I guess the right training makes all the difference. Your husband is, I'm sure, very lucky to have your dog, and she I'm sure if very lucky to have him.

Kathy's sig shows Skye with a princess. Is this the one you're referring to?....Well, darn, The original sig had a pic of Cash and I in front of the Land attraction but it was too big and I had to resort to links, now Cash can be seen at the LAND in the second link....

Did I hear my name?:rotfl2:

Mystery solved...I found another Diser's Tigger jacket at a wine fest a couple of years ago and, can you imagine it, the owner was looking for me so I could reunite Tigger with his jacket mom....:thumbsup2

So nice to see that you are found. I remember when the pictures of Mark's dog was posted long ago so that is why I put the link. Cutest dog and so photogenic. Almost makes me want a dog now.:confused3

I got some great photos of Skye on this past cruise and will once again try to figure out how to post them. At any rate, being on the ship with a SD isn't a challenge except for having to run to the one break station, but of course this is what those of us with SD's have to deal with on land too- finding an appropriate break area and the right timing to keep our dog's comfy and "regular" ..ahem...---Kathy

I love that picture too!:cutie:
That dog is definitely a ham.

We have a British Lab that we are planning to train as DD's service dog. Besides training, we've been told it's important for the dog has to have the right temperment and personality. The breeder chose a dog for us that he thinks has those things so he will be able to be trained to be a good service dog. Even with the breeder's help, we won't be sure for a while.

I looked at the first picture and I'm curious what Cash is pulling?

I looked at the first picture and I'm curious what Cash is pulling?

I wanted Cash to be able to pull a cart so I made him one out of a folding "ol' lady grocery cart" and a door-mounted shoe rack, hooked it to each side of his harness and trained him to pull it. He was a natural puller from the first and while I was training him to pull the cart I broke him of pulling at his harness when I walked next to him. I liked the "saddleback" type of harness because you can hitch a cart to it or hang saddlebags from it. Mostly he hauled my cooking gear around the campus when I was taking Culinary Arts classes. In previous years I used it to haul scuba gear...We're talking MAJOR recycling...:cool1: but the design leaves a little to be desired...It required HUGE turns. I later redesigned it so that it had one center rail that attached between the cart handle and the harness handle and pivoted, instead of having two side rails, allowing him to turn easier.

Thanks for the information.
