Disneyworld POTC VS. Disneyland POTC

I have heard the Pirates ride in CA is much nicer, but I have never been to Disneyland so I was just curious as to how they are different?

I was also wondering if anyone knows if POTC in Disney World will be closing for refurbishment in Jan.?

There is no restaurant looking into POTC at WDW. Also, at WDW there are no "fireflies," no banjo playing, no shacks, only 1 drop, not as steep, and it is shorter. It is a better ride at DL in my opinion, but I love it anyway.

Woah! DH just did POTC at DL yesterday, and we were discussing the differences on the phone. He commented on how he much preferred the theming in the line area at WDW, he felt it did a much better job preparing you, getting you in the mood. We both preferred the scene where the ship and the town fight better at DL, much "stronger" there (don't know how to explain it). We both felt the DL ride was a little longer. However, DH still prefers WDW-"loyalty", he admitted.

I enjoyed the DL POTC theming transition -- the boat ride is like a trip back in time through the Bayou, into the Caribbean. As well, the concept of the cursed treasure is communicated in a much clearer way at DL, IMHO.

DL has the blue bayou restaurant where you take off. It's really cool. It's in New Orleans Square rather than adventureland so that may explain the take off theme.

I haven't been on WDW's version.

You might want to check out this site: http://visionsfantastic.com/main.php?page=pirates

They have a couple of home videos from the DLR vesion of the ride. You may have to register on their site to be able to download the video, but they are well worth it.

Me personally I really like the one in DLR a little more than the one in WDW. But I can ride both of them over...over...and over again.

DL's ride ends going up the waterfall, which WDW doesn't.

As said, the story really shows at DL, while at WDW they seem to have just taken the best scenes.

DLP also has a restuarant if I'm not mistaken, and I think you can see the outside from behind a waterfall there. It's been ten years since I was at DLP though so I may not remember so clearly. ;)

According to the guide we had on a tour of DL, the story behind POTC at DL is actually a dream. When starting the ride at DL, you are going through the Bayou. There is a guy sleeping on a rocking chair, it's his dream.

Both are great, that said I have to give DL version a slight edge. :flower: :goodvibes :wizard:
