We have always traveled to Dis in the fall, but now that my son will be starting kindergarden this next year, we are thinking about going earlier in the year. I wanted to go for my daughter's birthday on Feb. 19th but the points are soooo high. Is there a reason? So no we are considering the end of Jan and beginning of Feb. How is the weather and crowds? I checked the website to see if anything is going on during that time like the pirate party but no details are given yet. Any info is great. TIA!

I believe that would be (or almost be) President's day or week, a very busy time at Disney. Why not try a week or so earlier.

Weather is getting nicer, some people may actually be starting spring break and you have President's Day on Feb 18. Magic Season starts on 2/15 and goes to the middle of March when Premier season runs for two weeks and then goes back to Magic Season. Easter is early in 2008.

We have gone the last several years in late Jan. and early Feb. We love that time! The crowds are low. It is a nice winter break for us. The weather is sometimes wonderfully sunny and warm (high 70's low 80's) other times it has been more cool (60's). However when you are coming from 10 degrees and snow or ice on the ground 60 feels just wonderful!!! Every trip we have gone swimming at least once and somtimes everyday. Just depends on the weather of course. :)

We also love January. It is perfect for the post holiday blues. We got to swim 2 days out of 5 last year. If the weather is cooler, you don't get exhausted at the parks. Lines are shorter. Animals at Animal Kingdom are more lively. Really a nice time to go.

Went last Jan 21-28th....

Crowds were low....but I thought the week after thanksgiving was
the lowest so far...

We swam one day it was mid 70's....I'm from NY though...
It got chilly and rainy for 2 days....definately needed a warm
jacket...It was maybe 60 but damp.

I noticed DVC points are always highest when the kids are
out of school:scared:
I hope my DD5 is real smart....cause she will be missing some school:rolleyes1

I have been going down there in January the last few years. The weather the last 2 years was really unusual with temps in the 80's. It usually is much cooler especially at night. Parks are open less hours but are not crowded. President's week in Feb is not the time to go. It is one of the most crowded times of year with spill over from the Daytona 500 filling the place up. :goodvibes

We went this past February for President's week. Never again :sad2: It was very crowded, and very cold at night. I've read that January is one of the best months to go after new years. Guess we'll be checking our kids out of school as well.

We've gone one other time in January (around the 10th or so) and it was great. Weather was warmer than Pittsburgh but wasn't swimming weather for us but the lines were awesome -- 10 minute wait or less on most attractions. We're heading back on Jan 16th for a week.

End of January/early Feb are ideal not-too-crowded times as long as you can accept the concept of pot luck with weather. It can be warm, 70s and sometimes even into 80s, or it can be cool with highs only in the 50s, and it can be sunny or it can rain a lot. Usually, you need to pack clothing for all possibilities. Around Feb 19 means around Presidents' Day and the week that falls in which is usually a very crowded time.

We've been down there several times in Jan/Feb and it was definitely a mixed bag in terms of temps. I will say though, it's nice not having to deal with the huge crowds...you kinda get spoiled.

We'll down there Jan 11 for a week and our kids (7 and 9) will no doubt swim regardless. I just may swim as well....last year, we got a deal on those short wetsuits at Costco ($24.99) and they've been worth every penny! The kids use them on cooler days in the pool and they really make a big difference!

I would rather the weather be cold then hot like in Sept. a couple of years back that we went. We were first supposed to go the week after Thanksgiving, but switched it to Disneyland because we wanted my daughter to be just a little bit older. My husband thinks I'm crazy for booking this, but I went ahead and put a hold on a 1 bedroom at the BCV for Jan 29th through the 7th of Feb. I can't believe that we were able to snag it. The last time I called a couple of days ago there was nothing consecutively. Do you think I'm making the right choice is planning a trip all the way across the US in a couple of months. I need reassurance!!:rotfl:

I have planned our trip for Feb. 2-9, 2008. I am hoping the crowds are really low. I am also hoping that they have the parks decorated with Valentine  stuff. I can't wait!!

We are going down the week after Presidents day week and hope the crowds are back to normal for this time of year. Never have gone at this time before..smjj

LOL - reassurance coming up :grouphug: The last time I visited in September so did hurricane Frances! I went last Jan/Feb and will also be there next Jan/Feb and I'm not sure about your distance across the US, but my journey's 4000 miles across the Atlantic ocean so I definitely don't think you're crazy :goodvibes

I've been to WDW a few times in January for a little break from Winter and it's been awesome!

Yesterday I booked a trip for the weekend after MLK Day. I won't even have to use up a precious vacation day to get a weekend in beautiful weather...

Thanks for the good feelings. We live in California so it is about a 6 and half hour trip with one layover. Not too bad if my four year old and one year old are cooperating. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm so glad to see this thread! We just bumped out trip from early Dec to Feb 2-6. We've never been that time of year so I have been wondering about it too. Sounds like the weather is a lot like Dec, so that should be fine. However, we will really miss the Christmas decorations. Is anything special going on at that time. Doesn't really matter, I'll just be glad to be there. :cloud9: Being from the deep south, I can't imagine going swimming at all that time of year! We aren't used to the cold and can't take it. Thanks for the info!

I'm excited about Jan/Feb, We are going Jan 27- Feb2
two year ago we went in Aug and this year in september.
I can't wait to go when its not sooo hot.. But still warmer than it will be here in Ontario!!
