Newbie here. Would you recommend a trip to Disneyworld the last week of August? Another website states it's one of the least crowded times of the year, but hot and humid nonetheless. Is that true? I know it's crowded all of summer, but it's supposed to thin out the last week of August. Thanks!

We have made several trips during this time period. We are even getting married next year during this week at Disney.

It is very hot and humid however the crowd level is low. We always take advantage of the moring EMH and head back to hotel around 1:00 pm. We get alot of stuff done in the morning and relax and swim the rest of the day.

The one bad thing about this week is that they do shorten the park hours due to low crowd levels. I am not sure of this year but the previous years we have gone this has happened.

Good Luck deciding!!!

Ditto what mic&min said. It is hot and humid, but the crowds are very light. If you can tolerate heat, I'd definately reccomend this time of year.

Enjoy!

Thanks. Mic&min, which dates in August are you referring to? I am referring to the week we are in now, the week starting today, Sunday. September starts in the middle of next week, so I am not referring to that week.

We are leaving Wed. and arriving Thurs. and can't wait. We have done August three times before and it's definately doable. Yes, its warm but you know that going into it. The lines are not that bad and parks are still open till 9 or 10. We are going from Thurs. of this week till Thurs of next week because we don't start school here till Sept. 7 :teeth: . You will have a wonderful time!! :cheer2:

We were there last year for the last week of August and were not bothered by the heat at all.
We took our time, stopped in air conditioned restaurants and attractions, carried mister fans (which I highly recommend). It was great to not have to deal with big crowds. We didn't even take breaks during the day. When we arrived back at our resort, we swam with the kids until the pool closed. It was beautiful!
We liked this time of the year so much that we are going again in Aug 2006.
Have fun!

This week and next week should be good weeks. A lot of schools have started already so there are less travelers. Next year we will be heading down on Aug. 24 through Labor Day....

Us, too! The only problem we encountered was Hurricane Frances and we got delayed for 36 hours in departing (arriving home 8 hours before school was due to start for the first day!). It was hot and humid but we just used our fans and kept really hydrated.

It is a great time to travel!

Actually, DH was quite happy during Hurricane Frances as we were stuck in our room for about 26 hrs. After walking through the parks for 6 days, Disney cartoons, junk food and beverages while lying in bed ... now that's a dream vacation for him.
We drove home straight through on the Monday, arrived at home at about 9:30 am on Tuesday and got the kids to school for their first day back (they were just a little late!)

We went last year Aug 28-Sep 3. WE went this year in July. Crowds were definitely less in Aug, however, I wouldn't say they were "low". As for the weather, "hot" is just too mild a word to describe the oppresive heat and humidity - even at 7:00am! We were impacted by the hurricane last year - had to cut our trip a day short and rent a car to drive home because our flight was cancelled. But, despite all this, I would do it again! Any time in WDW is better than no time at all! And I would definitely pick last week in August over any other time in the summer. Good luck!

HOT is all I have to say.

Couldn't agree more and it was HUMID. The humidity was awful. If you go, be sure to drink lots of water (not soda) to stay hydrated.

In 2002 and 2003, I went the week after Labor Day when most (all) kids are in school. It was VERY humid, and it rained a little, but the lines are MUCH shorter.
This Year I'm going Sept 9th to 15th.

I just got back from WDW was there from 8/20-29 and hot is an understatement. As for the crowds, they were not huge but still there. The longest we waited was for Soarin' which was an hour and 20 minutes on EMH night (no fastpass) and for Peter Pan because they ran out of Fastpass by 1100am. So I would keep that in mind. I didn't find it humid just very hot. I feel it is more humid now that I am back home in New Jersey.

If you can handle that type of heat that I say go for it!
