We are planning to go to WDW on December 1-12th. I heard there is a special holiday party at the Magic Kingdom. Does anyone know anything about it? If so, please let me know.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

This runs through out the holiday season at the MK. It requires a special ticket and only those w/ tickets can stay. I think they serve hot chocolate, there is snow and the park is open late. I know a lot of people really enjoy it. We were down in 2004 but didn't buy a ticket for it. Perhaps one year...

MVMCP is just wonderful! We went for the first time this past December! Also went to see the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian. Spectacular!

OK, now after reading all of these post, I am wondering if we have picked the best time to go. We are going Dec. 2-8. We are planing on staying at POP, but were going to try and change to the AS Family Suites. I picked the first week in December because I heard it was one the THE BEST times to go. I am begining to wonder.... I have become OBSESSED planning the best vacation because it will by my Ds (will be 3) first trip. My DH and my mom are also going. What are these Pop Werner kids and how do I know when they will be there???
We can really go anytime, but I do not want to go when it is hot. We are also hoping to have another baby on the way (we will have to do in vitro so a lot a planning goes into making another baby). We are hoping to conceive in June so that I would be in my second trimester during our trip.
I need some expert advice. I have been 10 times to WDW but never with a child (except when I was one that was a LONG time ago!) and never pregnant.
When do you think we should go???!!! (My travel agent is going to kill me if I keep making chages) :badpc:

Hi, folks. This is my first post here. I didn't want to start a new thread when this subject already existed.

I'm taking my family to DW over Christmas vacation. We arrive the 23rd and go home the 30th.

It's my first time, and my kids' first time (2 daughters, age 4 and 9 at the time of travel). My wife was there once, but it was when she was young.

We're staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I see lots of things posted about the weeks before Christmas, but is there a survival guide for the week OF Christmas?

My plan is:
-23rd: MGM Studios
-24th: AK
-25th: Epcot
-26th & 27th: MK
-The rest of the week, whatever we want.

Thanks in advance for any advice or direction you can give.

I'll admit it's been a very long time since I was there at Christmastime, but we went around the first or second week and it was a perfect time to do. The crowds at the parks during the day weren't too bad, and that is the best time to do the rides. evenings the parks were pretty busy, but if you get your riding out of the way during the day you can just walk around, enjoy the sights, and all the special things going on. IMHO the Christmas party is a must do with kids, but passable for adults . . . just be prepared to drun into the kids' heads that you are there that night for the PARTY, not for the rides so they don't get disappointed because the rides will be busy. MGM and epcot are GORGEOUS during the holidays.

First of all, welcome Spiff!!! Castle Now, don't be so worried about it. Yes, the first week of December is a great time to go! It will be cool, crowds should be lower, and the decorations are magical! We were there last Christmas (the week before) and it is was wonderful, even though it was a more crowded time. The MVMCP is a lot of fun, but we never did it or MNSSHP when our kids were younger because it starts so late and lasts so late. It is fun now that the kids are older because a lot of folks with young kids leave at about 10 or 10:30 and then it is sooooo nice! I don't know what to say about Pop Warner. Some folks say it is aweful, and others say it is no biggie. There really is NO perfect time to go. Disney is always planning some event to bring folks in during the slower times. No time in early December could be as bad as summer, or the major holidays, or anything like that. I say keep you dates and QUIT WORRYING!!!

You're right! I think I need a support group for people who are too obessed planning their DV ;)

We went last June (it was hot...) with 6yr DD, 19mo DS & I was in my 2nd trimester and had a great trip. So go, have a great time - anytime at Disney is a terrific vacation. We are planning a late 2006 trip this time around.

When we go close to Christmas, we spend a whole day at MK then do the party the same night or the following night. That way we only catch our favorite rides at the party. The party is alot of fun. The crowds are not bad. You just have to plan the parades and fireworks just right. Also get a holiday picture. We have three already and it is wonderful to see our DD grow and change. :cool1: Take your time, have fun, and enjoy. Also don't forget your good night kiss from the castle

as you can see from my signature I LOVE going sometime in the first 2 weeks of December. Crowds aren't to bad it is becoming more popular. Highly recommend it!!! The MVMCP I am addicted and have to go every year also!! Sets my whole mood for the month of December getting ready for Christmas. I will be there Dec 8-12.

Christmas Decorations at every park and every resort, take notice to the themes. Nothing like walking into the MK and looking down Main Street seeing all the Christmas lights. Breath taking!!!

Have a magical trip.

Yeah!!! Someone else admits that they are obsessed! :teeth:
But, I must admit, that it is fun getting to know all of the ins and outs, do's and don't's before we fly across the country!

We're headed to WDW from Dec. 6 - Dec 13th! :woohoo: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Welcome to your support group :wave2:

Everyone on the DIS is obsessed, but thats not a bad thing. :disrocks:

I think I might need to join the group. I am going Dec 23- Jan 3 and have already been stressing over where to eat for my trip! I am a little scared since it is such a busy season!

Our next trip will be my 11th trip to disney and I have still learned TONS from this website! We are taking our DS who will be 3 and I know that this will still be a new experience for my DH and me. My first trip was when I was 3, but that was when it was only the MK. The park has changed so much.

Also, I have never been at Christmas, so I have learned a lot about that.

I have a friend who her and her DH are also Disney Obsessed. (In fact, they are on a Disney cruise as we speak!) If we spend a lot of time on the DISboard, we will say we have been to our "Disney Dark Place!" :cheer2:

I think I also need to join this support group... We are going 12/23-12/29, could we have picked a busier time? I am soooo excited and am already doing my planning. DH says it is like I'm planning for a wedding not a WDW vacation. I can't help it though.
