DAY 12
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
This was our final non-park day of the trip. DW decided she wanted some down time, so she stayed at the house and DD and I went out. The plan was to go ride go-karts and then visit the Gaylord Palms. We headed over to FunSpot in Kissimmee but when we got there, they barely looked open and there were guys working on the tracks, so we left. Off to Gaylord Palms. We had been there once before, but DD really only vaguely remembered it as it was several years ago. We spent quite a while wandering, exploring and photographing. Then we had lunch at the little coffee bar/café in the lobby. That was nice. I had a tasty buffalo chicken wrap.

Finally, we headed out and back to Fun-Spot. They were open at that point, if you want to call it that. It seemed clear that it is really a nighttime kind of destination. The place looked dead at mid-day. We decided to chalk it and maybe get back there on one of our last nights in town.

We went back to the house and relaxed for a while. We needed to do an early dinner because we were going to see La Nouba. We stopped for Chinese food (Taste of China in Formosa Gardens) on our way to Westside. I picked up our tickets at the box office and we spent the time before the show finding all the hidden Mickey’s over there. That was fun, though some were pretty blatant to be called hidden. Got to speak to a couple of CMs in the process which is always nice.

La Nouba was wonderful. We were in section 203 which was perfect. It was high enough that you could take in all the action and not be straining your neck the whole time.

We had planned to walk around the shops and maybe get a snack after the show but we came out to heavy rain that didn’t look like it would be stopping anytime soon, so we went back to the house and called it a night.
