Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

And the crowds are still low or manageable in the lounge today?

Dave
Pretty empty this morning, but last night at dinner it was a struggle to find a seat with my family of 4.

Looks like some roof work is starting, the cart wasn’t here yesterday, the flags have been here though.

The work on the gazebo is continuing from yesterday when they began the tear off.

Thanks for the real-time update. That's what I was told to expect on the flat roofs. All new membranes and tar work. And underlayment, and new shingles on the other roofs.

It still looks like they are trying to get all the big items happening while SAB is out of service. Roof work / noise would really impact SAB during the day if open.

I wonder if the tar smell will get into the rooms... even with the door closed. Could be nasty...

That flat rubber/EPDM part of the roof (old pebble beach) isn't all that old. The below was 2018 when that part was being replaced - it was pretty stinky when on the balcony. The roof work in the PP photos looks more like normal shingle installation than something with a lot of tar/sealant, although hard to tell full scope from the photo. Hopefully it’s not like 2018 - I didn’t ask to be moved as I usually just roll with things, but it was less than ideal.

Yes right now it looks like it is limited to Facade work and replacing the decorative shingles on the false roof line, and plywood pads for the scaffolding on the side of the building on right side of the picture. That's why I said we will need to wait for reports to see if they go that way on the flat roofs.

Dave

There's a solid chance I'm underestimating how often they need to work on the facade, but I'm surprised they're doing work on it again. They just did all of that facade work in 2021, we still talk about coming back to the room to relax and hang out on the balcony only to find workers and a bunch of equipment out on it. Hopefully this work isn't as extensive as that year, we have a few trips coming up at the YC and do not want to deal with that again! (although we did get a free trip out of it, so I guess I can't complain too much!)

I have a feeling they’re doing things they didn’t get to then. Especially down on the 1st floor walkways & around the restaurants. And the roofs weren’t done then either. But you’re right, they did extensive work on the balconies & siding & there’s no way those should need work again this soon.

Arriving in 10 days. We are currently booked in a resort view room at YC. BC has both resort view & water view available for the same dates. I knew SAB would be a mess but didn’t realize there would be so much other construction. We definitely want to stick with YC or BC because it’s a short trip & we are primarily visiting Epcot. Should I stick with YC or switch to resort view or water view at BC? Should I put in a room request? WWYD?

I would switch to BC ASAP. Do you want a view or maybe just a balcony at BC due to it have a high ratio of Juliet Balconies to Full balconies?

For a short trip, I am not sure that I would care if there was Resort view or Water view (also includes SAB view).

The water view rooms with full balconies at BC all look perfect. The question is, how likely am I to get my request fulfilled if I request a full balcony? You’d think pretty decent with so much availability only 10 days out, right?

Yes this is almost the time when they would be assigned to guests, and you can always check at the Front desk when you arrive. Would this be your only request vs 1 or 3 requests. Rooms are not assigned based on when you booked but based on requests when the rooms are assigned 5-7 days before arrival date.

If I book water view, full balcony would be my only request. None of those rooms overlook SAB, according to touring plans.

If I book resort view, I’d request full balcony, not overlooking SAB.

I am here at the YC and most of the construction is facing the SAB area, over the Yachtman steakhouse roof and near my room 5185 to the rear enter the back of the YC lobby. I do not see any other construction. Your chances of getting a full balcony at the YC is way better than at BC even with a request. Just my opinion. And the construction has not bothered me and the contractors are outside my balcony 9-4:30 pm. I’m usually back in my room around 3 pm.

My concern is that we still have 3 more months for building work to happen. Since we don't have a timeline it is a guess from all of us. The reports of the building / roof work just organically appeared.

Dave

True but I really think the construction concerns are overboard. You told me when I was booking if you like the area stay where you like. My choice was GF or YC. The construction facing is 20 feet from my balcony however I like the balcony, it’s huge corner room and there is no work from 4:30 pm to 9 am. By then I’m out the door until 3 pm.

Stormalong Bay Pool Construction Progresses, Scaffolding Appears at Disney’s Yacht Club

Pool construction continues for Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, and scaffolding has been erected on the facade at the former as the hotels undergo refurbishments.

Large white sandbags are lined up on a sandy path near a body of water, suggesting pool construction in progress. Palm trees, a wire fence, and Disney's Yacht Club with flags fluttering in the background complete the picturesque scene.

Since our last construction update, giant white bags of sand have appeared on the beach between Crescent Lake and the walkway circling the Yacht & Beach Club resort area.

Although these bags of fresh sand will likely be applied to the floor of the famed sand-bottomed pool and signal the conclusion of construction and the reopening of the pool and deck, it is also possible that the contents of the bags may be used to refresh sand on the beach itself.

At the construction site of a drained pool area, scaffolding supports activities among rocks and equipment. Workers are busy while nearby white structures and palm trees rise under a partly cloudy sky, reminiscent of Disney's Yacht Club ambiance.

Several bags have been moved inside an area of the pool and placed on an arrangement of metal piping.

Workers in bright safety clothing and helmets repair and maintain the empty, rocky outdoor pool area, with scaffolding, equipment, and tools scattered around.
Similar piping remains visible throughout the pool.

Construction site with scattered materials like white blocks and wooden planks near a path in a garden setting, hinting at pool construction. In the background, buildings and palm trees stand under a cloudy sky, reminiscent of Disney's Yacht Club ambiance.

The construction crew continues to work on the cement pathways winding through the pool area. Since our last update, this middle section of the pathway shaded by trees has been filled with cement.

Outdoor construction site with partially completed concrete work, near a series of large buildings with white railings at Disney's Yacht Club. It is a sunny day, and there are trees overhead, as scaffolding rises to shape the future structure.
Construction on part of the pool deck does not appear to have progressed, as grids of rebar remain exposed.

The waterfront area, featuring a blue-roofed building reminiscent of Disney's Yacht Club, is adorned with palm trees and dotted with scaffolding and construction barriers near the shoreline.

We previously reported that the orange box Aquatech device was spotted close to one of the slides into the pool. As of this week, it has been relocated to the beach and hidden behind a row of rolling planters. Hurricane Hanna’s, visible in the photo above, remains closed during construction.

Scaffolding Goes Up on Resort Facade

Construction workers in safety gear stand near scaffolding at Disney's Yacht Club, where a building with striped awnings is under renovation. The area, featuring pool construction, is partially enclosed by white barriers, while plants and flowers bloom in the foreground.
Turning to the resort building itself at Yacht Club, scaffolding has now been constructed on one of the outer turrets, where the roofing has been removed and the waterproofing material is visible. A black chute connecting the upper levels of the scaffolding to the ground is also visible.

A large building undergoing maintenance, with scaffolding in place, resembles Disney's Yacht Club. The structure boasts a gray facade with white balconies and a steep roof. A sign reads Please Pardon Our Appearance as pool construction progresses.
The scaffolding continues around either corner, obstructing some windows overlooking the courtyard on the left and guest rooms overlooking Crescent Lake on the right.

A row of white-framed French doors with blue-taped outlines stands behind a white railing. Scaffolding hints at ongoing renovations on the building's beige siding, seamlessly blending into the nautical charm of Disney's Yacht Club.

Windows have been covered with plastic and painter’s tape, so we can expect a fresh coat of paint on the window frames.

A building under renovation, its scaffolding visible alongside a white construction barrier. Amid planters brimming with greenery and two workers in safety gear on the wooden boardwalk, the scene evokes the charm of Disney's Yacht Club.
White fencing has been replaced by construction walls erected around the area, which will serve to camouflage building materials, equipment, and general construction-related mess. Rolling planters have been arranged in front of the walls.

It should be noted that the Ale & Compass Restaurant is located inside, directly underneath this construction. We found that it is very noisy in the restaurant right now, but there is no construction warning on the website for the eatery, which may indicate that this stage of the construction will progress quickly.

Stormalong Bay will remain closed through June 2025, though no exact reopening date has been announced. In the meantime, guests at the resort are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools.
