Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

:thumbsup2page 858-859

Hi - posted this on another thread, but I think this is better placed here as this is most certainly where the wealth of knowledge is for BC/YC....
and apologies if this has been asked before, but can anyone confirm the reopening of Fittings and Fairings? I thought it was a May timeframe, but now it seems like July?

The info reported last month indicated a grand re-opening in May (see Page 1, Post 1) for the press release that was on the DIS. I haven't heard about a change to a later reopening, or maybe they will still be working on parts of it.

:confused3

Will be at BC next week -- anyone need pictures or info on anything while I'm there?

Thanks for the offer! Have a fantastic trip!!!

:cool2:

This page has been crazy helpful. Trip planned for September, to celebrate my 45th, and decided on the YC. First time at an Epcot resort area hotel. Thanks everyone for all the great info!!!

:welcome: to the thread and posting on the DIS

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the welcome. The pics are great!

Really wondering how disruptive the refurb will be in July. I guess there is no way of knowing. We stayed at the yacht club years ago and loved it.

The refurb should not affect you at all in your room, since the 5th floor was completed earlier this year and rooms on lower floors will be worked on in July. Not sure about what the situation will be in the lobby- potential work on Captain's Grille Restaurant, maybe Ale & Compass, maybe Fittings & Fairings. But I bet there won't be a significant impact in your experience.

::yes::

Just booked a short 3 night/4 day trip for end of July. Staying club level. We are so excited! Haven't stayed at the YC since the kids were 4/2/2, and now they are 15/13/13.

I just went on a quick sisters trip a few weeks ago. We stayed at BWI club. Have never stayed club other than that. Has anyone stayed at both that can compare? Any tips/suggestions for room preference? We are in a standard room. Are most rooms near the lounge?

This is an out of the blue trip so I'm still a bit surprised it is happening at all.

There may be some comparison reviews on Page 1, Post 16. Look towards the middle/end of that post for links to comparisons to other resorts. I think there is at least one YC/BC/BWI comparison.

:thumbsup2

Thanks, natebenma! We'll be staying at the BC this time around, 11/3 - 11/11/17. We've stayed at the YC before, but never the BC, so we're very excited to be there, especially since our stay is during F&W!

Got it! We were at the YC during Food & Wine last year and it was awesome!

Hi All!
I posted this video from youtube a bit ago but I just noticed that the new YC rooms might have a barn door by the bathroom entrance? Is it me or does that look right?..It starts at 2:56 of the video. You first see the entrance open but then it appears closed? Maybe someone who's been can confirm?
I think that would be so cool!

What do y'all think?

I think you are right! I like it!

That is a pocket door in the YC bathroom. We have two of them at our house. They slide into the wall rather than hang on the outside of a wall like a barn door.

I think they are a great idea. I'm surprised that they didn't think about using them a long time ago. :)

Yes it has the picket door to the toilet and shower - great because closing it at bc is tight but I mean outside the area where the sinks are .. something like I think Coronado has ....

Couldn't figure out where to have lunch our first day for our upcoming trip. Looked about an hour ago and there was Beaches and Cream. I grabbed it. :yay:

That's great! Are you going soon? I can't get a reservation for it, though I keep checking. Hopefully I can the week of our trip, I read that's a good time to try again for those people that do last minute cancellations. I cancelled a 1900 Park Fare and it was snatched right up. I'm guessing Beaches is one like BOG where you're just lucky if you see an opening if you didn't reserve way ahead of time.

If you belong to touring plans there is a reservation finder. You can put it in there and it will notify you if something opens up. I have gotten text messages and gotten the reservation less than 5 minutes later.

Checking in tomorrow. I'm kinda sorta insanely excited !! First beach club stay, although we have visited many times. What's your best tip for getting the most out of the resort?

It's silly, but my favorite tip is about the secret entrance/exit near room 1501. It can really save you if it is really hot or rainy on your way back from EPCOT because you get under cover quicker than going into the lobby. You can read about that and some of our other favorite tips in Posts 13 and 14 on Page 1. I'm looking at "you" sneaky refill mug full o' Grey Goose Slushie... Bring a Container or Chug the Remainder.

:drinking1

Have a fantastic trip!

:woohoo:

Spend at least 1 afternoon relaxing at StormAlong Bay! And make sure to look around at all the beautiful landscaping all over the resort.

Yes, I saw a photo on Tripadvisor that shows the sliding door.

Is this what you are referring to (directly to the right of the vanity area opening)? The dark wood panel has a flush pull on the leading edge (left side of door) to slide the door open and closed, which should provide the privacy in the vanity area, that many guests were looking for.

I have a mission for someone who is staying there (doesn't have to be right now) - if there is a Do Not Disturb sign in your room, could you post a picture of it? If you also could give approximate dimensions, that would be great.
