Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I have a question.

Does anyone know how the balcony lights work?

I always bring a little reading light for the early morning hours and I always forget to ask someone at the resort.

There's no switch to turn on the overhead balcony light, at least that I have been able to find.

I don't think they all stay on or go off overnight- look at this photo.

Any rhyme or reason?

I do see that the rooms that are lit up have a solid overhang rather than an awning.

I would love to have a room that had the balcony light, but then again, would it be so bright that it could disrupt sleep?

:confused3

When we were at BCV we were on the 4th floor and the light on our balcony was on all night. We were dead center over the pool and had no way to turn it off. I think some are for "resort ambiance" and you deal with it. We pack clips to ensure our curtains stay closed at night.

39 Days! I'm trying to order a few things from Garden Grocer. I've seen lots on this thread about the coffee makers in the villas, but what kind of coffee maker is in the regular rooms? TIA

The resort rooms have a single cup Cuisinart coffee maker that uses flat pods. They look like round tea bags. Dee has a picture of them on page 1 of this threads.

I will be at the Beach Club in 3 weeks and was wondering if the Marketplace still opens at 6am for coffee?

No. The 6:00 AM coffee only access was discontinued a few years ago. The Marketplace opens at 7:00 AM. Coffee is available for purchase beginning at 6:00 AM at the Ale & Compass Lounge located in the Yacht Club lobby.

do all the studios have full balconies? and what are the best ones to request? will be staying may 10-15

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

Yes, I believe they all have full balconies. Some of the balconies may be larger than others, I think. I will defer to others who know more about the villas to reply about what to request.

:goodvibes

I don't think the Marketplace opens at 6. It may be as late as 7. But you can get a cup of coffee and continental breakfast starting at 6 am at the Ale & Compass in the Yacht Club lobby.

What kind of coffeemakers are in the resort rooms?

As of October 2011, the drip coffee makers in the BC and YC resort rooms were replaced.

The regular resort rooms and club level rooms (including Deluxe Rooms) now have the Cuisinart Double Pod Machines:

Thanks for the photos Rorey, Cinderumbrella and MickeyT!

Here is what I believe are in the rooms currently. Anyone who has been there more recently, please correct this info if it is wrong:

All regular (non-club level) rooms: Cuisinart Pods

All standard club level rooms, all views (standard meaning non-suite), including Deluxe Club Level Rooms: Cuisinart Pods*

Suites (1 BR, 2 BR, VP, Presidential Suites): Keurig K-cup

Beach Club Villas- Mr. Coffee-type makers (10 cup for 1BR, 2BR and the refurbed villas)

* Coffee Pods from Walmart

Pods are also available for purchase from Staples/Staples.com or Amazon.

Guests are always welcome to ask housekeeping for as many pods as needed during your stay.

All BCV studios have a full balcony [or patio]. Balcony sizes do vary based on room and floor but the majority of the balconies accommodate 2 chairs and a table, with that being the smallest. If you want a larger balcony you can make that one of your requests if/when you do online check-in.

Does anyone have a recent vlog of the Beach Club? We've been trying to work out where the garden view rooms are when you walk from the lobby area. Any BC resort videos from the last month would be great:thanks:

We are hoping to be allocated a room well away from the lobby area. I don't mind even being closer to the quiet pool. I'm not a huge fan of the smell of cooked shellfish or large noisy areas in hotels and prefer some peace and quiet after being in the parks. We realise it's not always possible to get a room with a full balcony or a day bed but the full balcony would be appreciated. I'm crossing my fingers for a room close to Epcot with a view of Spaceship Earth or one of the buildings on WS.

Been looking into flight prices for next October and realised we need to wait another few weeks. Darn my keenness to be back in my happy place. It's still good to know we are going back again. Already dreaming of Joffrey's Coffee and Hot Chocolate and a few pastries enjoyed out on a balcony and Sunken Treasures down at the pool ;)

Does anyone who has stayed at BCV post-renos remember how big the safes are? Are they the same ones that are currently in the BC rooms?

DH wants to bring his iPad Pro but I'm worried it won't fit in the safe. I know a regular iPad will fit, but the Pro is about 3" bigger in height and 2" bigger in width.

Why not simply request a room near the quiet pool if you don't mind on which floor the room is located? That will put you well away from the lobby. Unfortunately, if you are at that end, you will most likely not have a view of Spaceship Earth from the BC--there is a large wooded area between BC and EPCOT which pretty well blocks that view from the quiet pool area--at least on floors 1-3 which is all there is at that end of the resort. It is a lovely space though. Our favorite room is 1523 but it is a "water" view because it overlooks the quiet pool although it may have been re-designated due to foliage growth. It is a queen bedded room with a fold down single and a double sleeper sofa.

We have had a room we thought we would hate because it was near the elevator and on the second floor overlooking the exterior courtyard. As it turns out, it was quiet, a full balcony and quite wonderful. It was close to the quiet pool, close to Stormalong Bay and close to the front for bus service. Have a lovely stay wherever you may be located.

I'm going off memory from our last visit less than a month ago and thinking it will fit. It's the new programmable safe and it seemed fairly large for what I used it for. Sorry I can't provide the dimensions but think you will be okay from what I can recall. Hope someone else can provide the actual dimensions.

If your staying at BCV and use an Uber or a cab, where do they pick you up? At the BC resort or at BCV? (Sorry, first timer)

Yesterday, DH says, "Let's just go to Disney right now." Of course, he was only dreaming a bit, but I beamed at the idea. Then he adds, "When I retire in 15 years, we will be sitting in the living room and we'll say "Let's go to Disney, and we can pick up and leave right that minute. We can do that all the time."

My soulmate. :lovestruc

BTW, loving all the disney luggage. I may need to go shopping!
