Tax day, not so fun. Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts? Very fun! This is a great anniversary date!

Our bags are packed and we leave in the morning. Yacht Club here we come!

Have a great day. As an accountant tax day is very important. It means I get my life back after working over 100 straight days. Plus I can finally make final plans for our Disney trip in May.

I read in a recent review that the BC club lounger workers weren't "eager" to get beers through the day. Anyone experience any negativity around making trips to lounge a few ( okay 5 or 6!) times a day and requesting beer or wine?

DH and I stayed CL last October and we did not have any issues when asking for to-go beers. We would probably request beer 3-5 times a day and I don't remember sensing any negativity. As a matter of fact, I remember a couple instances when we would be headed out to Epcot or down to the pool and would ask for 2 beers and the CM would say, "but there's two of you, sure you don't want four?"

Life isn't always a picnic to be sure, especially for the part time CM's whose hours got cut down to zero in many cases, or the full timers that had to go part time. I think it's helpful to alert people to the types of changes going on at WDW. WDW certainly isn't going to give them a heads up. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm only providing an accurate description of what is taking place so that people can be prepared. I thought I offered some great strategies for saving money to try and keep a Disney trip affordable. I'm sorry if it's not your cup of tea.

I worked two hours today. The only work I plan on doing this weekend. Quite a bit shorter than the 13 hour work days. Most of it was in preparation for submitting extensions on Monday. We hoped to have finished yesterday but it just didn't happen.

Yes you have till Tuesday due to Patriots Day.

After reading numerous posts and reviews, I still have a question regarding our 10 nights stay at the Beach Club and a gluten allergy (DH is celiac).

So, we are planning to stay 10 nights at BC and will not do any TS for breakfast this time. We will be hungry before park opening and do not want to prepare and eat breakfast in our room every day. Options seem very slim: Plastic eggs, dessert and maybe GF bagel at the Marketplace.

Anybody went through this?
Any solid options in the World showcase?
Maybe at the Swan and Dolphin?
Ideas beside using our own food?

I guess we were just lucky with our other resort choices in the past...

What does DH like to eat for breakfast? Maybe if you told us what food would make him happy, we could tell you where to get it. (I know you said it has to be gluten free, but that doesn't tell us what he would like.)

We were in disney springs last week and there is a bakery that I believe is GF and vegan. If not the whole bakery, they certainly had a lot of GF products. It is over by the Boat house and the hat shop. Perhaps you could go there when you first arrive and get several items. I did not look intently but I am sure you could call them to see what they have available for breakfast items.

Super excited. Some "virtual" friends are arranging a meet in Glasgow, Scotland in June. We can go. Woop Woop. It's nice to meet in real life with virtual friends. It proves you all really do exist.

I have not personally had to deal with a gluten allergy during family trip, but I have tried to compile information from others who are following a GF diet or have other allergy concerns.

Fruit is available at BC Marketplace (both whole and cut up), yogurt and oatmeal are also available. Not sure if these items are GF or not. The Ale & Compass may have some GF breakfast selections in the morning hours.

I don't think I have a more recent BC Marketplace Menu picture, this is from 2012, I believe. I haven't personally tried the eggs, so I can't comment on their quality.

They can also let you know about allergy friendly offers around the park - the more people who use it there, the more likely the other parks get their own kiosk."

"Gluten-free goodies in Beach Club Marketplace:

In the refrigerator section where they have the cupcakes, they had the four pack of brownie bites with frosting. I believe they try to call these "cupcakes" in other parts of WDW. In the past I have also seen them at Boardwalk Bakery, the allergy food kiosk at Animal Kingdom theme park, and the refrigerated grab and go section of The Mara counter service restaurant of Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House.

There also were several types of gluten free individuallly packaged cookies. I think I bought two different types of chocolate chip cookies. These were on the end of the counter where you would order food.

I don't know if they had other things as well. A friend had invited me to dinner in her timeshare and I didn't want to arrive empty-handed. I knew she was gluten free so I was looking for some dessert options."

A gluten-free version of the Kitchen Sink is offered at Beaches & Cream.

Milk substitutes at The Beach Club Marketplace and Club Level Lounges
BC Marketplace- Soy milk is available. Almond and Coconut milk have not been seen there (Aug 2015)
Lounges- hope to get reports about what is available from recent guests.

Natebenma, your answer, like your contribution to this thread is thorough, fun, illustrated and informative. Thank you so much for all of it. I am learning to love the BC before I set foot in it, thanks to all the contributors. I read all the input carefully and have discussed with DH.

For most morning, we will eat our own food. That seems to be the simplest option in the end. We will bring GF bread, GF cereals, GF (pure) instant oatmeal, milk, fruits and the equivalent for the others. We will leave the excess at Bell service.

Then, we will probably find a GF option at the Marketplace or the lounge if we feel like like a change of scenery.

If DH wants a Mickey waffle, we have two local options: Captain's Grill or order room service (!).

And then who says we can't start the day with a Mickey bar?

That seems to cover everything our hearts can desire in the morning. We are excited to have such good possibilities.

Edit: Forgot to mention that we have an evening TS booked at Beaches and Cream and that trying a GF Kitchen Sink is in the plans (if appetite is there...).

They will sell both scrambled eggs and bacon as separate side items and I think it was only $3 for each serving. They also serve oatmeal for breakfast. There are a lot of grocery items in the Marketplace to serve the villas units and you might find some items there. And there are toasters and a microwave available for use. Disposable bowls are also available if you want to buy milk and bring gluten free cereal from home.

We always ate at least one breakfast at Captain's Grille which will prepare gluten free food for you. I love the gluten free Mickey waffles.

Thank you we will follow your suggestions but will probably bring a small toaster as toastabags won't work in the horizontal type.

They told us that the only time you might have trouble being a walk in would be on Sunday morning. We have made a last minute reservation for Captain's Grille via the app in order to avoid being a walk in.

While it is not quick service, the buffet at Swan is a great breakfast choice and is very affordable. They have lots of great choices and I suspect your DH could find much to love over there. It has become a favorite, and on weekdays it is usually not crowded and not a character meal. They also have discounts for things like annual passes and DVC memberships, I believe they offer others as well.

You got some great info from everyone I just wanted to add that we did one trip when my youngest was on a new gf diet and while I was worried beforehand it was easy while at both hotel and parks. I emailed the special diets section on the website and they were great and basically confirmed what everyone had told me-lots if options and very helpful cm and chefs at every location. Much easier to feed him than I ever could have hoped for. If in doubt about any available options just ask as we found everyone very helpful and often had options that weren't listed

Bummer - we were going to be at BC together (I have the magical deal too, late August).

Your 50th isn't next year late Aug. too, is it? We would HAVE to meet up at BC (or any deluxe we get on the magical deal!) if so! (We go every late August.)

ETA I cannot believe I'm turning 50 next year! That's the 1st time I'm writing/realizing this!

I just figure I'll celebrate for a year, right? But, not keen on Disney in January really. It can be so cold! Still better than here in Maryland.

I love late August; I've done it with my kids several times. Alas, since DD is going to be headed into her senior year of highschool, if she's off to college next year this may be the last one with her for a bit. Sad face. She & I have a good time together. We did last August at Pop & got free dining, and upgraded to AP's. Then DH and DS joined us for spring break, but they're so not into Disney anymore that it's just more fun just her & me! I may do a solo trip next August after she moves on to college though!

I'm so indecisive, so who knows if I'll change my mind again! I just feel like if free dining comes out, we loved the QSDP and I'd save the tickets for next trip.
