Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I've got a question that I'm hoping people can help me with: What time should I mobilise my family to get them to the bus stop? They are very well trained in rope drop and don't complain at all about the early mornings, which is a bonus!
If we want to be at MK for approx 7.30 AM (8.00 ADR for BOG on a non EMH day) what time should we be waiting for a bus?
What about the boat to DHS to arrive at the park approx 8.15? I've had lots of suggestions to walk in the morning because of the queue for the boat, but I think there's enough walking already!

All suggestions gratefully received :)

We had to be at the MK by 8:15am for a tour. We arrived at the BC bus stop around 7:10 am and the bus arrived around 7:22am. It was very full and we were the last ones to get on. The bus ride was about 20 minutes long and we walked into the MK a few minutes before 8am. The early morning buses usually start running at 6:30am so you may want to try to catch that one. Or you can take a taxi which will cost approximately $20 with tip.

The boat to DHS arrives at the boat dock approximately one hour before park opening. It sits there for a few minutes before it leaves to pick up passengers at the Swan & Dolphin. I would guess that if the boat arrived at the BC/YC dock at 8am then it would get to DHS around 8:20am. You can walk to DHS in about 20 minutes. If you want to guarantee that you get there early, then you could consider walking. It is a nice, shady walk in the early morning. :)

I see there is a question above about the boat to HS and I also have a couple about it. How long does it take the boat to get to HS? Does it stop at other resorts? Are there buses that go as well? If you walk how long does it take at a normal pace maybe even a bit slower if you are looking at the view as you

The boat is the only transportation between the Epcot resorts and DHS & Epcot. The only time they will run buses to those two parks are when the boats are stopped due to lightening. The boat to DHS takes about 20 minutes from the BC/YC dock to DHS. It stops at Swan/Dolphin on the way to and from DHS. A normal, slower walking pace would be about 25 minutes. It took us 22 minutes on a hot, humid day, to walk from the YC lobby to the DHS gates. :)

The boat will also travel to the Boardwalk and Epcot. It's route is Epcot to BWI to YC/BC to Swan/Dolphin to DHS.
The return route is DHS to S/D to YC/BC to BWI to Epcot. I think.

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting and I apologize for the repeated question, but I'm so confused! I looked in the beginning of the thread at the pictures of the rooms and have a question. We are staying at the YC and have a standard view room. I was thinking of requesting one that overlooks the front of the hotel, since that seems to be the "best" standard room view. Am I correct in assuming this or is there another request I should make?

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

:woohoo:

When is your trip?

I agree that the best standard views are probably facing the front of the resort, so that is a good room request. Do you care about whether you are on an upper or lower floor? You could also request "Close to lobby elevator" if you would like to be close to the lobby/pool entrance. Make sure it is clear what the priority order of your requests is. For example "Facing to front of YC resort please. Upper floor if possible"

:thumbsup2

Hello, we arrive at the Beach Club from the UK on Friday 24th July for 9 nights before heading off to the 'other place' for 3 nights, then going to a villa for 10 nights. All FP+ and ADR's are booked, touring plans done, now I'm reading trip reports and forums for last minute tips!

Sounds like a fantastic trip! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1. (Where are you staying for the "Dark Side" part of your trip?)

:cool1:

I am not confident giving information about the early boats or buses because you always seem to get different answers from different CMs.

I have been told buses either start running at 6:30 or one hour before park opening. I think if you are out at the bus stop between 6:45 and 7 am, you should be able to reach the MK by 7:30.

As far as the boats go, I am not positive what time they start running (I plan on personally checking this in August, but that will be too late for you!). Honestly, I would try to be out there by 7:15. I have encountered situations where the boats did not take everyone at the dock because they wanted to leave room for pickups at other resorts. As others have posted, expect the ride itself to be about 20 mintues.

Sue, I may be dreaming, but I seem to remember two routes one service EPCOT - BW - BC/YC and one service DHS - BW - BC/YC - S/D - DHS I could be wrong though.

Four days until we arrive! If anyone has anything they would like me to find out at YC/BC just let me know.

We switched our "bonus" night (added a night to our trip because Southwest had their wonderful sale and it was cheaper to add a day,) from Grand Floridian to Poly villas. We've never stayed at the Poly and this is my husband's first DVC resort stay. We've stayed at AKL and BLT when he wasn't with us and I stayed at SSR when I ran the Princess Half Marathon with girlfriends. We are super excited to stay at Poly! BC will always be our favorite resort though.

I was looking over the tours and noticed Disney added a new one that goes around World Showcase. Has anyone done this tour? I'm going to book it for my husband and me. I had wanted to book the Keys to the Kingdom tour for my daughter's 16th birthday but she doesn't want to do it. Phooey! Even though this would have been my third KTTK tour, I still would love to do it again!

Happy Saturday!

There is a review of this tour over in the theme parks forum and Kathy on the podcast did one the other day. Hers is pretty comprehensive, the one on the forum is actually by the person who was on the tour with her and he answers a lot of questions.

We have the same issue. It was easier when we could get to WDW, see what the CL food was like and then adjust our ADRs, but the 24hr cancellation policy makes me nervous.

I booked Raglan Road through Open Table Orlando so I wouldn't have to worry about losing money if we decided to cancel within 24 hours. You can do the same (by calling the rest. directly) with Yak & Yeti, T-Rex, and I think Rainforest.

Many responded already and I totally agree, ask for Gazebo view (make this reques #1). Don't worry about the full-size balcony, you'll get one (at least that comes with a very high probability rate). One thing you will want to consider though is that in April 2016 the refurb will be in full-swing at the YC and there is no knowing what area they will be working on at the time. However, you have an excellent chance of getting one of the new lay-outs if you ask for upper floor (make this request #2). If you happen to be around the construction and it is bothering you, make sure to go back to the front desk (don't call), ask to speak to the manager on duty, explain the situation, and they will do their best to have you relocated.
I have found the YC side of SAB to be less crowded and calmer but then I'm there in early December. It just seems the families tend to congregate more on the BC side of SAB. My personal observation is that the hot tubs at SAB tend to fill up with kids. You probably want to check out the quiet pool at the YC for this activity.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us all this info! The refurbs have definitely been something on our mind. We have a YC garden view booked at the moment because it was actually the only thing available at both the YC and the BC in our price range. The BC is our first choice but we were shocked when we went to book a few weeks ago and all the standard and garden rooms at the BC were already completely booked for April. So we booked the YC to make sure we have something.

Our overall goal is to wait until December and see if any Spring discounts come out. If they do and there is an opening for a 1 bedroom villa at the BCV we will take that. Since with a discount it will put that into our price range. We love the idea of being in a villa not because of the kitchen but just to have a bigger place to stay and the Jacuzzi! I believe the BCV refurb is happening or starting very soon so by April hopefully it will be easy to get a refurbed villa!

Kenny just shared that Flynn Rider will appear in MK 7/12-7/15 & 7/19-7/22! I hope it gets extended through the end of August. My girls love Tangled.

Is there renovations at the Yacht Club in Oct??

Probably. A start date has not been announced yet, but we suspect that the room renovations will start sometime in the fall, after the current renovations at the Beach Club are complete.

The work should be starting on the 5th floor (club level) and the work will go floor by floor. As far as we know, it is just rooms and hallways that will be done (haven't heard if the club level lounge will receive a refurb, but I suspect yes.

The work will be done with the minimum possible disruption for guests.

If you are not staying on club level in October, I doubt that the work will affect you at all.

We keep the very first page of this thread updated with the latest news about the renovations at the resort as soon as we have credible information.

Hope this helps.

:)

Just curious, if you could only pick one TS for breakfast, one for lunch and one for Dinner what would they be? No character meals!

Breakfast's tricky, maybe Captain's Grille, but the other two are easier:
Lunch = Sanaa
Dinner = Flying Fish (Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner)

There are actually three boats. We saw them come in from the Epcot lake several mornings from our lagoon view room. They came into Crescent Lake about ten minutes to 8am on a day with park openings at 9am. Each boat docked at one of the resorts. Boat #! went to BWI, boat #2 docked at YC/BC and boat #3 went to S/D. When they began their route, the boat that was docked at S/D (boat#3) went to DHS. The boat at YC/BC went to S/D, and the boat at BWI went to YC/BC. After loading up passengers, the boat at DHS went back to S/D. From there it goes back to the YC/BC, then it goes to the BWI, then it goes to Epcot.

:)

Epcot to BW to Y/B to S/D to DHS to S/D to Y/C to BW to Epcot

This is a similar situation to what we encountered when trying to book a room at the BC for last April. We tried to get reservations at the Beach Club on a bounce back discount last October, but there weren't any rooms available. So we ended up booking a room at the YC instead. Then right around the beginning of January, Orbitz released a huge discount. We were able to get a garden view room at the BC for our dates in April at a 37% discount. The bounce back discount was 35%. The BC GV room through Orbitz was $155 less than our YC GV reservation. So I booked the room through Orbitz and switched our YC reservation to the BC this upcoming Oct. It all worked at well and we even got a free upgrade to a lagoon view room. :)

The one bedroom villa would be really nice for your honeymoon. :)

OK, I need to clarify something ... When you were there last October, reserved a BB for April? That's what I'm hoping for when we get there this Oct, to be able to get a BB for April...but lots of folks told me that the only offers you could get in the fall, were for the following fall... Is there a chance there may be a BB offer for next Spring when we get there in October?

We are looking to move from WL to either Poly, BC, or BWI for our December trip. Anyone have info that might swing us in one direction or another? We have been to all 3, just checking for upcoming closures, refurbished, etc. we may not know about.

I know that Wilderness has a HUGE project coming up - additional villas - so there may be some things that could by impacted by that...supposedly starts in October.

Yep, that's exactly why we are considering a move..We ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wilderness Lodge but, not when torn apart. So, it's either taken discount and stay at WL or move to BC, BWI, or Poly. All good options, we have been to all 3, just not sure what is going on now or coming up at any of them that could impact our stay. Leaning towards Poly but not sure yet.

Yes, we made a BB reservation for April 2015 when we were staying at the WL in Oct of 2014. We were at the WL from Oct 22nd to 27th, 2014 and the 2015 room only BB discount had just become available. It wasn't even published in the Be Our Guest book yet. But I knew from following this forum that the BB was available. In fact, the cast member I called was surprised that I knew about it. ;) This forum is great. :disrocks:

I'm hoping we can get the 2016 room discount when we are there this October. ::yes::
