Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Four days until we arrive! If anyone has anything they would like me to find out at YC/BC just let me know.

We switched our "bonus" night (added a night to our trip because Southwest had their wonderful sale and it was cheaper to add a day,) from Grand Floridian to Poly villas. We've never stayed at the Poly and this is my husband's first DVC resort stay. We've stayed at AKL and BLT when he wasn't with us and I stayed at SSR when I ran the Princess Half Marathon with girlfriends. We are super excited to stay at Poly! BC will always be our favorite resort though.

I was looking over the tours and noticed Disney added a new one that goes around World Showcase. Has anyone done this tour? I'm going to book it for my husband and me. I had wanted to book the Keys to the Kingdom tour for my daughter's 16th birthday but she doesn't want to do it. Phooey! Even though this would have been my third KTTK tour, I still would love to do it again!

Happy Saturday!

I would LOVE updated pics of the Marketplace offerings in the Wine section. Also cases of water? and Protein drinks available.
thank you so much!!
If you forget, don't worry about it!!

Breakfast's tricky, maybe Captain's Grille, but the other two are easier:
Lunch = Sanaa
Dinner = Flying Fish (Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner)

I have Sanaa booked for lunch also!!
Another Flying Fish vote. hmmmm, this one really needs to end up on my list!

We had to be at the MK by 8:15am for a tour. We arrived at the BC bus stop around am and the bus arrived around 7:22am. It was very full and we were the last ones to get on. The bus ride was about 20 minutes long and we walked into the MK a few minutes before 8am. The early morning buses usually start running at 6:30am so you may want to try to catch that one. Or you can take a taxi which will cost approximately $20 with tip.

The boat to DHS arrives at the boat dock approximately one hour before park opening. It sits there for a few minutes before it leaves to pick up passengers at the Swan & Dolphin. I would guess that if the boat arrived at the BC/YC dock at 8am then it would get to DHS around 8:20am. You can walk to DHS in about 20 minutes. If you want to guarantee that you get there early, then you could consider walking. It is a nice, shady walk in the early morning. :)

Thank you, that's really helpful!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

:woohoo:

When is your trip?

I agree that the best standard views are probably facing the front of the resort, so that is a good room request. Do you care about whether you are on an upper or lower floor? You could also request "Close to lobby elevator" if you would like to be close to the lobby/pool entrance. Make sure it is clear what the priority order of your requests is. For example "Facing to front of YC resort please. Upper floor if possible"

:thumbsup2

:welcome:

Sounds like a fantastic trip! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1. (Where are you staying for the "Dark Side" part of your trip?)

:cool1:

I am not confident giving information about the early boats or buses because you always seem to get different answers from different CMs.

I have been told buses either start running at 6:30 or one hour before park opening. I think if you are out at the bus stop between 6:45 and 7 am, you should be able to reach the MK by 7:30.

As far as the boats go, I am not positive what time they start running (I plan on personally checking this in August, but that will be too late for you!). Honestly, I would try to be out there by 7:15. I have encountered situations where the boats did not take everyone at the dock because they wanted to leave room for pickups at other resorts. As others have posted, expect the ride itself to be about 20 mintues.

Thank you for the guidance on transport, I appreciate its a tricky question! Should I be embarrassed to admit we've got breakfast, lunch and dinner booked at BOG??

We're staying at HRH after the Beach Club, which should be great fun!

Please could you help with a couple of BC accommodation questions ? We are staying next month and this will be our first on site stay. We are mum d ad and 2 teen boys aged 16 and 14. I the afternoon we will head back to the room for a rest a tea. Will the in room drinks maker cope with making 4 teas and will there be enough supplies ? Thinking of bringing a small travel kettle ! Also do the rooms have a decent hair dryer. Thanks in advance.

You definitely should not be embarrassed about your BOG reservations- you should be proud you were able to get them all!

Love the Hard Rock! My family is staying there for the third time at the end of August, before I will be heading solo to meet up with friends at the Beach Club.

:goodvibes

The coffee maker can make two cups at a time, but they don't have very many tea choices. Of course, you are right next to EPCOT and can pop into the UK shop for the VAST selection. Bee sure to rinse the pot thoroughly everyday before using...and I always recommend that folks purchase a gallon of water in the gift shop. Florida water isn't "wonderful".

Hair dryer is good, but if you have four people fighting over it, you might want to bring along one from home.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. Is your trip in August?

Although you can certainly request additional tea supplies (leave a note, or better yet, call housekeeping from you room), it may not be a bad idea to bring along your own kettle if you have the space. Probably quicker to heat all the water at once, and you won't get any residual coffee taste that may be in the machine.

I'll post a picture of the hair dryer in the room:

Thank you jlundeen, we will bring our own tea bags as usual but good to know the gift shop sells water. We have stayed off site at grande vista many times and just used tap water before so may not need to purchase. Really looking forward to being close to Epcot, the boys are addicted to the shop in Japan so I am planning on letting them roam alone while I soak up some late afternoon sun weather permitting !

We keep the very first page of this thread updated with the latest news about the renovations at the resort as soon as we have credible information.
:)

I really want to thank you for updating this thread with the latest renovations information (and for putting it on page one so it's easy to find). I know that construction doesn't bother some people, but we really prefer peace and quiet on vacation, so it really helps with our plans. I'm thinking we will stay at the BC (even though we really prefer the YC) in the spring because I want to avoid the mess and there's no way to know what it will be like in March. :)

Dee : would you mind linking your TR about HRH that had the tips with short cuts. Can't seem to find it. Thank you.

I am assuming you are from the UK, and likely you know this already, but don't forget to bring an adapter if you bring the kettle and/or your own hair dryer. Disney rooms only have American style outlets.

Also, the room will only have bagged tea. If you want loose leaf you'll need to bring your own plus the infuser.

We are looking to move from WL to either Poly, BC, or BWI for our December trip. Anyone have info that might swing us in one direction or another? We have been to all 3, just checking for upcoming closures, refurbished, etc. we may not know about.

All great choices! I'd probably go with Poly because we tend to spend a majority of our time at MK during December. But if you spend more time at Epcot and the Studios you'd be better off with BC or BWI. I think you're safe as far as closures and refurbs go with BC. :)

Here is my Hijinks and Shenanigans trip report from our first stay at the Hard Rock with a lot of pictures and info about the resort. I'll also post the specific links.

Our Disney part of Princess Lily's vacation is over. Today our little girl turns 4 and we are off to Anna Maria Island for a week. We met some friends all day yesterday at Magic Kingdom and then went to Hoop Dee Do. Lily loved Hoop and the entire day, although horribly hot, was such fun. Great company (3 other CMs from Y&B) joined us too!!!! Lily wants to go to Hoop in December too she said. I went bust on getting her #1 dinner ADR for her Christmas trip (BOG) unfortunately.
Happy birthday :bday:Princess Lily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cake:Enjoy AMI, I can't wait to hear all about it!! We will be there in 27 short days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hourglass

I seem to have lost the link to the page that shows the hotel diagrams (with all the rooms showing) for the YC and the BC. I know it's not current, but I would love to take a look at it. Can someone point me in the right direction, please? (I've seen the ones on touring plans, but I'm looking for the older ones).

ETA: I found links to the DisneyZone archives on page 1 of this thread. Thanks for posting those!

There is a review of this tour over in the theme parks forum and Kathy on the podcast did one the other day. Hers is pretty comprehensive, the one on the forum is actually by the person who was on the tour with her and he answers a lot of questions.

Thank you! I'm FB friends with Kathy. I missed that she took the tour. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm going to book tomorrow.

Will do!

Catho72- would love a report or pictures of BC Club offerings!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY!

I can't believe its been 4 years already!
