Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I am notorious for booking too many ADRs and then canceling them because we just can't eat it all. Right now I have an ADR every night of our next trip and I need to cancel about half of them. It's just so hard to know which nights to choose.

We have the same issue. It was easier when we could get to WDW, see what the CL food was like and then adjust our ADRs, but the 24hr cancellation policy makes me nervous.

I'm going to ask for the menu when we arrive. Then I can see which nights the boys won't be interested. Our first night is BOG so I know I'm keeping that. :)

Welcome to all the new members that have discovered this amazing ( the best actually) thread on the Dis!!!!

64 days to go!!! Guess I better make a FP plan!!!!

Just curious, if you could only pick one TS for breakfast, one for lunch and one for Dinner what would they be? No character meals!

Breakfast - Kona Cafe
Lunch - LeCellier
Dinner - Artist Point

That was hard...so many favorites. We just had dinner at Jiko for the first time in May and that was close to a favorite dinner place along with Yachtsman. Happy planning!

Ok, so my Table Service for breakfast would have Johnny Depp wheeling in a room service cart for Matthew McConaughey and I for a little Breakfast in bed.

For Lunch it may be necessary to give Matthew a little break so I would have Channing Tatum meet me for lunch at Le Cellier for a little prime beef.

Then for Dinner I'd text Matthew and tell him to meet me at Kimonos because hopefully that is all he will be wearing.

Who's next??

Sounds good to me! Hoping these ADR's are complete and ready for us in August! You are taking care of dining reservations, correct?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I don't remember seeing it... for EPCOT rope drop, coming from the BC/YC, do people line up early at the International Gateway entrance? Then at rope drop, are the two options to either go left toward Future World, or go right if I want to grab breakfast in France (which I really want to do one morning)? :-)

Club level just opened up for our dates at YC. Anyone stayed CL there that has any insight to share?
We have stayed YC club level 4 times. The first time we had the regular dining plan and I felt like it was too much food. We were eating because we felt like we had to, not because we were hungry.

The next time, I got the Quick Service Dining Plan. This was fine, but we were tired of quick service meals by the end of our seven night trip.

The past two times we have not gotten a dining plan. We eat breakfast in the lounge. My family usually eats cereal at home for breakfast, so the lounge actually seems like a big breakfast for us. I plan a table service meal for lunch, and we have apps in the lounge in the evening. We then return to a park and eat something quick service if we are hungry.

My daughters usually order off the kid's menu and my husband and I split something. There are lots of Dole Whips, Mickey Bars, and Smoothies purchased. I think we need a snack meal plan.

So my fiancee and I finally booked our honeymoon! We are currently booked for a stay at the Yacht Club from 4/11/16-4/21/16. She has been to Disney before but I haven't and I am beyond excited for it. We have the Yacht Club booked now but when spring 2016 discounts come out we will try to take whatever is available at either the YC or BC. If a 1 bedroom villa at the BC is available at a discount we may even take that because a larger walk in shower and jacuzi feels more honeymoon-like! With that said I had some questions about stormalong bay! Our top reason for picking the YC/BC is the location. The boardwalk inn was another choice at first because of location. However, since neither of us have experienced it and I've heard great things we really wanted to experience stormalong bay. This question may seem silly but I wanted to see what people said...I know you don't really go to Disney expecting much peace and tranquility. We are a couple that loves being active and would rather be at a theme park than sitting on a beach. With stormalong bay though we are curious if there are any areas that are quieter, more calm or simply aren't as crowded...So if we did want to relax at the pool we wouldn't be completely surrounded by families and kids with pool toys! We fully expect stormalong bay to be crazy and full of kids having fun. We just didn't know if there are any more secluded areas.
Many responded already and I totally agree, ask for Gazebo view (make this reques #1). Don't worry about the full-size balcony, you'll get one (at least that comes with a very high probability rate). One thing you will want to consider though is that in April 2016 the refurb will be in full-swing at the YC and there is no knowing what area they will be working on at the time. However, you have an excellent chance of getting one of the new lay-outs if you ask for upper floor (make this request #2). If you happen to be around the construction and it is bothering you, make sure to go back to the front desk (don't call), ask to speak to the manager on duty, explain the situation, and they will do their best to have you relocated.
I have found the YC side of SAB to be less crowded and calmer but then I'm there in early December. It just seems the families tend to congregate more on the BC side of SAB. My personal observation is that the hot tubs at SAB tend to fill up with kids. You probably want to check out the quiet pool at the YC for this activity.

You enter the IG and they let you goin into the Epcot area a good distance. Remember that WS doesn't open until 11:00am so you will probably want to proceed through the UK and Canada to go the front area and the rope drop for that. Last December we wanted to to an event back at the American Pavilion which was supposed to start at 9:00am. They wouldn't let us past the rope in France until 9:00am and you should have seen the drag race of the electric carts. A truly senior moment. Of curse if you have breakfast reservations in Norway you are allowed back there for those with no problem and no wait. Since the rope for the WS area is just past the France open area, getting there for morning breakfast is also not a problem.

Our Disney part of Princess Lily's vacation is over. Today our little girl turns 4 and we are off to Anna Maria Island for a week. We met some friends all day yesterday at Magic Kingdom and then went to Hoop Dee Do. Lily loved Hoop and the entire day, although horribly hot, was such fun. Great company (3 other CMs from Y&B) joined us too!!!! Lily wants to go to Hoop in December too she said. I went bust on getting her #1 dinner ADR for her Christmas trip (BOG) unfortunately.

We actually have Kona breakfast scheduled 3 times this trip  Artist Point is always a must! And I hear they have a new head chef?!

Happy Birthday to Lily!!!!! :bday: My "baby girl" turned 18 yesterday :sad2: Where does the time go???

Hm. No characters, so I'd swap out Boma for Tusker House. For lunch, I'd have to pick Biergarten. Does the Oompa band count as a character? I just love this one. We've made such great friends eating at this meal. Our last trip, we met a family of five staying at YC, so we spent hours hanging out with them at SAB over the next few days. For dinner, it's a tough choice. If it's just me, I'm going to Flying Fish, most likely. If I'm with everyone else, it's probably BOG. Not so much for the food as the location. We've had great times there. If that counts as a character meal because of the Beast, I'd have to go with Flying Fish. Unless I could get V&A and the chef's table. I ate there with my husband for our tenth anniversary and it's one of the top five meals of my life.

.

I'd love to try Boma breakfast! I hear such good things about that place! We had Biergarten one year, and were seated with a group of ladies all on a girls only trip!! They were so much fun!!!

Flying Fish just might be going on my list this year. Haven't tried it yet!!!

I haven't done the 9 am rope drop at the IG, but here is a description from July 2013 of the opening wait for Early Magic Hours.

Extra Magic Hour this morning at EPCOT. After our breakfast in the lounge, we made our way to the International Gateway

We arrived at the IG at 7:45 and they hadn’t started letting guests in yet.

This was the view walking up:

And looking back:

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting and I apologize for the repeated question, but I'm so confused! I looked in the beginning of the thread at the pictures of the rooms and have a question. We are staying at the YC and have a standard view room. I was thinking of requesting one that overlooks the front of the hotel, since that seems to be the "best" standard room view. Am I correct in assuming this or is there another request I should make?

Hello, we arrive at the Beach Club from the UK on Friday 24th July for 9 nights before heading off to the 'other place' for 3 nights, then going to a villa for 10 nights. All FP+ and ADR's are booked, touring plans done, now I'm reading trip reports and forums for last minute tips!
I've got a question that I'm hoping people can help me with: What time should I mobilise my family to get them to the bus stop? They are very well trained in rope drop and don't complain at all about the early mornings, which is a bonus!
If we want to be at MK for approx 7.30 AM (8.00 ADR for BOG on a non EMH day) what time should we be waiting for a bus?
What about the boat to DHS to arrive at the park approx 8.15? I've had lots of suggestions to walk in the morning because of the queue for the boat, but I think there's enough walking already!

All suggestions gratefully received :)

So the rope is past France which means we can still go to the bakery prior to 11, right?

I asked my husband where he'd want to eat if he could choose one sit-down meal and he said he thought the Tusker House breakfast was the best in terms of variety and quality. Boma is very similar to that, if I'm remembering it correctly.
