Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

My sister-in-sister-in-law was just telling me she did that at BMO so I expect they all do it. I bank RBC so I might have to do that so I have some US dollars. I usually have my holiday savings in a money market account so I make some intrest but the dollare was almost at par the last two times we went so that was ok....might have to adjust my saving plan.
I find it better if you go to the U.S. To have a combo of USD acct & credit card. Before we leave I transfer most of what I think I'll use from USD checking to CC which also cuts down on how much cash I have to carry. I take some USD cash but pay with CC for most things. When there I use CC to buy Disney gift card. So I don't have to worry about carrying around (or loosing) CC.

I already made mousekeeping envelops (and stuffed them) and made lists of every option slushies and smoothies in all parks by location. The next compilation will be appetizers (because we do not have the dining plan!) so that our party of four can pick one (maybe two if we can't decide) without an argument or hurt feelings while we relax at the table service places I reserved. I also need to revisit my list of snacks, which is old, and no longer is very accurate. They no longer have stuffed pretzels at the Launching Pad from what I hear. If anyone has a snack list - I would love a copy!

How about a split stay between either YC or BC & the Poly? We're doing that at the end of August. We have 4 nights at the Poly & then 5 nights at BC. You could do most of your MK time while at the Poly & most Epcot & HS time while at BC or YC. I don't have much insight yet but I'll let you know how it goes after September. :)

We're doing the same thing - we were originally all 10 nights at the Poly, but the construction was making me uncomfortable, so we decided to do a split, 5 Poly, 5 Beach Club. I'm enjoying planning around the 2 different stays so much I think we'll do the same thing next year - half resort near MK, half Epcot area.

page 81-83 I was under the impression that guests couldn't use the luggage carts from Bell Services or the Valets at the Yacht & Beach Club. During my 2013 trip, I overheard a family ask if they could use one and they were told no. But with just about everything at Disney, I'm sure there have been exceptions. I just wouldn't count on being able to use them without the assistance of bell services.
Sorry if I had some bad information there. I didn't ask, just took the one that was sitting out in the lobby.

I was showing DH pictures of the YC and saying if we get a good deal I want to stay here. Only thing he said was "Will it be as quiet as CBR was?" I have to say our last trip we went at the end of August and it was amazingly quiet at CBR! So basically I have to convince him it will be quiet. I also pointed out that we can walk to Epcot and HS or take a boat. Also there are all those other resorts close by that we can walk to and try out different places to eat. It may come down to me saying this is where I booked and since I do all the planning I get to pick where we stay. Of course if they don't like it I'll hear it evert day. On the up side 11year old DD liked the look of the pool. Oh well I have some time to plan and also we won't be going if the Canadian dollar goes to low.
Lobby of YC is usually quiet. Lobby of BC is a little more "busy" due to Cape May being there. Going in the halls back to the rooms can be noisy in either resort IF you are lucky enough to have the unsupervised kids with lots of energy and parents who don't care if anyone is bothered by their noise (it happens everywhere at any time). Of course if you are there at SAB when NM is running the sycronized pool noodle team through their paces it could be very loud. Hope you have a great time at the YC.

I finally caught on on this thread - thanks to everyone for all the great info and entertainment (I'm looking at you, NM - Happy Belated Birthday!) on this thread and past BC/YC threads.

Only 79 days until I check in for my first YC stay - we have 3 rooms for 9 of us, and 4 more staying at AOA, all for my 40th birthday celebration - I can't wait! Only 19 days until we can make FP+ selections. I need to call WDW tomorrow to add names to the rooms, it's been a challenge to figure out everyone's travel schedules, coming from New York, New Jersey, Indiana, and Florida. :-)

The YC Room Views thread and the photos on here have helped tremendously, thank you! I think we are not going to do online check-in because we're fortunate to have a friends and family discount from a friend who's a CM at Disneyland. That makes me a little nervous, but he's assured us that he sent in all the necessary paperwork to the resort. Plus, while my parents may want their room near the lobby, I care more about being on an upper floor with a great view (we all booked garden views).

We have ADRs at Captain's Grille, Kona Cafe for my birthday brunch, BOG dinner, and Biergarten so far.

I'll be staying 8 days, and everyone else is staying 4-5 days, so I'll have a couple days at the end for some solitude. Any recommendations for restaurants at or near the BC/YC for solo dining? I'm considering booking a spot at the chef's table at the Flying Fish.

I hope to meet Tina while I'm there (Sept. 25th - Oct. 2nd)! :-)

And this will be my first time using my AP, which means I need to start planning my next visit after this one! :-)

I've also stayed at CBR at the end of August and found it to be pretty quiet. We are doing our first BC stay 8/31-9/5 after 5 nights at the Poly. From what I hear the YC is quieter than BC. I just can't wait to try out SAB. I showed the kids pictures of SAB and they about freaked.

Also I have a DD named Carys. Your SN stuck out to me. :)

I think YC will be better with my kids going to be older. My 18 year old complains about her youngest sisters loud friends...she seems to get along with boys better than girls so a group of 10 and 11 year old boys can be loud and they eat everything in sight! I hope it all comes together for us but worse comes to worse we just push it back a bit. Would love to know what's going to happen at HS and when but you can't wait forever for stuff to be finished. I did say we had to wait for Harry Potter and Universal to go there as we are such big fans of both the books and the movies. Since our first two trips they have added more HP so we are excited about that. Also Universal with have King Kong and a new water park by the time we get back. Wish Disney would be a bit faster but we will have 7 mine train and hopefully Avatar at AK! Who knows they maybe some new stuff at HS as one would thing they would want to open things as they are finished to attract people to the park. Right now it seems to be a bit empty after all they have closed. My youngest loves TT and we had to go on it a few times.
So do you have Welsh in your background? My mother was Welsh and so that is how I got Cerys. I have a terrible time with it here in North America but if I'm in the UK they all get it right.

Yes I hear you about other people's kids and I hate those parents who can't be bothered about what their children are doing and who they might be bothering. My kids are more of less past that stage though I find that if they are fighting they don't care how loud they are...we are getting past the fighting stage as well and they are actually beginning to like each other so hopefully be the time we do our next Orlando trip they will all get along well and maybe DH and I can send them off on their own and have some time together. The oldest will be 20 so should be ok to be in charge of a 16 and 13 year old. Besides by their 3rd trip they should more or less know the ropes.

That stinks!!! Sorry you have to go through all the hassle, but I'm glad the situation was not worse for you.

:sad2:

We never drive while in the world, so I don't have any advice for you, but I just wanted to say thanks to your son for serving and thank you to his family for your sacrifices.

:grouphug:

Not sure if I have said :welcome: to you yet. I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add you for the end of summer.

:woohoo:

Thanks for letting us know about your trip!

:thumbsup2

Sounds like great news to me!

You are still going to Disney AND you have two more trips in the hopper.

And I have been keeping the virtual BOG eraser close at hand, so no worries there.

:goodvibes

What a generous offer! Did you find a taker? I suppose if someone is coming a little later than Thursday, you could leave it at Bell Services with their name. That's what I did with the coffee maker I brought on the class trip to All Star Movies.

::yes::

No takers so far, may just place them outside my room with a "help yourself" sign at this rate :)

Yes, our dollar sucks now  ugh. I feel YC is quiet too. And the benefits of the location can't be beat. Also best pool on property.
I have a USD acct & credit card with Cibc. Every pay day I buy USD, so I have it from different rates rather then just buying all the USD just before trip. Thankfully I bought my air when it was still par. And Mostof our resort paid off at higher rates. My suvie budget will suffer though. Won't be buying much.

No welsh in my background. I'm Puerto Rican but loved the name after I heard Catherine zeta-jones name her daughter Carys.
Well she is definitely Welsh☺

3 weeks from today, we'll be in our happy place once again!!! It's been 4 looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong years since we've been!!! We are arriving on my older daughter's 15th birthday. :flower1:

Same for us! :) We will be there in 17 days and it's my son's 16th birthday! :D Can't wait to celebrate at the BC!!!! :)

:offtopic:
I just discovered that my Lyme doctor won against charges brought against him from the greedy insurance companies hiding behind stupid screening test protocols developed by doctors with patents making millions based on a single bacterium isolated from a tick with no proof of human disease pathology that was isolated over fifty years ago. He still has a license and continues to be allowed to save lives from chronic Lyme disease that these fools expect us to believe does not exist. Sorry, but I'm so happy to learn that right can overcome sometimes.

I am glad to hear this! Heard a great show on Lyme today and thought you might be interested. It's on NPR and is available on the show website and as a podcast. Look for The Diane Rehm Show from today.

I'll have to check it out. I purchased a spooky2 and co treated myself for two months using this frequency generator and 3 types of antibiotics. I have my brain back. I consider myself lucky to have paid this doctor out of pocket to save my life. Turns out, that the State of Maryland has a law that protects doctors from insurance companies controlling treatment, and most of the charges were just dismissed. The real criminals are the doctors writing the protocols, like the doctor with the vaccine patent single handedly excluding band 40 from the western blot screen- for a vaccine that doesn't even work. This ruling made me extremely happy.

Glad to hear Canadians can get magical deals at YC. Which do you find saves you more the room rate deals or free dinning? I yet to luck into free dinning as they always seem to offer it mid august for Canadians on a year we aren't going.
By the way what part of Canada are you in? We are in southern Saskatchewan.....which smells like a giant campfire at presnt.
For us the room only discount is better at Deluxe. It's usually only me & oldest daughter, so room discount def. ESP with magical deal. Even staying at a moderate we find room discount better. We haven't done free dining in awhile. Or any DDP. We pay oop. We tracked our dining expenses the first couple of times without DDP. I put what DDP costs on a Disney gift card and used that for all our dining, incl tips. We always had quite a bit of $ left over. We just don't eat as much as what's on DDP. We prefer water at meals, don't want desert after lunch, and prefer to share a desert at dinner. Also don't want snacks, too full. So we end up with a lot of snack credits our last day & just buy packaged Mickey rice crispy bars, & candy to take home for suvies.
I've heard this year they've tweeked the DDP and made it more flexible. They had taken a bunch of things off it, making it less attractive to me. Like sides of scrambled eggs or breakfast sausage at breakfast. It was a better deal being able to use my snack credits for breakfast. Will have to think about giving it a try again when I'm not staying Deluxe.

We are in BC, smells like campfire here too, it's awful :sad2: last count was over 200 fires here. Haze is thick. For 2 days we had to keep doors & windows closed and it is so hot. All fans going. Still smoke haze. Leaving for the Island tomorrow in hopes of getting out of this for a couple of days!
