Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hey all! my fiancee and I are planning to have our honeymoon in Disney. She's been there a few times but this will be my first time. We are going in April 2016. We are going to be booking soon but I had a question about the construction/renovations at the YC and BC. I see the information that the BC renovation should be complete before the end of this year and that means the YC renovation will be starting. The YC renovation probably wouldn't be done then by April 2016.

Our first choice in resort of the two is YC because we like the way the rooms are themed more than the BC. However we are a little concerned about any construction/renovation noise, especially since it will be our honeymoon. Yes it's Disney we aren't really going there for the peace and quite :D but it would still be nice to not have any construction/renovation noise while there.

Is this something to really be concerned about? Does the noise ever get really bad? Would it be better just to play it safe and go for the BC since their renovation will be complete before our honeymoon?

Has anyone who ordered their Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves received their orders yet? I am sitting here with my beach club-smelling hands and I was just wondering who else is smelling like the BC right now. What do you think? Does the smell match?

~Cari~ pluto:

Yep, we just got ours today. I love the scent of the hand soap and the body wash! We think it smells just like Beach Club! :thumbsup2

I'm so excited! My extra birthday present yesterday was booking our flights for the trip--found an excellent deal, direct flights leaving 7am arrival before 10 and on departure day leaving Orlando at 7:45! Maximize both days! And the price was lower than I've seen yet and it's JetBlue so we get to check bags! I'm psyched as this was a big trip planning item that was not tied down yet! Woohoo!

Has anyone stayed in 5637 at BC?

I like that hallway.. Close to the lounge but not too much traffic

I am so jealous of Dee. Now I'm more excited than ever to possibly get my room request for Gerard Butler.

I have these spots forced into my touring plans. Since I plan to avoid greens due to possibly adverse skin reactions, baked goods are very high on my list for dining options: Writer's Stop, les halles boulangerie-patisserie, starring rolls café, sleepy hollow, main street bakery, and Kringla; and, I also have a few stir fry locations in mind like Yak and Yeti and Katsura Grill. I'll need to order something less healthy from Columbia Harbour House. Hoping to get the seafood sandwich from Hurricane Hanna's. We only made ADR at Beaches and Cream, Cape May Café dinner, Be our Guest lunch, and Tony's Town Square. Food in the World is going to be a whole new experience for us since I have this allergy to something Disney may use to grow/clean vegetables. And the selections look delectable.
That is so sad. I love everything vegetables and greens. Hopefully nothing specific Disney does to ruin vegetables!!

I would grab the room map and go running through the Beach Club Marketplace screaming " I HAVE THE BEACH CLUB ROOM MAP AND YOU DON'T!!!!!!"

NM I quadruple dog dare you (and I want to see the video lol!-bet that would hit a million views on youtube...:rotfl2:).
Kicking myself that I didn't get a picture even if it didn't get the whole thing...does hypnotism work? I stared at that thing long enough that a brain cell somewhere should have an imprint...

Oh I would totally do this. I am not bashful in the least. The only question remaining is do I do this fully clothed or do I do "Au Naturel"...

I love fruit and veggies too. I have a skin allergy to soaps, some chemical added to market variety soap, some chemical that is not in standard allergen tests. I think the steamed veggies just did not denature or dilute it away. I am guessing this because I know what soaps or products give me rashes. I was afflicted hard last visit, so Disney just started using it in the last two years. I would imagine five percent or less of the population would have noticed it. I know all the nurses in Disney have seen the ramifications. I plan to avoid fresh, good produce- which is easy enough in Disney. The other theory is Monsanto modified seeds that include insect DNA- but that could be just a conspiracy theory or my imagined nightmare.

Edamame (steamed soybeans) and blanched green beans did me in last time.

Thanks, Katesdad! That's very helpful! In one of the first posts in this thread it mentions Ale and Compass has "real" coffee which I assume means brewed from grounds instead of the syrup used in the coffee makers at the food courts. It doesn't matter much to me as long as I get my caffeine buzz. ;)
Wdw switched a couple of years ago from Nescrap to Jofferys. I believe it's brewed from real beans not syrup. It's now in all the resorts and parks.

I was describing the drink to the teacher and he asked me "Can you get it frozen?"

And I am embarrassed to say I didn't know! Never even thought of asking.

So he completed the research mission for me last night.

:banana::banana::banana:

An update text from the teacher, although I didn't get a review of the drink from him yet:

"Bartender said too much juice in the Treasure so better off not doing frozen"

But sorry, professor, there are some lessons you have to learn for yourself. I'll be doing my own lab research at the end of August.

And I will be your lab assistant
(Or lab rat)!

Okay, somebody remind me what this is and I'll ask about it when I check in at the BC desk next month. I am not doing online check in, so I will have to go to the desk anyway.

I'll say that my friends dared me to ask if I could take a picture of it.

What am I asking about? A map which shows where every room in the BC is? Or did it show categories? Somebody please be specific. I don't have the energy to go back through all the posts to find the one where it was first mentioned.

Results of my home lab experiment: I only had enough ingredients left from previous "experiments" for 2 STs, so I decided not to try freezing, (plus I didn't want to wait for it to freeze), so instead used crushed ice instead of ice cubes....not quite the same as frozen, but nice and slushy...and very yummy. After I restock I may try again, but chances are, I probably won't want to wait for my green delights! (Sounds like an addiction, doesn't it!):rolleyes1

Just a question of someone who might be able to ask while visiting the YC. When they start the refurb work, is the Captain's Grille scheduled to go off-line for some repair and maintenance? If so, do they have any time frame in mind when this will be happening? Now I'm certain the CMs at the concierge and front desk won't know so you may have to push a little to have them check in with the managers. I'm just wondering, that's all.

The lady at our check-in had a color coded map that had the categories laying out right beside her-I was trying to (discreetly) look at it as she gave us our room number (upgrade to water view). I had my phone out, camera on, but she never turned away long enough to snap a picture! Was too much a chicken to just blatantly lean over more for a good pic LOL!

Your mission - should you choose to accept it....
