Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Well, I was thinking more of a general tour like they have at the Boardwalk resort, but thanks anyway for the info.

I use to know the guest services manager at the YC, but sadly she doesn't work there anymore. You could probably tour on your own pretty easily, the hotel is laid out in a fairly simple way. The lobby area, gift shop, restaurants, lounges, etc, are all on the first floor and easily accessible to the general public. You can walk the perimeter of SAB by exiting the doors near the Yachtsman's Steakhouse and walking towards the Beach Club. That walkway takes you past the fitness center, salon, and arcade. You can continue on that walkway all the way past Beaches and Cream and into the BC resort. It's a fun area to checkout. :D

If you want to see a guest room I would just ask for a manager at the front desk and see if they have an empty one they could show you. Years ago I did that at the GF and they were happy to show me one. :)

Hmm, that's not the way it worked at the end of February. When you enter Jellyrolls, you pay the cover charge by whatever means you want (cash, credit card) and you keep your credit card. Once you are seated, the waitress will ask if you want to open a tab OR pay with cash as you go. We usually do open a tab, in which case the waitress does take your credit card and hold it until you close your tab. We've always had the option not to open a tab though, which means you would keep your credit card. Also, our card was never charged a $50 minimum. We usually only get 2 drinks each, and when we close our tab, the total is only for the amount we ordered. Now, it's possible they put a $50 hold on your card? I don't know that for sure, but I can say that we've not been charged a $50 minimum.

Thank you! We would probably only get 2 drinks each as well, so a $50 minimum would be a little annoying (although that same review said drinks are all $10+!)

Thank you very much- the BB offer will make my life so much easier than waiting for discounts to come out during the year or waiting for a pin code!!! I'm assuming that once you have the reservation locked in, than you can make room changes- which I seem to do a lot of- I changed this year from CL water view to just a garden view- now I'm at a water view only!!
There are issues now on changing rooms and changing dates. I guess Disney is enforcing it. If there is no available discounted rooms in your category at the time you want, then they won't give you the change. There are threads on the board on this. Just be careful.

We are on our way to our room. We just spent the morning at DHS enjoying Star Wars weekend. Looking forward to a great swim in Stormalong Bay! Our room appears to overlook the vollley ball court, which is not bad for a standard cl room. I'll take some pics of the room and view later.

I can't speak for the BC/YC but a friend has gluten allergy and DL Hotel accommodated her. All she did was tell them when she got there. I'm sure you can have that added before you arrive. I also saw them make arrangements for a child with food allergies in the CL lounge at the YC

I have been doing some research as I have a new sensitivity/minor allergy to milk and eggs. Breakfast is giving me the biggest headache! Anyway, I found a Disney Food Blog post that showed the BC Marketplace has a hanging spiral book on the side of their bakery case with all the ingredients for each item. I'm really hoping this will still be there on our trip! The only thing I haven't been able to find is if WDW uses eggs or milk in their pancakes and waffles...still searching for that answer.

I just realized that we are now in double digits until our BCV vacation! :banana:Now that school is out for summer, we can get down to some serious planning. :goodvibes

I haven't had a chance to read the thread yet, but has there been any word on when the villas renovation will start?

I'm a teacher and my last day was yesterday! Isn't that the best feeling!? Now we can actually focus and plan :yay:

:welcome:

Is your trip in September? I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Hope to see you around here a lot now that you can do some serious vacation planning.

We do try to keep the first page of this thread updated with refurbishment news. Unfortunatley, we have not had any official word about the start date for the BCV renovations. I don't feel confident guessing a date. Rumors had the work estimated to start as early as March, but that has come and gone with no news from anyone that work has actually started.

:)

View attachment 101175 We are in room 5652! It's perfect. Just tried out the lounge and it's incredible. Been here 1 hour and it's already our favorite resort! Beaches and cream in 30 mins!!

So glad to hear about the great start to your trip and that you love it!!!

Great view!

When I am looking for something unusual to bring back to family/friends, I can usually find it at Fittings and Fairings. When I was recently staying at the BC and could not find just the right gift to bring back to a family member, even after searching at the parks and at the Marketplace, I walked over to the shop at the YC. I found something really unique, which was a big hit; I only wish I bought several, as I searched online to buy more, and the item was not available.

For some reason, they always have more CMs working there, than customers. IMO, the place is a hidden gem.
I totally agree. We use Market Place for the fast food items and resort specific goods (like the Christmas pins) but DW and I usially purchase more at the YC because they always seem to have the nicer goods. Should we call it a "diamond in the rough"?

Here's another deep dark(side) secret, in addition to the fact that I have not had a meal or ice cream at Beaches & Cream.

I have never seen or stepped foot in Fittings & Fairings

I keep forgetting it is there and the only time I have been in the YC lobby is for meals at Captain's Grille. I will attempt to correct both of these oversights on my trip in August!

You have to book the BounceBack offer while you are still at Disney World (although someone reported being able to finalize their BounceBack reservation within a certain number of hours after they checked out). Thus I don't see how you would be able to contact Disney at a later date to change a BounceBack reservation to a different booking category. However, I have never tried it, so I am not speaking from personal experience.

We barely finished a no way Jose with five of us, but we saw plenty of parties eating a kitchen sink. Verified you can order pretty much any sundae at the take out window at beaches and cream. Going for a swim now! View attachment 101180

That sundae looks so good! We plan on ordering a No Way Jose when we eat at Beaches and Cream in a few weeks. Did you guys also order other food? If so, would you recommend anything?

I can not believe you have never been in Fittings and Fairings.... I love this store. So quite but whatever type of clothing you need they have. DH on one trip forgot a decent shirt and we got one there. I forgot a swimsuit once and thye have multiple selections....

Anyway Dee...I have been working a ton of extra review classes, and tutoring in preparations for exams... so we are doing one last trip to WDW for a while & we are not renewing our AP's :(

So we are staying at the BC 6/29-7/5. Our AP's expire on the 7/4! Likely we are staying SV but we may swing CL but it is so expensive for the 2 of us! Just happy for one last trip for at least 18 months....

Maybe we'll see you around the parks and I'll be at work on the 5th in case we don't see each other running around Disney. Love it if you got to meet Jeanne and Lily!!!!

I was able to book my BB after I left the resort and flew home. I had called from the resort that morning and got the quote. Explained I wanted to talk to DH (who couldn't go with us). I called before 10pm, spoke with a different agent and booked a different room category than I had called about in the morning. Had no problem but I did use the reservation phone number that the agent gave me (not the regular reservation number). I did not try to change the hotel or room category after my reservation was made but I did get a change in rate when the rate posted on the website was adjusted several months later.

Edit-tried to quote Best Aunt but couldn't get it to work!
