Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I'm a teacher and my last day was yesterday! Isn't that the best feeling!? Now we can actually focus and plan :yay:

It is the BEST feeling! Part of the fun of a Disney vacation for us is the planning. Now that school is out for summer, we can spend more time planning while we wait for our trip to get here. :D

:welcome:

Is your trip in September? I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Hope to see you around here a lot now that you can do some serious vacation planning.

We do try to keep the first page of this thread updated with refurbishment news. Unfortunatley, we have not had any official word about the start date for the BCV renovations. I don't feel confident guessing a date. Rumors had the work estimated to start as early as March, but that has come and gone with no news from anyone that work has actually started.

:)

Thank you for the welcome! :wave2: We'll be at the Beach Club from September 13th -21st. Thanks in advance for adding us to the Be Our Guest list! :goodvibes

I haven't been on the boards in awhile. (I'm still trying to get used to the new format.) I'm really looking forward to getting back into some serious planning.

Thanks for the info on the refurb. I'll be sure to keep checking out the first page for updates. :)

We will begin our YC stay in 3 days! I have a confession. I am upgrading my 7 day park hopper to an AP. I'm doing this for my daughters, too.

Anyway, a friend of mine has a conference at CSR at the end of June. The room is payed for by her company, and she invited me to come along. The room is free and the AP covers the tickets. How could I say no? The plane tickets were $59 each way. Well, I am going! I feel almost guilty...

That sundae looks so good! We plan on ordering a No Way Jose when we eat at Beaches and Cream in a few weeks. Did you guys also order other food? If so, would you recommend anything?

It was a huge sundae!! I thought it was a great value, too. $8.49...I believe. We spilt two angus cheeseburgers (come with lettuce tomato and a pickle spear) and a seafood salad sandwich which was delicious. It was stuffed with shrimp and crab meat. The burgers were very good although very pricey...we ate quite a few bacon wrapped scallops and spanakopita at the lounge an hour before so we weren't too hungry. We had a great server...Omar from Morocco. He also works at Restaurant Marrakesh and we will probably see him later in our trip there. He gave us some great tips on what to order.

Our concierge CM, Brittany was absolutely wonderful at check in. she gave us a tour of our room and made sure everything was ok...served us some non-alcoholic sparkling juice (champagne was offered but we don't drink) then she scored us a fourth fast pass (for Pirates of the Caribbean tomorrow night after we hop to MK from Epcot). They also provided us with a text number whenever we needed assistance booking additional fast passes. This is a great CL perk since it will save you time from having to visit a kiosk.

I'm so excited to be staying at the Beach Club 11/19 - 11/26. I've been to CSR a couple of time for work (conference) and a couple of years ago we took the kids. Along with past stays at Animal Kingdom Savanna View and The Contemporary, they love CSR. This year we went to book FD at CSR and they were sold out so our only option was Boardwalk. After we booked BWI a week later CSR opened so we switched, but it was too late. I had been looking at the boardwalk area and loved the idea of walking to Epcot, HS, and SAB looked really cool. So we discussed it as a family and should Beach Club open up we were going to change. Last weekend sure enough there was FD again at Beach Club so we changed again. I feel like we're cheating on CSR a bit but I'm super excited to be able to walk over to Epcot.

So now I can't stop thinking about it and created a great spreadsheet/schedule and have all our ADRs set up. There is no way I'm going to be able to wait 166 days. We even have a Black Hills and a Grand Canyon Rim to Rim vacation between now and then to look forward to. Does anyone have any advice on how I can be productive between now and then and not spend 95% of my time thinking about the Beach Club?

BTW I find this site (and this thread in particular) very informative and everyone so helpful. Thank you all.

I wish I was already done! We still have 12 student days - last day for kids is the 23rd and my last day is the 24th! But at least it is helping to pass the time until we leave for WDW!

View attachment 101175 We are in room 5652! It's perfect. Just tried out the lounge and it's incredible. Been here 1 hour and it's already our favorite resort! Beaches and cream in 30 mins!!
Great view! What category do you have booked? We are booked GV CL so I am curious if this is what we might see! Thanks for sharing!

Quick question - are you saying CL guests are being allowed to book a 4 th FP before using the first 3?

I was able to book my BB after I left the resort and flew home. I had called from the resort that morning and got the quote. Explained I wanted to talk to DH (who couldn't go with us). I called before 10pm, spoke with a different agent and booked a different room category than I had called about in the morning. Had no problem but I did use the reservation phone number that the agent gave me (not the regular reservation number). I did not try to change the hotel or room category after my reservation was made but I did get a change in rate when the rate posted on the website was adjusted several months later.

Edit-tried to quote Best Aunt but couldn't get it to work!

I had trouble with that post. It kept posting like I was quoting myself!

We are staying SV CL so I would expect a better view. We can see the rooftop of the solarium from our room and the check in driveway. I'd have to say it is one of the nicer SVs.

I don't know if it's standard practice but when we checked in I asked about booking a 4th for the 2nd park and Brittany said "what time window works for you guys?" I was surprised, but then again we've become pretty good at laying on the charm and smiling a lot when interacting with CMs!!

I'd love to know how often this can be done. We've always stayed CL at BC but this year decided to do a waterview room since kids stopped using CL as much as they got older. If we were able to get 4 tg FP every day it might be worth the $80 a night to go back to CL. Anyway you can find out if this is the new "norm"?

Hi Robyn! I don't know about others experiences, but we were also given a 4th FP on our arrival day, shortly after check-in, for Fantasmic before using our first 3 FP's at AK. Other days we used the CL texting service and we were not allowed to book our 4th FP until we "touched Mickey" using our 3rd FP. CM's were very responsive with the texting service and also helped get us a B&C lunch reservation for same day when we ditched our lunch at BOG. So nice perk, but no guaranteed 4th FP daily before using the first three for us.

Good luck with your decision. That draw to CL can be very strong...:scratchin

Thanks Rebecca! In my head I know we should keep waterview room - in my heart the pull is strong! I have to keep telling myself how much we can do with the extra $900! Not to mention we have DS's wedding next May . . .

Question for the experts:

During our trip, my daughter's college soccer team will be playing a game in Lakeland, FL. It's a great chance to see her play, so we wanted to rent a car and drive out to her game that evening, then return it that night or the next morning. Is this even possible? How should be go about getting to the nearest rental place? Any tips?

Thanks so much.....from a very happy mom and dad getting this chance!!!!!

Ha ha ha! I think you're asking the wrong people! :rotfl2:We have a trip to Destin, FL next month but all I ever think about is planning for BC next Easter, and I can't even explore the packages yet. I also have a spreadsheet set up that not also works out my budget/savings, but the ADRs that I hope to schedule.

They say that planning for a vacation is as beneficial to your mental well-being as actually going on one, so enjoy the warm-fuzzies as you plan. :goodvibes

There are issues now on changing rooms and changing dates. I guess Disney is enforcing it. If there is no available discounted rooms in your category at the time you want, then they won't give you the change. There are threads on the board on this. Just be careful.

Thanks, hopefully I can pick a room category and stick with it!!!

Sounds like a great thing to do. Yes, you can rent a car from National at the Dolphin. Very convenient. When my in-laws were in Tampa, we would fly into Tampa, visit with them for a few days and then drive to Disney and return the car to the Dolphin. It is an easy walk to the YC/BC. Check out Nationals website. There is also rental car companies at the Car Care Center near the MK.

You have to book the BounceBack offer while you are still at Disney World (although someone reported being able to finalize their BounceBack reservation within a certain number of hours after they checked out). Thus I don't see how you would be able to contact Disney at a later date to change a BounceBack reservation to a different booking category. However, I have never tried it, so I am not speaking from personal experience.

It is easy to change a BB reservation at a later date but you usually have to call and talk to a special department. What usually happens whenever I call to make a change to a BB reservation, even if it is only to add a room request, the first CM has to transfer the call to the BB department. :) It just takes one more step in the call but they are always very nice about it.

But I'm not sure how the new policy will affect changes to dates or resorts for the BB reservations. It has always depended on whether there is availability for any date or resort change, since those have always been limited to begin with. Sometimes I've been able to change dates and/or resorts and sometimes I haven't, although I've always been able to subtract days. I just haven's always been able to add days.
