Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Both rooms I was in at Pop Century had clock radios. The first room I was assigned reeked of cigar smoke as soon as I walked in :sad2: It did have a clock radio. They immediately moved me to another room with the same room requests after I called.
My room here at the Yacht Club did not have a clock radio so I asked one of the Mousekeepers for one and a CM brought one up a little later :yay:
Kaitlyn told me they removed the clock radios a year ago and that they have been getting many requests for them :rolleyes1 My phone is not letting me post pictures so I will do that when I get home :)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Yacht Club and Epcot resort area

Glad to hear you are enjoying the resort.

:dogdance:

The removal of the clocks really annoys me. When we stayed in October, we asked one of the club level CMs if we could get a clock. He said they get asked that a lot, but couldn't get us one.

HELLO!!!! If a lot of guests are asking about this, 1) Maybe Disney should consider bringing them back and 2) How about supplying them for the guests that ask???

I guess we should have gone directly to a Mousekeeper to get results.

It was not easy to "just use my phone" as a clock, because YC has limited plugs and if I wanted to charge my phone overnight, it was difficult to place the phone somewhere that I could see it during the night.

:headache:

I understand being annoyed by the clocks being removed. I actually bought a travel alarm clock for our BCV trip in October. I found, however, that there were USB charging outlets on the desk next to the King bed in our renovated 1 BR Villa. I was able to charge my iPad and iPhone and still reach my phone to check the time during the night - a must for me. I was pleasantly surprised and it worked perfectly.

Yes, that was the case when I stayed at the renovated Beach Club- plenty of USB outlets right on the table between the beds. But during our stay at the YC, the outlet near the bed was positioned so that my phone was not able to reach the table.

I was disappointed in myself that I had failed to bring my own travel clock, but I was even more disappointed that the staff at the Yacht Club was not willing to find one for me.

:(

I took a few pictures of the Christmas display at the Yacht Club. They might be out of focus, which I'll blame on the Mai Tai from Crews Cup rather than my careless picture taking. ;) It was an adorable display and I wish we had gotten back over there to see it again.

Y'all - I'm SO excited! My MagicBands have shipped and I'm less than 30 days from my first-ever long stay at a resort! (My parents still live in Orlando, so I usually stay with them except for the occasional one-off night).

I've got one night at BC (Jan. 5) and then four nights at BCV! (Jan. 6-10) - super excited.

There's a large group of us running the events over Marathon Weekend - since I'm local, I'll be bringing cases of bottled water with me for our rooms ... and there's always some left over that I don't feel like carting back. Let me know if you're checking in on the 10th and I'll leave the remainder at Bell Services for you!

Checking in on the 4th and checking out on the 12th with a detour for the half on 1/7! You'll have a blast at the BCVs.

And two ornaments from the Yacht Club tree:

I love the Chris Craft boat. My grandfather had one and this brings back fond memories. :)

The lighting was terrible at the Beach Club so I only have a couple decent pictures of the gorgeous chocolate and gingerbread carousel:

Wow that looks absolutely fabulous! They really did a neat job of decorating and I love all the details. We haven't seen them since 2000 when we were there visiting with our DS for his 1st birthday. They always push the boat out at the resorts at Christmas time and the parks look stunning too. Thanks for all the shared photos it's made my morning and lifted my spirits.

We arrive at YC tomorrow!! That's the good news. The bad news is we're trying Magical Express for the first time & I'm reading several reports of hugh lines at the airport check in & 1.5 waits for the bus today. :sad2: Great. We usually use a towncar but since this is a sort of last minute bonus trip, we thought we'd save a little money & give ME a try. Guess you get what you pay for....
