Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Good morning!

I was wondering if anyone knows if a folded up jogging stroller would fit in the BC closet? I hate having it take up space in the room and would love to stash it away.

Also, would you visit a water park or do you think SAB is enough water fun?
Assuming BC closets are the same size as YC, it should fit. Our double would have fit easily if folded. But the rooms are so large, we just parked ours between the dresser and the closet. Fit perfectly. :)

And SAB is basically a water park itself!!

Thanks for that information! Now, do you know how hard it is to get Mears taxi vans with car seats? We are traveling with our two grandchildren twins that will be two years old at the time of our trip. I'm starting to think renting a van and bringing our own car seats is an option but really don't want to mess with driving around ourselves. I guess we could also just eat close by, but reading some of the dining reviews at places like AK and other resorts make me want to go there!

I would ask on the Transportation board here on disboards. Reading that thread has convinced me to use Uber (their prices are so much better from what I've read, but you do have to download Uber ap and you do have to put your credit card... but then you don't haggle, you know the price upfront, and you don't have to pay a tip! For me, some of the taxi/mears drivers I've had intimadated me!)

I wonder if Uber has their XL cars with car seats? It may be worth checking in to...

and I'll add congratulations taking your twin grandchildren, what a great experience!

:welcome:

I am not aware of any formal tour of the Yacht Club (or Beach Club), but what a neat idea. I don't think the resorts lend themselves to an organized tour as well as a place like Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge, where there is a lot of stuff to visit indoors and out.

But we can direct you to the fake elevator in the Beach Club Lobby! It is the first one on the right as you face the Marketplace. Go around to the back and you will see a bank of pay phones where the elevator should be.

Do you have an upcoming trip booked? Let us know the dates if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Thank you for this quick reply. Yes, I have a WDW trip booked for July 11-21, with the first four nights being at Yacht Club. If anyone else will be there around that time and would like to give me a quick tour of public areas at the Yacht Club (morning may be best), I'm all ears. I won't have internet access during the trip, so we'd need to touch base beforehand. Have a magical day!

Does anyone happen to know if the lounge has any gluten free options? I haven just been diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity and its a little challenging to plan meals. just trying to prepare myself before I go.

I also have a gluten allergy (and hashimoto's thyroiditis) was diagnosed a while ago but have been 100% gluten free since last September. Lounge CM's and chef were great in pointing me towards gluten free options. They will bring you special gluten free cookies / brownies upon request, these were simply delicious. The chef also volunteered to prepare shrimp or chicken gluten free during evening offerings. I appreciated the offer, but was fine with things already provided. Only bummer is the homemade chips are not gluten free but I found many other options especially in the mornings.

Thanks - our daughter is on the young side so we should prob save the water parks for future visits. Can my husband go down the water slide with my daughter (4 year old) or is it one at a time?

It's one at a time. When ours were little we'd both go up the steps with our girls. One parent would go down and wait. Then girls would go with the other parent taking up the rear.

Hopefully we can get her to go on her own - I know she'll love it but will be nervous the first time

We will be arriving Dec 6, will the BB offers be available for 2016 (room only)? Do you just go to the front desk to book the BB offer? (we aren't staying CL)

The slide is very tall. A four year old might be scared at first. It depends on the child. It's a lot of fun! I'd wait with her the first time for sure!

Thanks - I definitely think the tunnel will intimidate her, but she's pretty brave so she prob will try it with encouragement.

They use to leave information in the room on BB but when we were there last December they didn't. I called reservations and got a BB person to talk with who hooked me up for this year (Dec. 11 - 17). I would imagine the front desk in the lobby can help get you connected if there isn't any information in the room.

I have twins too, mine will have just turned three when we are at the beach club in August. I can tell you it is not very easy to find a taxi that has two car seats. Sometimes they can radio a "buddy" and borrow their seat, but it is not reliable. I would consider bringing or shipping your own. It doesn't cost anything extra to check car seats. We bought "cheap" car seats just for that reason... walmart has the Cosco Scenara convertible car seat for $35 each. It has great safety reviews but most importantly it is VERY light weight. So it travels so easily. People worry about damage to seats on airplanes but these are so cheap, you can just use them for the vacation! Even if you end up renting your own car, it will cost you more to rent their crappy, dirty car seats then to buy those one new... the rental places charge $10 a day per car seat! Crazy! We always travel with our seats because we rent a car... this upcoming trip will be our first leaving them at home, since we will not be renting a car and have no plans to venture around too far.

Staying at the Beach Club Dec 6th-12th. Looking forward to it! My family has been planning to stay here for years and this December worked out great with a pin code and the room refurbs!

Not sure the front desk can help you. You can dial reservations from your room phone (or a lobby phone). I believe the number is 8844, but that may not be right. Just look at the phone to see. Ask the person who answers to tell you about any current BB offers. They are very helpful, in my experience.

There was a bounceback offer in the information booklet inside a folder in our room on the desk or bedside table. It looks like an advertising brochure, but it had a foldout page inside with the bouncback offer code.

I have a question I should probably be able to find the answer to, but cannot.... Can the kids wear a floatation device (puddle jumper) on the big slide?

If you don't mind me asking, what % did you get off the room?

When I was last at BC, I believe that offer was 35% on most Deluxe resorts and 30% on Moderates, and 25% on Value resorts.

If there is no information in your room, you can ask at front desk or concierge desk. I did this and was given the current offer info, which showed a calendar of dates when the offer was available.

A previously mentioned, you need to call in from the resort, before you check out. The last time I called, they asked for my confirmation number of the current stay, to verify my eligibility.

The offer usually changes in August.

I know there is no way of knowing for sure but I'm wondering....Do you think the Yacht Club room renovations will be completed by November 2016?
