Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

It depends on what you book. If it's a package, you put $200 down. Room only bookings require one night stay.
When I booked a BB in December 2014 for December 2015 I was "room only" and paid a $200 deposit.

How about some love for the Villas!
Thank you for sharing the love. Looking forward to my December stay in a two-bedroom villa.

We will be YC SV CL Jun 20-26. We love the BC/YC. A couple yrs ago was our first YC stay in years. Last yr we were BC CL. We sorta missed the YC side.. so I got YC when I made the ressie last week. Reburb was not on my radar....since we had said we were skipping Disney this summer...now I'm really regretting not going BC CL to get a chance to enjoy one of the newly done rooms. The pics of the YC rooms compared to the new BC rooms are sad to me.

ETA: this trip is for DS's College Graduation

Thank you for all the info and keeping this going.

Teena.. sure hope your are getting over the swelling. My jaw was sore for probably 3 weeks after my Jan 2015 root canal because it took 2 appts and for the sheer amount of time I had my mouth opened.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Have you checked to see if you can switch resorts or is it too expensive/no availability?

:)

Does anyone know the current pricing of the Illuminations cruise? And about how long is the cruise? Thank you!!

FYI- there are a couple of reviews of Illuminations cruises on Page 1 - Activities post, I think. Post 5???

:goodvibes:

Deleted because I found my answer in another members answer to my question! Thanks!

Good eye!!! :magnify:

I just changed it last night or this morning.

I like to use the title to emphasize that this thread is not just about facts (FAQ), but there is definitely friendship and fun here, too.

:grouphug:

Don't laugh, but I was stressing about getting complaints (my memory from a few years ago is actually working) and was hoping the name would get changed soon!!!!

Hi, just found this thread, and haven't read the whole thing, so please excuse me if this question has been answered already. Does anyone know, does the Yacht Club offer a guided tour of the resort (as some other WDW resorts do)? Thanks in advance.

You just found a new position for Disney to fill........I will gladly head over and accept the position!!!! hahaha

For those days when Teena isn't there, here's an online CALCULATOR for getting from one place to another.. using Disney transportation - apparently the driving directions really isn't working right now...

Thanks for this link. I tried a couple that didn't have any instructions though (like AK Lodge if we want to eat there in the evening to the Beach Club). I am wondering if I just do the opposite of what it says to get there (i.e. if I search Beach Club to AK Lodge, is the best way to return to the Beach Club the reverse)? I know this might sound like a stupid question but knowing Disney transportation, this may not be the case!

Not a stupid question at all. No questions here on this thread are ever stupid!!! And you are right, sometimes going and coming back you might take very different routes!!! Like going on an Epcot bus or monorail, then strolling back through epcot to International Gateway back to BC. Great way to get back to resort, IF you have park hoppers!!! Dee does this often!!!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is tricky because Animal Kingdom Park closes on the early side. I normally tell people to look at what times the parks close that night. If your dinner is going to be over around 9 PM, then your best bet is to take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then transfer to a Y&B bus at Magic Kingdom. If Hollywood Studios is open to 11 PM, then you can take the bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Hollywood Studios and then take the boat back to the Y&B.

Downtown Disney is always open real late but I use Downtown Disney as a last resort since it is the farthest away from Y&B.

If you have an early dinner at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can take the bus from Y&B to Animal Kingdom Park and then hop on the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus but that rarely works coming back since Animal Kingdom Park usually closes fairly early. Once the new attractions are open at Animal Kingdom Park, then the Park will be open later in the evening and you can use it as a bus transfer place.

Speaking of transportation confusion....

On our very first trip, way back in 1988, we stayed at the BC (that's probably why it's our favorite now!!!!) and they had the "flag system". At check in, they gave you a little brochure with about a hundred different little flags listed as destinations. On the front of each bus, there would be one of the color coded flags - there were dedicated buses that went everywhere!!! It was very confusing cause there were so many different flags, you couldn't remember any except the main parks. The transportation system has evolved over the years to what it is now, partly I think because of the economy, but partly for simplicity sake.

Still confusing for first time visitors - sometimes it's the buses, sometimes it's the boat, sometimes the monorail. But believe me, it's WAY simpler to learn than the flags! LOL

For the people who booked a bounce back offer while at Disney. What is the deposit required, one night, or is it a lower deposit?

:rainbow::rainbow:
We've booked several room only BB's and have always paid the one night's deposit. :)

Is there a place somewhere that shows things like "How do you get to the _______________ from the Beach Club?" with Disney Transportation? I know that buses go to AK and MK and walk to Epcot etc., but what about if we are trying to go to places like Trail's End Restaurant or the Ohana restaurant? I am making dining reservations and am just wondering about getting places. We have 6 people and too many for one taxi so I would like to see how Disney Transportation gets us to some of the other resorts before I decide on times for dinners and breakfasts. Thanks!

The best way to go from resort to resort is via taxi. We have used the Mears taxi's with six people and paid the same price as we would for two people. They keep the van taxis standing nearby. You can see them parked by the bus stop. In fact, every time we have used a Mears taxi to go from resort to resort, even if it was just two of us, they have given us the van, although every time is really only about five times. ;)

If you want to use Disney transportation to go from resort to resort, then you have to take a resort bus from a park to do it. We prefer to pick up a resort bus at DHS rather than Epcot because the DHS bus depot is very close to the walkway and boat dock. The resort bus stop at Epcot is a bit of a distance and we found out that it is just as far to walk through Epcot as it is to walk to DHS.

We have gone to Trail's End from BC via two different ways: one was the MK bus to FW boat, the other was a taxi to the Wilderness Lodge with a nice stop at the Territory Lounge, and then a lovely walk on the nature path to FW. We saw deer on the way there and stopped to see the horses before our ADR. The second way was definitely our favorite way to go. In fact, we booked another ADR at Trails End in October and will be stopping by the WL again. :thumbsup2

GRRRR!!!!

Is anyone else having issues with multi-quote? I am trying to post replies to comments from page 7-10 and I keep getting an error.

:confused3
It worked fine for me.

This is my favorite site for how to get to/from anywhere in the World. And you can switch your start and end points for the reverse trip (not always the same!)

Does anyone happen to know if the lounge has any gluten free options? I haven just been diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity and its a little challenging to plan meals. just trying to prepare myself before I go.

Yes (fruit, eggs, yogurt in the morning), trail mix, Swedish Fish. For nighttime apps- depends on the night: chicken skewers, olive plate, fruit, cheeses.

Best bet is to contact them to see if they can accommodate you while you are there- special cookies or apps

Y&B opened in November 1990. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year!!!! But I remember the flag system!!

Tell me about southwests deals!! We don't have them fly into our city but they do fly into the city about 90 minutes away.
They have extended the sale into today (Friday) because of the heavy traffic on their website. They had $99 one-way from St. Louis to Orlando, but only through December. I'm hoping they do this again in the spring because it would save us 50%. And Southwest is the ONLY airline that flies direct from stl to mco. Crazy, right?

The name change threw me for a loop. I thought there was ANOTHER BC/YC thread happening and I couldn't believe it was 18 pages already in a day or two. Ha! I'm ok now. I figured it out.

Thanks for that information! Now, do you know how hard it is to get Mears taxi vans with car seats? We are traveling with our two grandchildren twins that will be two years old at the time of our trip. I'm starting to think renting a van and bringing our own car seats is an option but really don't want to mess with driving around ourselves. I guess we could also just eat close by, but reading some of the dining reviews at places like AK and other resorts make me want to go there!

Good morning!

I was wondering if anyone knows if a folded up jogging stroller would fit in the BC closet? I hate having it take up space in the room and would love to stash it away.

Also, would you visit a water park or do you think SAB is enough water fun?

I know others answered -(and Teena has great info) so I will just confirm. The last time we stayed at BCV we did schedule our Boma dinner on our Animal Kingdom day, so after we finished AK park, we took the bus to AKL, then walked around the lodge before our early dinner (it was before 6) We then took a bus, and I think we played the game - first bus here will be the park we go to!

It was for Studios. Now I'll add this tip. IF you enjoy wine, and you browse the Animal Kingdom Lodge's Mercantile, you will be tempted to purchase a value priced wine. And when you get to the baggage check the Security guard will look at you like you are nuts! lol - but he will escort you to baggage check and you can check your bottle of wine and still enjoy the park!!
