Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I got the email too! My trip is Aug 27. I don't think it will matter too much, as long as the pool is open :) Sadly my kid no longer naps so daytime noise won't be a big issue.
I think if they tried to renovate SAB during the summer, the guests would riot. And my son and I would lead the way.
:beach:

I am trying to decide between BC and YC for our stay with a family of 5 11/4 - 11/11.
BC currently has a standard room that is slightly cheaper than YC but YC only has Garden/Woods view availability. I would prefer a Standard view because I think those are usually cheaper. I wondered if there was a convention or something taking up all of the Standard view rooms so I check a number of different days/months at YC and Standard view never had availability. Anyone know why?
I was leaning towards YC because I think there would be a possibility of a better discount on the YC rooms (25%) vs. 10%-15% at BC. I know it is not a sure thing to get the discount but I want to maximize my odds of getting the cheapest room possible at either BC or YC.
Any advice?

I don't have advice but I had the same experience when trying to book for our summer trip. I think that standard rooms weren't released until the AP discount was (true for POR and YC). Not only will conventions book them in advance, but I think that WDW holds back the less expensive rooms because they don't need to worry about them being occupied. For this year, the refurbishment will impact room availability at YC as well.

Not saying there isn't some sort of convention activity as well, but that week in November is "Jersey Week" and contains a Federal Holiday. Probably a decent factor in the crowd levels.

Must have been email day - we received one also for our May trip. I think CL will be done so not really worried and I asked Signature Services to add a request for a bath tub room. Getting more and more excited!

When I emailed special services last week they told me CL was scheduled to be completed within 2 weeks (barring complications of course). They seemed somewhat confident it would be complete by my 3/10 arrival so you should absolutely be fine for May.

So, am I understanding this correctly? Fittings and Fairings will no longer be? I love that gift shop! I buy my swimsuits there, and pjs, etc. I always have like this shop! :(

The shop is cut to about half of its size, with the balance of the space concealed behind temporary walls, to block off the area where the food and beverage area is under construction. It looks like they have retained most of the men's and women's clothing and jewelry, but cut back on items such as kitchen ware.

My husband and I will be staying at the Beach Club August 31st-Sept 4th~! We have never stayed here before and I'm curious how much extra time we will want for playing at SAB... would any of you experienced adults be able to tell me if a few hours is sufficient or do you find yourself swimming more here than you would at the Poly or other pools?

It doesn't seem like there are a lot of options for hot breakfast at the quick service place since we aren't fond of the waffles (don't hurt me, lol!) but maybe the breakfast sandwich is really good..? Is there a better option for a hot protein heavy breakfast?

For those concerned about construction noise at the YC, the plan is to block out the rooms directly below those being worked on, to minimize disturbances to guests. That means fewer rooms being available for booking.

Since there is much more extensive work being performed in the YC rooms than at the BC, including the new plumbing, the construction schedule is assured to run longer, than at BC.

The new Express Fresh room service program recently began its trial run at the YC. The service provides quick service, delivered right to your guest room. Prices are plus a room service charge, as well as gratuity, which will get added to bill. The food is delivered in a decorated paper shopping bag, complete with upgraded plastic utensils. Delivery time is quoted at 30-35 minutes, but will probably end up at about half of that time.

That makes sense. Good thing one of my favorite past times is stalking all things Disney. I will be keeping a close eye on the promotions for the November time frame, I am thinking I will really need to start paying close attention in April.

That INCLUDES delivery and tip??? Those prices are shockingly reasonable by Disney standards!!!!!

You are correct...they will add room service charge and 18% tip...I will correct. Thanks!

The pricing is still very reasonable, though, and a good incentive for guests to order; it also bridges the gap of lack of quick service at the YC, till the Fittings and Fairings food/beverage addition is finished.

SAB is much bigger than any other pool on site. My wife and I do seem to spend more down time here especially in the lazy river portion.

For breakfast we do one of two thingd ... (1) walk over to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in France (EPCOT) and grab some sandwiches there or (2) walk over to the Boardwalk Bakery for their goodies

Have a great trip! :)

We just got back from a quick trip to the Poly and compared to SAB, the Poly pool seemed small!! Can we possibly be that spoiled? Pictures do not do it justice! It's massive and so much fun. I would double the time you usually spend at the Poly pool. Enjoy!

Agreed!!! Our first trip to YC was in 2015, our first trip to the Poly was in 2016, and while we both thought the Lava Pool looked really cool (and I give the pool bar a BIG thumbs up!), it just did NOT compare to SAB.
