Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

Speaking of scaffolding, someone just posted a short video about an hour or so ago on FB. I took some screenshots to share.
Thanks for sharing. Did you notice a common theme in all your screen grabs? They are all looking directly at the scaffolding (seeking it out). Any scaffolding blocking the camera in the screen grabs?

This reminds of the WL rooms that have Fireworks view but if you look down you will see the Smoke House, the loading dock area, and shock of all shocks the CM parking area.

At the CR Tower in a TPV room there is always someone that complains that if you look down you see the parking lot or the front entrance. My suggestion to all is don't stand at the balcony railing looking down or you will miss the world going by...

We have seen the same thing at the Y/C & B/C this past summer when there was scaffolding along the Crescent lake side of the resorts as they did roof, siding, and painting work. All 3 resorts also have something in common, they are all from the early 1990s and need some work to refresh their exteriors.

Hi everyone! We are staying at WL starting on November 5 and I am wondering if anyone knows what time the pools are open until? We have a 7:15 reservation at Artist Point and we are hoping for a swim afterwards. Thanks’. 🙏

Disney has generally been following a pattern since Covid of shifting to 10am-10pm pool hours for the ‘winter’ months. I am not sure if they have shifted yet but I suspect it’s close to that time, if not already.

Always appreciate first hand reports from the ground that help us all keep tabs of the latest if you happen to remember while there.

Have a great trip!

Looks like they are taking down the scaffolding.

I just chatted with the Disney World hotel side's customer service and asked, "When will Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas exterior refurbishment work be completed?" They told me it was scheduled to be completed by the end of Dec 2026. Yikes!

Was this an actual F2F chat or just an online chat? If online all bets are off.

However there is still lots of work to be done based on what has been done so far. They still need to do the roof on the CCV side of the lodge, and the exterior on the Courtyard side / Exterior walls on the BRV side.

It was an online chat. I suppose they could be misinformed but I believe they really checked though because they were away for quite a few minutes before they came back with an answer.

Magic Kingdom Water Taxi Service to Nearby Resorts Makes Major Change

The complimentary water taxi service from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge has changed protocols, affecting some transportation wait times and policies.

Previously, there was one boat route that took guests between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Another, totally separate boat traveled to and from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Now, one boat is transporting guests to both resorts, leaving Magic Kingdom and stopping at Wilderness Lodge first before heading to the campgrounds.

This means there is no longer a direct boat to the campgrounds, creating a backup at the Fort Wilderness dock. What used to be a 20 minute boat journey from the park to the campgrounds has become roughly 35 minutes with the additional Wilderness Lodge stop.

The change reportedly has to do with the amount of boats that can accommodate scooters and strollers. Scooters can only travel on the large enclosed boats, not the small open air boats. And strollers have to be folded up on the small boats.

With the updated route, a large boat now stops at both resorts, followed closely by a small boat.

A third water taxi connects Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, but this route does not begin operating until the afternoon.

Will the new water taxi service from the MK mentioned above also change the trip from the WL going to the MK? It doesn't seem that the new policy will affect guests of WL when they are leaving the Magic Kingdom and going back to the resort but what about in the morning when guests are headed to the Magic Kingdom?

Good question! I am going to assume (even though my mother told me never to assume) that it would. I'm wondering if once people unload from the MK at the WL, they load guests there going to the MK, then drop off the FW guests and pick up FW guests going to the MK after unloading. That will add on time for each set of resort guests, depending on the trip/direction they are going. I hope they are adding additional boats! Not sure I am a fan of this decision...
