Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

Hi everyone! I’m booked in a king water view room, and my boyfriend decided last night he’s ready for his first wdw world trip. To say I’m excited is an understatement. WL is one of my dream resorts, but now that he’s coming, there’s a concern I’m hoping someone can answer before I try reaching out to wdw. I’ve googled but I can’t quite tell what’s to believe on Google anymore.

Do the rooms, specifically in my category, have some sort of table that can be utilized as a desk. I stayed at AKL for the first time last fall during Milton, and know there was a table, but also Milton so maybe we should swap, but lose the view category.

YC is also an option and it looks like those rooms have actual desks, but again lose the view, it’s the most expensive, and the worst view, but Epcot walkable (my favorite park). I’d book the Swan but it’s honestly way more expensive than i expected and I kinda want him to experience a true Disney bubble. He definitely prefers quiet but the akl transport is maybe a small concern I have with him. I don’t know, sorry 🫣I’m just confused.

I’m hoping the hive mind can give me some advice. I know I can’t make everything perfect, but since he will have to work while we are there, this seems like a small consideration I can make for him for taking the time to join me.

Thank you so much! (We live somewhere where the PNW vibes are easy to find if that matters?)
Check out YouTube for room tours! Search for King rooms at the WL, lots will come up. Make sure it is after 2020, since hotel side rooms were renovated during/right after the pandemic. I do not think there is a desk, but there is a small table and chairs.

No, none of the regular WL Guest rooms have a desk, or even an end table at a height that could be used as a work table.

When is your visit planned as both the WL resort, and the YC have construction related projects ongoing and for the WL it will involve the refurbishment of the CCV DVC side of the resort so you would see and hear construction work in many water view rooms that overlook the Courtyard from mid-May 2025 to September 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins will undergo guest room refurbishments.

The AKL Jambo House does indeed have a table and 2 chairs.

The end of September! I booked at WL, not one of the other buildings? so does the CCV construction affect the main WL building. Since I’ve never stayed there before, I’m unsure of the terminology of the resort.

And I’m glad I asked! I YouTubed and the two videos I opened show a desk in the king rooms!

So it sounds like I probably have to forgo the view—akl or yc hmmmm

The CCV DVC is what was the south wing of the original WL. It like to think of the WL as big U shape with a North Wing and a South wing with both wings overlooking a common Courtyard. Almost all if not all King WV rooms overlook the Courtyard.

For your WV resort room you can just look straight of of your balcony and see the CCV side. There may be large blocks of rooms with Black plastic over the windows, Construction workers and noise during the day. All they have posted is a September 2025 end date but not a specific date.

I don’t have personal experience w/ WL King rooms, but I just watched some videos as well which show a nice desk in the King rooms (probably same ones you watched). Looks like you’ll be OK. You’re lucky, Disney (and current hotel design trends everywhere) are at war with desks and have generally been removing them with recent renovations in standard 2Q rooms across property. Drives me nuts personally as I prefer to be in a normal, seated desk position for a video call or just working in general vs having to come up with some other setup, balancing a laptop on my lap or an end table etc.

Enjoy your WL stay!

Considering I promised time for work, I feel like that should include a workspace for him! I used the chat feature and he seemed confident that the king rooms will have a desk.

Are you able to use the contemporary business center if you aren’t a guest? I wonder if the lobby of WL has any hidden nooks he could use. As much as I’d love YC, gotta save it for when the view is better for the price point so it’s between keeping what I have or spending a nominal amount more for akl. I think I’m leaning to keep WL for now! Thank you!
