Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

@kimmar067

How was the food? I've never eaten there.
We just got back - Artist Pointe was our first night dinner. It was our second time there - and honestly, we were disappointed.

The food was just fine. The portions for the main course were definitely greatly reduced from from 2019.
Our waitress was not great. Drinks were delayed - normally I'd have a couple drinks at a dinner like this, but the first drink wasnt even brought out until food was served. Wish I was kidding. The characters were much less organized than I remember from last time - and any other character meal. We had to stick around our table for a solid half hour, maybe 45 minutes... after we were done eating... waiting for Snow.

Minus CRT, this was our most expensive meal of our trip - and it was the most disappointing meal of the trip.

On the bright side - we stayed at Wilderness for the first time (for a night) before moving to Yacht. Loved the pool. Loved the outdoor bar even more. The room was great too.

Here's our room:

Artist Point does seem hit or miss. I liked it when it was a signature,
but it wasn't ever a must get.
Geyser Point Bar and Grill was a great addition. I wish WL could land
on the perfect formula for Artist Point. But look at California Grill.
I used to love it and the brunch. Now it's a very expensive but mediocre fixed course.
(just my opinion!)

New to WL. Can fireworks be seen from WL (aside from fireworks view room)? Also, is there a refillable kids cup that can be purchased?

can anyone recommend some good running routes - we are staying at WL in May and would prefer to get the daily run over with on site if possible? I understand there was a good track but it’s now closed due to construction?

A Nature view room on a high floor can have a fairly good view of the fireworks if you don't mind looking through a few branches. There is a fantastic view from the hallway windows on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors. You can see the entire castle from that view. The windows are in the hallway that is closest to the elevator by Roaring Forks. You have to move the wooden shutters to see out the windows. But if you want to hear the music then you need to stand by the water next to Geyser Point. You will see a lot of people out there, waiting for the fireworks to begin. It is one of my favorite things about staying at WL. :)

If you want to stay at WL then you can run in front of the cabins and around the resort. If you want a longer run then jump on the Fort Wilderness bus. It is a short ride to the Settlement depot where you can run on the golf cart path for miles. :)

...how disappointing! Maybe because we had a rather large party :confused3 [7 of us] we had more interaction, as well as a prime location. Our service was excellent - the staff were very attentive to our needs, like refills of drinks, prompt delivery of our food, etc. We saw all the characters several times while we were eating......really....such a shame, because of the hefty price.

Unfortunately WL is not the best for logging miles. It’s passable, but it’s a lot of laps. This was 6.2 miles a few years ago, not sure how many laps it was but seemed like several. This was like 5 or 6am with few cars so I covered extra ground in the parking lot as you can see. I miss the path to FW dearly.

Not sure I am understanding, so can you see the fireworks from Geyser Point?

OK, I did ask this on another forum but figured I would post here too since this is strictly about WL. This is our first time going to WDW without a car and we will need some groceries. I hate to sound stupid but I have never ordered from any grocery delivery service before and have no idea how it all works. There will be 6 of us and will be here in July, I'd love to order Walmart or from some other grocery store. Should I just goggle the closest Walmart grocery delivery service and just order with the WL address? How early do I have to order for a delivery on check in day? Or do any of you have any other suggestions?

I could hear the fireworks on my 5th floor balcony that looked out to the boat dock. I could only see them if I leaned out and looked to the left a little bit. I didn't take any pictures because I was afraid I would have dropped my camera.

I’ve gotten deliveries from Instacart (Publix). If you google the address for grocery delivery you’ll find it pretty easily. There are lots of sites that give tips on ordering groceries at Disney. I’ve never ordered to WL so don’t have the address for you.

I’d choose a delivery date as soon as you can (not sure how far out they allow that). Sometimes they get booked up. I usually estimate when we will arrive at the resort and have it delivered around that time. Some services require you to be there in person if you order alcohol.

With Instacart I receive a text when my shopper starts shopping and a text when they are on their way to deliver. They also text when they arrive. I’ve never had a problem with it.

Good luck!

What are Roaring Fork's current hours? Says Dinner, then Late Night dining? What time is dinner until, then what Time is late night dining? Will be getting in late from our flight.

Roaring Fork currently closes at 11pm. The "late night dining" is typically the last 30 minutes of operation. MDE will have the most recent hours for each meal time.
