Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm not sure how the pools work! Will the new pool be for DVC guests only or all Wilderness Lodge guests?
All Wilderness Lodge guests can use either pool. There isn't any restriction for DVC members only. :)

The only DVC resort that I know of that restricts the pool to DVC members only is at Bay Lake Tower.

Ok, good to know, thank you! We will be staying at WL for the first time in September and I am hoping that new pool will be open!

I will be checking-in over the weekend, and I got a call this morning from the "Wilderness Lodge" (I assume a call center) if I had any questions or concerns regarding the refurbishment. I missed the call and that is what was left on the voicemail.

Does this seem to be the norm? I follow multiple threads and have not really read anything like this. I have received two e-mails from Disney Destinations about the work in general, then RF closing and GP opening.

Is there any date when RF will be open again? Also, do they have a place set up to work as an alternative to it?

I know if isn't set in stone that is what they will look like, but I thought the interior on the Disney site was a little generic for the new rooms. I wonder if BRV will get a similar makeover?
Actually, VWL (sorry, I can't physically type that bee-ar-vee thingie) had a relatively recent refurbishment. I'd have to check to be sure, but I'm fairly certain it was within the last three years, though it could be hedging toward four years. With that overhaul in mind, I don't see any impending update to those rooms for quite a spell. For me, that VWL refurbishment wasn't very successful. Not awful, just bland, much like how the new CCVC rooms (excluding perhaps the GVs and cabins) appear in the limited shots we've seen. Rather than commit to having a theme at a resort, Disney seems to be taking the approach that "modern is in." As I've whined elsewhere, I suspect the bottom line is, well, the bottom line when it comes to designing/furnishing rooms--less specificity means more wholesale buys? Whatever the case, I'll hold final judgment until I see the new rooms, but I'm not holding out much hope they'll reflect the "sense of wilderness" touted by the Mouse.

Geyser Point is now open (it's the big new building occupying what was once the beach) and has received mixed reviews. The selection there isn't as extensive as RF's (no Mickey waffles! :crazy2:), and many feel it's more bar than grill with somewhat limited seating. The Territory Lounge has a coffee shop going, as well, and I just read yesterday that they've extended the hours from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. vice 7-11 a.m. That's it until RF comes back online (with Mickey waffles, right, Disney?).

I believe it was 2014 because my husband and I stayed in one in January 2015, and the remodel had recently happened. We only stayed one night and moved to the main lodge the next night, and both my husband and I felt the lodge rooms felt much more like home.

Do you happen to know whether or not you can use your refillable mug at TL to get coffee? My sister will be joining us in three weeks for her first stay at the WL and she is worried about getting her morning coffee now that Roaring Forks is closed during our trip. :coffee:

Truthfully, I haven't been to the TL Coffee House since it reopened, but when it first opened last year (before shutting down a few months), all it offered was specialty coffees and pastries. I have my doubts you'll be able to fill your refillable mug there; however, I could be wrong. I'd be interested to know.

I don't think so...They have like a espresso machine...

But from what I understand Geyser Point should have a place to fill up on coffee

With RF closed, where do we get our refillable mugs? Or do you guys think it'll be open again by October?

I hope TL does some sort of accommodation like they did at GF with ML when Gasparilla was closed. In that case the entire lounge was converted, but GF also has two separate lounges. Extending the am hours and offering the continental breakfast is nice, but it would be much easier to have a place to refill indoors. I would probably finish my drink by the time I walked from GP to my room.

We are checking in Saturday and I got that call too. They wanted to make sure we understood about the construction. I floated the idea of a daily gift card for the inconvenience since I've read other resorts are doing that. They said WL is not currently offering that at this time. But I was able to confirm they had my room request and they did. They seemed to indicate that it would probably work out.

I thought it was nice that they call and I thanked her for her conscientiousness.

Reassuring to hear this! I missed the call and was assuming the worst like something else was going to be closed or removed and they wanted to warn me. Lol I was going to call back, but it seemed like a general number provided so I hesitated.

I've read the gift card things about Caribbean Beach! That would have been nice, but I get it's not as bad as what's happening there. My friend stayed at WL last spring and got these cute construction pins and that still seems to be happening. I also stopped in back in December and it honesty just looked like the wing was covered up and there was minimal interruption. RF was the biggest shock to me, but I guess I'll head to Contempo Cafe when Geyser Point doesn't have what I need.

Looking forward to my first stay here!!

We stayed at GF when Gasparilla's was closed in December. We were in Big Pine Key so the Beach Pool Bar and Grill was very close to our building. We ate breakfast there instead of going to Mizners Lounge. It was also a place to refill your mugs. I can see Geyser Point serving a similar purpose while Roaring Fork is closed. It would be great if Territory Lounge could serve the same purpose as Mizners did, but I have a feeling that it won't be like that.

We were in Conch Key so similar distance from the pool bar and lounge, but I did stop in Mizners after I got off the monorail quite a few times. I doubt it will happen either. Wishful thinking. I'll inquire upon check-in!

For those wondering about difficulty In booking rooms now... we had to switch from march to Dec 1-7 (due to not be happy with Geyser Point's limited menu - I have food allergies- and some financial concerns...)

I am happy we rebooked bec even at rack rate, multiple room views are already sold out (so likely no discount) for that period. That is a popular time but it seems early for it to book up.
