Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

I'll be arriving on October 29 so I guess I won't be able to experience the fire pit's marshmallow toasting and movie at night. I wanted to get my mom a massage at the spa too. Will there be any discount to compensate for less amenities? I'm pondering switching resorts but I've gotten used to planning and liking the idea of everyone having their own sleeping surface and the convenience to MK...

We are booked in December 2015 and were also really looking forward to the marshmallow toasting on the beach -- and, it is free !! But the alternative, FW's roasting is not free. :(

Hi everyone! I have some serious research to do and quickly. I got a wild hair...and ended up booking a 1 bedroom villa for 7/25-8/1. We are renting points for the first time!!! It seems like I'll be ahead of the major construction so that's a good thing!

VWL resort stayers can use the WL feature pool right?

Such agony.....

All I can say is that Sandy and I, as always, are booked for the WL (11-2015 and 4-2016). As soon as DVC lets us - we will book for 11-2016. I guess that I'm seeing we're going to be the only ones there :). Should give us loads of time to establish new relationships with the CMs :). Now - just for us? Not overly worried about noise before 08:00 EST, or after 19:00 EST :). We've had that sort of thing happen in our HOME :).

Yep!

Out of all the amenities that will be unavailable during my stay, I'm most bummed about the villa pool closure. I love that pool, it's so peaceful! I was really hoping they would close that in the last construction phase :( I'm still not bummed enough to switch resorts, though!

Just got back from a week stay at WDW and our first stay at WL. We loved the resort and being so close to MK and having the boats to travel to MK and Fort Wilderness. Everyone was so nice and we are exhausted from the parks. The weather was great and the parks crowded however at night it was much easier to get on the rides. The only issue myself and my DH had with WL was the bed. It was very uncomfortable. It's like you would just sink into it and it made it hard to move around. I guess when it comes to beds there is nothing like your own bed. But after a long day and night in the parks it really didn't matter. Could have slept on a park bench and not cared. Over all a great trip had by the entire family. We are already missing WDW and WL.

Glad you had a great time! We're just over 2 weeks away from our first WL visit and getting super excited. Happy to hear it's easier to get on rides at night. Hope that pattern continues

I totally get what you mean about your own bed being the best but Disney exhaustion really does make sleeping anywhere possible

You planning your next visit yet?

I am a bit daft, the alternative marshmallow toasting is not free to WL guest?

I'll get you logged:). Congratulations on your Disneymoon! You booked bunks? Inner Courtyard just refers to the WL courtyard as opposed to overlooking the VWL courtyard/pool area. There are both North and South wing inner CYVs.

Thanks :) Yes unfortunately CY view bunk beds were the only available room at the time. We booked a special offer on the Disney UK website.

Did my online check-in and also called GS for more specific requests!!! The GS I spoke to had no idea about the future construction at WL. She only knew about the Poly. I told her what I knew (from DIS of course) and she thanked me and said would pass around the information.

I am happy and relived to hear that that construction wont begin until October so our September 7th visit should be fine. If I receive a letter about construction, from Disney, I will definitely post back.

At least you still have a sense of humor. Let us know what your TA works out for you as far as compensation or changing resorts.

Reporting back as promised. TA got the $100/night/room adjustment for us today AND we keep our free dining! So we are staying put at WL. Availability was nonexistent as we have multiple rooms involved but that's okay. That adjustment pretty much covers our AIRFARE!!!! TA did say that when the DIS was mentioned, the offer was done without issue. I don't know how much issue there was before the mention of DIS but TA said it was like a code - BOOM the deal was done.

Hope this helps someone else! I am very appreciative of the help over the past year from the DIS and ESPECIALLY the WL threads!

Anyone check out the Poly thread today? Their quiet pool is roped off and closed for refurb starting today. On Tikiman's FB page, pictures from a family who are there today show the walkways and where the fencing will be. They already have cherry pickers right up into people's balconies. I only mention this because the proposed plans seem similar and might be an indication of how things will be at VWL pool refurb.

They just recently replaced the beds in the lodge. My wife and I were talking last night about how much we miss the bed at the lodge. We just got back a few days ago. We both liked the new beds much better compared to the old ones. It sounds like you would have really liked the older ones! I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. The lodge is the only place my family will stay.

Well, we jumped ship on WL and are now staying at CR in a garden wing. I'm sad about not staying there, but relieved to know we should be able to nap midday without construction noise being disruptive. :p

I just got off the phone with Guest Services. I called the number at the bottom of all the Disney web pages and after a bit of talking about what things will be missing at the resort, they switched me to Guest Services. I told them about the amenities I wanted to experience, especially the spa for my mom, along with the desire for thee three adults on the reservation to have their own sleeping surface. For my dates, FW had nothing and the monorails don't have bunk beds so I was asked if I'd like to stay at WL and get $100 taken off/night instead. After chatting a bit about how I've never stayed on-site before and how the CM herself stays at WL bunk beds when she goes to WDW with three adults, I was put on hold for the discount. My FD is unaffected as well. So there you go, another example.

Hi @WDWKOOK could you please remove us from the Lodgers Log for our Oct. 2016 stay? We have decided to switch to the Poly for our anniversary trip next year. WL is still on my bucket list though! Thanks!

Here now, arrived late last night! Lodge is beautiful, CL staff have been great, got our requested north wing bunkbed courtyard view. :) Minimal scaffolding, did see a construction worker CL this morning but everyone is super nice! Can you tell we're happy to be here? This is our view. [GALLERY=]image.jpg [/GALLERY]

As I write, am laying on a sunbed next to Villas Pool at the Lodge. Sun has come out again after earlier cloud. Spent morning and lunch at MK.
We have a 2 bedroom dedicated villa - 5537- a glimpse of the lake can be seen through the trees. Last night we had truffle fries, chicken wings and ( of course) the smoky Portabello mushroom soup which I washed down with 3 Heinekens after our 15 hr commute.
Tonight is Artist Point- might go with the scallops and cobbler.

Does anyone have a picture (or at least a description) of the clothing storage in a regular room at WL? We've always stayed at CBR and those rooms have three big drawers under he television and a much larger drawer under a bench so always plenty of room for our family's clothing. From what I've seen in pictures there is less space and I don't know if I should bring something along.
