Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Hi everyone! Hoping some people with more experience can help me here.

My husband passed away from cancer in March at age 35. We were both massive Disney fans and went every year at least once while we were together. He always wanted to splurge on a stay in the Copper Creek Cabins, and I've decided I want to make that trip come true in his honor. I was hoping my group could go in mid June 2022. But after some initial searching, I cannot find availability for that timeframe at all. I moved my search back to this summer, still nothing. And put in tons of dates all through the current availability calendar. I cant find availability anywhere.

SO. Is this lack of availability all because of the 50th celebration? (I can postpone this special trip to another year/timeframe if that's the case). Or have they just sold a ton more DVC at Copper Creek at this point, making rooms harder to come by for general public? (I am not a DVC member. But we were able to get a Copper Creek alcove studio 2 years ago via the Disney website and loved the room). Or have they perhaps been holding available cabins back for some reason?

If there is a better timeframe to search for these cabins? ie: Would I have better luck trying closer to the date? Any insight into the best method of snagging one of these accommodations is appreciated!

Somebody may give you better advice, but here's my two cents.

WWW.Dvcnews.com has reported that all of Copper Creek has been declared into the DVC timeshare system. That means that Disney is not sitting on a lot of Copper Creek points.

If you go to disneyworld.com and look at mid-June, the only DVC rooms you will see are for the new Riviera Resort. For all other DVC hotels, the website says the resort is unavailable. I think it's too early to book.

There are only 26 Copper Creek cabins. I don't know if they ever make it onto the disneyworld website (for cash bookings) or not. A lot of DVC members have extra points right now because they could not or would not travel due to the pandemic. They may be using their extra points for the cabins.

You could try going to disneyworld.com and using the Chat feature to ask if the cabins are every available for cash bookings.

Thanks for this. I have seen the cascade cabins on the disney world website before for cash bookings. I know because my jaw always dropped at the price tag! haha. But perhaps I am simply too early to look for those.

I am also fine renting dvc points/taking a dvc member's stay, should that option become available. I found one site to check, but again no CC cabins.

Well, the cabins take a lot of points. But there may be members who aren't ready to travel yet who have points they are willing to rent out. It's too early for members to book for June 2022. Members can book 11 months ahead for their home resort, and 7 months ahead for any DVC resort. 11 months from today is 04/07/2022.

Pretty sure they haven't opened up for DVC to book yet - I always read people talking about 11 months. So that wouldn't be until July for June 2022. Then there's something about 7 months...not sure if that is when Disney can release for cash or not.

Hello all! Checking in soon at Boulder Ridge. What is the best viewing spot for the Electrical Water Pageant? Does it pass by towards where the MK boat dock is, or down towards where the Boulder Ridge rooms are?

Hoping club level reopens before October. It’s been a long time since we were there (we switched to beach club for a while). I hear club level moved a few years ago. Where is it? Anyone have pics?

Our 7 month booking window opened today. I couldn’t believe there was a Copper Creek 2 bedroom available for our 3 nights. I never even considered I would be able to snag CCV during the holiday season.

We were originally just pay cash to stay at Fort Wilderness because I really want to stay somewhere with amazing Christmasy atmosphere.

I grabbed the 2 bedroom and will cancel FW today. I am so excited to stay at CCV for the first time. We will just visit FW so the kids can do pony rides and gem mining. I am not very outdoorsy so I think it is a fair compromise for kids to have a great time and Mom to have a nice resort
Good choice. If you like camping then FW would be good. Myself I would rather be at Wilderness Lodge lol.

We haven't seen it yet, post hotel side remodel.

The club lounge was moved in 2016. It is still on the seventh floor, but now it is on the same side as Whispering Canyon Cafe. They removed the two honeymoon suites and turned that into a much larger lounge. They pipe the MK fireworks music to the balconies and there are partial views of the fireworks from those two balconies.

that sounds pretty cool! it was fairly small beforehand.

Checked in earlier today for a one night stay at Boulder Ridge before transferring to Old Key West tomorrow.
  • Nice and tranquil... very few crowds outdoors and in the lobby.
  • Geyser Point burger was cooked perfectly, and possibly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The smell from Whispering Canyon Cafe is teasing me, though.
  • Room was ready by around 3PM, which seems to be the norm.
  • Cast Members (main lobby, Roaring Fork) are pleasant as always.
  • Can I live here 365 days a year?

We experienced this back in September as well. We are doing a split stay in 3 weeks that was Riviera/VGF but switched the second half to CCV. VGF seems pretty crazy right now based on Vloggers there in the past week or two. And WL/CCV is where we feel the most at home anyway.

Are the shower heads handheld in all rooms at Wilderness Lodge?
The resort rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have undergone a major remodel. The resort is still closed so no one has stayed in these newly remodeled rooms yet. But from pictures posted on the internet, it looks like the bathrooms will have handheld shower heads. :)

Thank you!

We have been here at Boulder Ridge villas since Sat. Not crowded, cast members very nice. Bus service to the parks is good but coming back we wait for a while but not too long past 20 minutes. I may need to book a trip to Wilderness Lodge itself to see their rooms. Boulder ridge rooms are nice, a bit dated, but we are comfortable. Quick service is very good.

We are arriving on 5/31….I was curious if anyone is there now and could post current activities at the resort? Trying to get a feel for what is going on at the resort since we aren’t doing parks this visit. Thank you! 🙂
