Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

I am not sure where you have seen reports of bad transportation at WL, but overall and in most instances, transportation is pretty good. You will always find instances of a long wait for a bus, but that happens at every resort at every level. The buses tend to be good, especially during this construction period when half the lodge is closed but the transportation runs on the same schedule as when the resort is at full occupancy. And the best part is that WL is the first stop when leaving a park or DS. :)

But the boats are the best part. Once you take a boat to or from MK, you'll see why the WL fans love it. :)

The Unofficial Guide.

How many stops does the bus or boat take on the way to the park? I'm mostly looking forward to the boats! I'm just overall excited about finally getting to try this resort.

In our opinion WL has no better or worse transportation than any other resort. Although the 5 minute bus ride to MK is great when you're in a hurry. The boat ride to MK is definitely nice and relaxing, but not as quick as the bus.

Yeah, I can't wait to check out the boats.

The bus to MK is usually non stop. It has been known to stop at FW in the evening during Hoop Dee Doo hours, though, but I don't think that happens all the time.
The bus to Epcot stops at FW first, before heading to the park.
The buses to AK, DHS and DS stop at CR first before heading to their destination. :)

@Wood Nymph already answered about the bus routes so.....there are 2 boats. One goes directly to MK, the Red Flag boat. The Blue Flag boat goes to Ft. Wilderness and The Contemporary.

Make sure you check out the very informative Transportation post, post #14 of this thread.

I would also suggest checking out page #1 of this thread as just about every question you could have will be answered there.

We completely agree. The best part of WL transportation is having options. The boats are nice, the buses to MK are super quick, and all the other buses are on par with every other Disney resort we've visited. You might get lucky and have no wait or be less lucky and have an unpleasant experience. It is worth noting that buses to DS or other parks besides MK will usually have an additional stop, usually at GF or FW, on the way to the park, but WL is the first stop on the way back. We also really enjoy the Blue Flag boats to get to the CR or FW.

What is the best location for viewing EWP these days with the beach closed? Are the locations listed in Post #17 current? I notice the beach is listed there....

Never mind, did some digging and looks like the boat dock is the favored spot these days.

Hey everyone, need some advice... We are taking our 1 year old in Dec. along with my parents. I have a 2 bd booked for 5 days at VWL. I am wondering about the construction in Dec. We stayed at WL a few years back at Christmas and loved it, but am considering switching to 2 separate standard views at BC. It would be cheaper with no construction, but would also have less Christmas atmosphere and space. Plus being near MK with the little one seems beneficial. Any thoughts?

Hey All!

I intend to book the WL (late Oct/Nov 2017) on bounce back while staying @ BC/Poly this December. Is the thought that the club level lounge & floor refurbishment will be complete, along with the majority of the more intense construction by then?

My apologies if this was addressed!

Yes, we are here now. The Buses and boats have been really good! We only had to wait for awhile for a boat because we just missed one.

Can someone please tell me how long it takes to get from WL to HS at 9:30am and HS to WL @ 3pm?
I did use the Transportation Wizard but it says "Bus directly to Hollywood Studios" I thought the bus also went to Fort Wilderness:confused3

That Wizard is really not accurate in general.

WL to HS - 17-18 minutes (with a stop at CR)
HS to WL - 12-13 minutes (direct to WL, stops at CR after WL)

Packing now for our trip in a few days! What exactly is in the room for toiletries? Is there shower gel? Shampoo and separate conditioner?

Only club level rooms get shower gel, unless they changed it since we were last there. But regular rooms get separate shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion and bar soap. :)

Good idea. Our stays at WL have all been Club Level. So @Wood Nymph is most likely correct. I assumed all rooms had the same stuff.
I was disappointed that the WL didn't give shower gel to the non club level rooms since we had always received it at the BC. :)

I cannot wait for our impromptu September trip.

Went on a strict diet to hopefully fit in to a group of Disney themed shirts I bought off of redbubble.

I will say the weather here in NJ is a good test for what I'm expecting down in Orlando. Today the real feel is 108 degrees with humidity nears 60%.

My GF never really been to Disney outside of one afternoon trip to the Studios years ago, so I hope she ends up falling in love with everything as much as I have.
