So Disney contacted me to take a survey about our last trip. In it they asked the following:

After your visit to Walt Disney World did you:
Select all that apply

Purchase souvenirs/gifts from Disney
Provide feedback to Disney about your trip
Purchase additional pictures of your trip
Create a scrapbook of your trip (digital or print)
Display Disney memorabilia/souvenirs at home
Visit Facebook to fan/like a Disney page
Visit online communities to share feedback (e.g., TripAdvisor, DISBoards, but excluding Facebook)
Talk about your trip with others
Share photos/videos of your trip
Share tips with others you know are going or are interested in going
Display Disney memorabilia/souvenirs at work
Visit Facebook to share your experience with others
Start planning your next trip (just can't wait to go back!)
Wear a Disney shirt, sweatshirt, watch, ears, etc.
None of these

Ha! Disboards made the survey! :cool1:

That is so funny! I use disboards more to plan my trip than I use disney's website...that should tell them something.

I don't think I have posted in this board but, on another thread there was discussion about how Disney is really looking into how they are portrayed in Social Media. Someone even found a job listing looking for an intern to monitor sites like these and Facebook.

The downside to this is that Disney besides just monitoring these sites could employ shills to try to counter any bad postings that they find or to be super fanboys/girls and constantly tell people things like you should only stay onsite.

I not sure even Disney could employ enough people to make a realistic dent in the posting traffic on a site like the Disboards. And I think if Disney tried it the posts would come off as being somewhat un-authentic. True posts just have a certain lyrical detail about them that usually only comes from people that have actually experienced the parks. And using the example of staying onsite, anytime a discussion comes up about that on here, there is really a balanced answer, or in most cases the majority of Disboard posters seem to actually already agree that staying onsite is best.

I have looked at other Disney based boards similar to the Disboards, and the number of members and associated posts is both considerably less than what the Disboards hosts, and I have noticed a strong anti-disney, mean streak among the posters in these other boards. I see within the Disboards, a supportive, educating environment filled with pro Disney people, that simple want to enjoy Disney to the fullest extent possible and to make sure that Disney maintains it's high standards of guest service and enjoyment.

I think it would only take a few trained people with multiple accounts to maybe sway a few threads. I have seen a few threads go into a completely different direction with a single post.

I only used this example because it was brought up in the thread where the fan boy/girl didn't really read the OP and just always recommends on-site and seems like a shill for Disney Hotels.

It's kind of like the situation where the OP posts that they have 7 people and limited funds and is looking at a $110 a night suite or condo or even house for a little but more.

The FB/G will start recommending on-site accommodations without regard to how much they cost, like a 2 room suite CL at XXX for $600+ a night. Or think that 2 value rooms onsite compare to the 3 room condo with full kitchen and a whirlpool tub.:)

I'm convinced that Disney already has people on the DIS talking up their stuff.

Big whup.

Disney has been well aware of the disboards for a long time. When we bought into DVC in 03, I had made a comment to Melissa about stuff I read on the dis dealing with DVC, Guide heard me and he told me straight out, they knew of the disboards for quite a while already. Happened to be the year I change my user name also.
It's safe to say, they have had people here for years. let them be here, CM have some of the best info. At bottom of main page they have a CM only forum
