Disney's Princess Academy - RP

OOC: I agree with Octavia so much it's getting hard to reply lol

Clarion: She listened. "Well, I'd like to say first off that I congratulate you on your successions and workings with such good intentions. I do not mean to say that you should give up these things. Keep at them, continue to help others, fantastic job, but you really should not let your disliking of a more, pardon the word phrasing, traditional way of being a princess or queen stop you from being a /responsible/ princess or queen. It's your job, your duty, to rule over your people, yes, but goodness no not in a aelfish way at all! Keep continuing these studies, by all means, but there will come a time when your travels will be slowly reduced, cut down, as your responsibility as a royal becomes greater and greater. When this does happen, you should take everything they teach you at thos aademy to become the best princess or the best queen you could ever, possibly be. You asked why you should be required to sacrifice when others are more willing. Again, I repeat, despite the term's over-use and cliche meaning, it's your duty as a royal to do just that, make sacrifices for your kingdom or country or whatever the case may be. Yes, while so many others would be willing to take your place as a royal in a heartbeat, they hardly have the opprotunity to do so. As a princess, you should be obliged, honored, even, to put your people's needs in front of your own. As for your mother, it'd most likely be best not to give her too harsh of judgement. While even I certainly do not agree with that particular quote about smarter princesses, you said that you wouldn't begrudge me on my own beliefs. Why should she be any different?" Clarion found herself quite enjoyin the debate, being able to say what she thought. "And do bear in mind as I say this, I mean no offense or negative infliction at all. These are simply my opinions on the topic."

OOC: Well, I'm glad I'm writing her well and I'm glad you agree with her/me and I'm glad you're challenged

Octavia: "Thank you, I take great pride in doing what I can to help others without one limiting allegiance or affiliation. That is what I feel the problem is with the well-meaning organizations out there, they get caught up in politics or differences in nationality or religion. That would be very good advice for a princess who is okay with being a princess but doesn't think she's ready, you should save that just in case. But I'm not that kind of princess. I've never wanted to be princess, I've never wanted to be queen, and I would happily trade it off for any girl in Toscana, I bet there's hundreds who are more willing and would be much better at it than I. The only thing I like about being a princess is the money that funds my education and work, my jet and cars and my nice properties that I live in. I recognize I am lucky to have those, but it does not change my views towards being royalty or this school. I don't want that duty, I don't want the responsibility, and if I can help it I will never be queen. I have a higher purpose, and I can not fulfill it on a throne. And I honestly well and truly do not see what a school such as this can do for me. I mean, I've already graduated high school as the valedictorian when I was 13 and I have 3 doctorates. When you can take into account my many international connections and my small but dedicated group of friends as well, there's nothing the school can do for me. I respect your beliefs because you respect mine; you may not agree with my beliefs but you respect me as a human being and do not belittle me and force me to think like you by punishing me by not doing so. Clarion, once she burned my books after I told off some fop at a ball because he slapped a friend of mine for accidentally running into him and not apologizing for telling him off like my mother ordered even after he slapped me too. Of course, I had all my books back up on my computers and smart phones and tablets, so I even didn't lose the dedications and inscriptions in the ones gifted to me or I got signed by the author, but it's the principle of the thing. We share different beliefs but you are not a tyrant. I do not mean to offend or insult either, and I take none. I am actually quite enjoying myself, though I can not agree with your ideas, I am enjoying the debate; despite not having as much education as I you are quite smart and wise and seem to be countering me with ease."

OOC: The valedictorian is the person in the graduating class who is top of the class: ranked #1, best grades, etc. The salutatorian is 2nd place

OOC: Wow, forget Social Studies, this is probably the best debate I've ever been in :D Just for the challenge and such, even though I don't really even agree with Clarion :rolleyes2

Clarion: She paused a bit longer before she answered. This girl was certainly an excellent debater, and Clarion wanted to do her best to at least try to get her point across, even though she saw little hope that Octavia would take in her opinion, she felt she should at least try. "Those are the best things you love about being a princess? Not the way that people look up to you? The way that they respect you? That feeling you get when you get to bond with those you rule over? Unfortunately, it is not your choice, I do not mean to come by as too harsh, but it truly doesn't matter if you actually want to be a princess or not. You can't 'trade it off' with any other girl. You are the princess, and you always will be one. You may be shocked at what this school can do for you, though I am appalled at your academic success. Maybe going to these classes, being around other princesses, could possibly help you see the light. Being a princess is hardly anything a girl should want to 'trade off', it's an amazing gift. As far as your mother is concerned, I can no longer side against you on that, you have most definitely won that side of the argument. She should not have gotten upset with you about that arrogant boy, she should not have burned her books. But she is still your mother. You most definitely cannot ever change that. I urge you to try and fix your relationship with her in any way possible, for a bad relationship with a mother is already difficult, but that difficulty is far greater when the daughter is a princess. As for the 'higher position' you have but cannot reach on the throne, that may not be the case. You have an amazing mind, surely you could find a way to continue, continue to help the world, while being royalty. You don't have to give it up. But, at some point, like I said before, your travels will be cut down. Whether you are ready or not, the responsibility of the throne will be put to you. I advise you to choose to be ready instead. Learn the things this academy can teach you, and if you already know them, do your best to become better at them. You can never know anything. There's always something more you don't know, and I assure you there must be plenty of things you don't know or are not exceedingly amazing at." She was beginning to lose her breath now, talking to fast and passionately.

OOC: *whew* Finally finished with this post XD

OOC: Will answer when I get home.

For future reference, Hal and Octavia both despise royalty, but the difference between Hal and Octavia is that Octavia feels enslaved to her throne. Hal, meanwhile, had any chance for the throne taken away from her over a hundred years ago and no other royalty stepped up to stop it so she begrudges everyone of royal blood, and you'll see the difference when Hal becomes more involved.

Melanie: She finally reached the academy, her brown hair flowing in the wind. She didn't really want to be here. She didn't midn being royal, well actually she did, but sometimes it was too much for her. She hoped this place wouldn't be as bad as she expects it to be. She saw two other girls talking to each other. "Um, I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but hi."

OOC: Okay.

I've been trying to come up with a decent Unique or Uncommon, I want one character who doesn't like being a princess. But, even while I may not agree with everything Clarion says, it's pretty fun to RP as her.

Clarion: "Oh, you're quite fine, Octavia and I are just in a bit of a friendly debate," she said cheerfully. "Hello. I'm Princess Clarion."

OOC: I am now disposed to answer this

Octavia: "They respect me for my mind. They respect me for my contributions to the world. They respect me for my successes. They respect the scholar, not the princess. You are wrong, I can abdicate, and I will if I must." She laughed, long and hard with bitter notes. "The school? The school can do nothing for me. And I don't want to learn anything they want to teach. It won't get you anywhere in the real world. Appalled? I didn't waste my mind; I prepared for life in the 21st Century, not the 14th century. And who says being around other princesses would be a good idea? I'm going to tell you what most of them will be like, based on what I know of society: they'll be flighty, frilly, fancy, condescending airheads who don't know the definition of work, let alone hard work, simpering after a Prince Charming that doesn't exist. I'll probably get into a fight with at least one before the month is over. I will not be seeing the light because everyone is wrong when they assume there is only one light to see and there's a right answer and every other answer is wrong. It's disrespectful to assume that and I don't appreciate the insult, though I do not think your ignorance was purposeful. No, I will not attempt any reconciliation with the queen. I tried that a long time ago, she just went back to treating me as her pawn and ruining my life. The queen doesn't deserve my love and forgiveness. No, see, you don't understand, because you've never had to choose between loyalties. But if I kept my life running as it does now and sat on the throne, it would be a nightmare, because I would be forced to make every decision a choice between what is right for Toscana and what is right for the whole world, and my moral code would not allow me to selfishly choose a small country like Toscana over the entire world. That's a huge part of why I like making big decisions in my jet. You can't see the bigger picture from down here. Like I said, the school's worthless to me. I'm only here because I don't have another choice. Maybe it will be put to me, but I will not accept the responsibility. I will abdicate or die before I will be crowned queen." On her last sentence she developed a fierce, angry look on her face.

OOC: You could always go the Princess Diaries route: regular girl told she's a princess but doesn't handle it as well as Mia.

Here, I have an idea for you, I wanted o use it but I've already got an Uncommon and Unique and I just think it may be a hard fit for a Traditionalist. But first! Are you familiar with the legend of Anastasia Romanova? If you are I'll tell you, if not I won't bother

OOC: I stared at this. I reread it. If this were in real life I would have had NO response, but I've constructed a less-than-worthy reply to this :D

Clarion: Now this girl was bewildering her. Never before had Clarion heard a princess speak in such a way. "/My/ ignora-?" She stopped as she heard the very obvious tone of anger in her voice. She took a deep breath, then responded carefully. "Well, first off, I am sorry things are not seeming to work out with your mother. Now. I cannot change your views. I cannot change your values. I cannot change your beliefs. But you're in the academy. That's that. So you might as well try and make some use of the time. Find something you /can/ learn, try to make /some/ use of your time. You may be very smart. You may be a genius. But even you, Octavia, cannot see the future. I highly doubt that you will go through your life without regretting to have learned something here. There may be a day when you will have to be on the throne. Do your best to ensure no regrets happen if that day should come."

OOC: That was incredibly lame

Edit: OOC: Well, if it's an idea you want, by all means go for it. But no, I'm not familiar with that

OOC: I have a huge respect for you right now, let me just tell you, it is SO hard to argue a point yo don't believe in.

Octavia: "You're right, I can't see the future. But I'm willing to take the risks. Which aren't very big, by the way. And I'm willing to do everything possible to make sure that day never comes. Like I said, I'll die before I'm queen." She said her remarks in a very even, casual, matter-of-fact, off-hand way. She was already here because someone had tried to kill her. She doubted the school would really hide her from those who truly wanted to kill her forever. And she wouldn't be opposed to taking her life into her own hands if needed.

OOC: It would take a while to explain, if you have a decent teacher you'll learn about it in world history. Unless you want to hear the tale now?

OOC: Thanks. And it definitely is.

Clarion: She sighed, wanting to just drop the conversation now. It was quite obvious that she wouldn't be breaking through to Octavia. At least for the time being. "Okay," she said, shrugging. "I hope maybe throughout this year you'll perhaps take a more positive view on the situation." She nodded her greetings to the other princesses.

OOC: I lack both a decent teacher and world history, at least until high school. If you want, sure :)

OOC: Okay, so in the early 1900's, the ruling family were the Romanovs and their czar/czarina (king/queen) was Czar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra. They had five daughters and one son, but he was a pretty sickly guy and he kinda has his own drama. The youngest daughter was Anastasia Romanova, and she was pretty and well-liked and stuff. But then in 1917 Russia had a revolution called the Bolshevik Revolution, which was where the people rose up against the czar and his family and raided the palace and the revolution/rebellion was really bad and bloody and Russia became Communist.

But see, here's the really interesting part. We know what happened to most of the Romanov family, we know they were either killed in the attack or executed and I'm pretty sure the sickly little boy died of his illness. But Anastasia, she just disappeared off the face of the earth practically. She was never accounted for. No one knows what happened to this 10 or 11 or 12 or 13 year old girl. It's generally thought that she died or was killed or whatever, but we don't know how. And there's been lots of books and movies about the whole thing.

So I thought for the thread's sake, what if she escaped, changed her name, married, and a hundred years later, there's a teenage Russian girl with the blood of the legendary princess running through her veins?

Octavia: "We shall see," she said, but it must be pretty obvious that she was saying it to be polite and not actually believing it. "Thanks for the debate anyway, it was fun."

Althea: Althea sat back and watched the debate unfold in front of her, not saying anything yet- despite having MUCH to say to this girl.

Seraphina: Seraphina walked into the courtyard with Ivy, applying her usual glitter gloss. She tried to engage in light conversation with Ivy until she heard the conversation before them and nudged her to pay attention to it.

Ivy: Ivy walked into the courtyard area. She was ranting with Seraphina over a topic they had started earlier. "And furthermore," She huffed, continuing the conversation, "I think she's trash for even asking her parents about Spain. You're a Princess with responsibilites. Girls like you go to study in Spain for the Fall semester and come back in the first trimester, if you know what I mean. Lord, what has this- oh, what do you want, Sera?"

Ivy stopped talking when she realized what Sera was referring to. She quietly observed the conversation in front of her for a moment.

Halolani: She watched this all from afar, hiding in her car. She was hating this assignment more with every passing moment. Why couldn't her boss have assigned her someone non-royal to protect? It wasn't as if royalty had ever made up for what they'd one to her and her family. Man, she'd be having words with her handler about this stupid assignment, and with the director of this place about how the royalty basically threw her family under the bus.

OOC: For those who don't know, the late 1800's was the Age of Imperialism, where countries (mostly Europe) were going around obsessively making colonies. So the US wanted to look cool to Europe and they wanted Hawaii's resources so they invaded Hawaii and forced their queen off the throne and no one really did anything about it, they just sat and watched this happen. So that's why Hal hates royalty; she's of royal blood but not recognized as royal and she blames America and other royal families for not stepping up and doing something.

Octavia: "We shall see," she said, but it must be pretty obvious that she was saying it to be polite and not actually believing it. "Thanks for the debate anyway, it was fun."

OOC: Wow. I'm definitely gonna look that up in the library, see if I can get anything on it. That's a super good idea; I suggest you go for it. I think I'll do a Mia sort of character

Clarion: She nodded. "You're welcome. It was quite enjoyable," she said. She found herself instantly straightening out the wrinkles in her dress as more princesses arrived.

OOC: And that bit on Hawaii...
How awesome is it that I'm learning more on a Disney Princess Acadeny RP than I'm learning in Social Studies

OOC: lol. I once told someone I was a wealth of random information.

I think I will use it, I just either have to plan it really carefully as a traditionalist or wait til Newsies lets us do multiple of a Shadow house and go Uncommon.

Octavia: She nodded, tossed her hair and brushed the loose locks out of her face and walked away to sprawl over a bench.

OOC: That might be tough for a traditionalist, but not impossible

Clarion: She sighed and leaned against a wall, not sure what exactly to do now.
