OOC: I agree with Octavia so much it's getting hard to reply lol
Clarion: She listened. "Well, I'd like to say first off that I congratulate you on your successions and workings with such good intentions. I do not mean to say that you should give up these things. Keep at them, continue to help others, fantastic job, but you really should not let your disliking of a more, pardon the word phrasing, traditional way of being a princess or queen stop you from being a /responsible/ princess or queen. It's your job, your duty, to rule over your people, yes, but goodness no not in a aelfish way at all! Keep continuing these studies, by all means, but there will come a time when your travels will be slowly reduced, cut down, as your responsibility as a royal becomes greater and greater. When this does happen, you should take everything they teach you at thos aademy to become the best princess or the best queen you could ever, possibly be. You asked why you should be required to sacrifice when others are more willing. Again, I repeat, despite the term's over-use and cliche meaning, it's your duty as a royal to do just that, make sacrifices for your kingdom or country or whatever the case may be. Yes, while so many others would be willing to take your place as a royal in a heartbeat, they hardly have the opprotunity to do so. As a princess, you should be obliged, honored, even, to put your people's needs in front of your own. As for your mother, it'd most likely be best not to give her too harsh of judgement. While even I certainly do not agree with that particular quote about smarter princesses, you said that you wouldn't begrudge me on my own beliefs. Why should she be any different?" Clarion found herself quite enjoyin the debate, being able to say what she thought. "And do bear in mind as I say this, I mean no offense or negative infliction at all. These are simply my opinions on the topic."
OOC: Well, I'm glad I'm writing her well and I'm glad you agree with her/me and I'm glad you're challenged
Octavia: "Thank you, I take great pride in doing what I can to help others without one limiting allegiance or affiliation. That is what I feel the problem is with the well-meaning organizations out there, they get caught up in politics or differences in nationality or religion. That would be very good advice for a princess who is okay with being a princess but doesn't think she's ready, you should save that just in case. But I'm not that kind of princess. I've never wanted to be princess, I've never wanted to be queen, and I would happily trade it off for any girl in Toscana, I bet there's hundreds who are more willing and would be much better at it than I. The only thing I like about being a princess is the money that funds my education and work, my jet and cars and my nice properties that I live in. I recognize I am lucky to have those, but it does not change my views towards being royalty or this school. I don't want that duty, I don't want the responsibility, and if I can help it I will never be queen. I have a higher purpose, and I can not fulfill it on a throne. And I honestly well and truly do not see what a school such as this can do for me. I mean, I've already graduated high school as the valedictorian when I was 13 and I have 3 doctorates. When you can take into account my many international connections and my small but dedicated group of friends as well, there's nothing the school can do for me. I respect your beliefs because you respect mine; you may not agree with my beliefs but you respect me as a human being and do not belittle me and force me to think like you by punishing me by not doing so. Clarion, once she burned my books after I told off some fop at a ball because he slapped a friend of mine for accidentally running into him and not apologizing for telling him off like my mother ordered even after he slapped me too. Of course, I had all my books back up on my computers and smart phones and tablets, so I even didn't lose the dedications and inscriptions in the ones gifted to me or I got signed by the author, but it's the principle of the thing. We share different beliefs but you are not a tyrant. I do not mean to offend or insult either, and I take none. I am actually quite enjoying myself, though I can not agree with your ideas, I am enjoying the debate; despite not having as much education as I you are quite smart and wise and seem to be countering me with ease."
OOC: The valedictorian is the person in the graduating class who is top of the class: ranked #1, best grades, etc. The salutatorian is 2nd place
